I agree MM about how its his money and let him spend it as he likes, but is it wrong to not pay regular local pay scale prices? Just because a puta asks you for a specific rate or what seems like a lot of money for the taxi or her services. Does not mean you have to hand over the money so quickly without questioning the regular local rate or some sort of haggling. I'm just saying every monger in every new area should do their homework. That contributes to irresponsible inflation.

If you want to enjoy the best, the best has a premium. That is true with almost all comodeties.

To some of you guys who don't travel, and live vicariously through trip reports, you don't think anything of it. But the purpose of sites like this is to help others avoid getting hosed in these destinations.

I agree 100% with Jonesie. As I left 4x4 this evening, three different people asked for a tip - the new girl at the counter, the white guy downstairs who took my receipt, and the black guy at the door. My response to all was my usual: "when the brasileros start tipping, I will too". They give you a look and that's that.

The reason they only ask foreigners is because foreigners are the only ones who would ever consider tipping. In his thread on his first night in Rio, he talks about paying the girl R$200 plus an extra $50 tip. That's R$250 for a girl who would normally go for R$150 or less. Just because Help is closed doesn't mean you need to go to Balcony and pay Help prices for non-Help quality.

Guys will always overpay, and J has proven over the years that he overpays - always, and by a lot. The fact that it's for what most of us would describe as either lower quality garotas than most would go for - I would describe most of them as butt-heinous hags but that's me - makes it a double crime.

So MM, yeah, when guys throw money around, it makes an impact on the rest of us.

Here's a example- no GdP is going to pay R$70 for a cab ride. She's not going to pay R$7 for a cab ride. She's going to take a bus or van or some form of cheap transportation, at least on the return trip. I see it all the time, guys will give a garota 30/40/50/whatever for a cab ride home. She'll hop in a cab, go a block or two - until she's clearly out of site - and then will bail on the taxi for the minimum fare and go take a bus or van. Hell, I had a girl from Company Girl once ask me for R$20 for cab fare - and my apartment, on Rua Bolivar, was within site of the building they operate out of, on the other side of NS Copa on Bolivar. She asked it with a straight face, and when I informed her that her office was about 3 minutes away - and that's with a 2-minute wait for the light to change - she changed her request to a R$20 "teepeee".

So, I don't really care if J pays to boink girls I would never consider. Tastes are different. But when he pays her double the going rate, that's bad. I won't do her, but she'll tell her GdP buddies about how the gringo paid her X amount and they'll all quickly start asking that price.

And MM, it has little to do with price and demand. I've never seen that concept in any Latin American country. There's not a line of guys waiting to do these girls, or any girl at all. Monte Carlo raised their prices R$10 in November because the girls wanted R$10 more per program. R$180 for 40 minutes - that was Centaurus prices a few years ago. They'll sit there all day and not get a program, but they'll feel great about making that big R$180 if they ever do. Of course, if the prices were $50 lower between the house and garota fees, their business would be massively better.

I agree with Catocony to a large degree and MM to a much lesser degree. What value any person places on what he or she desires is purely individual. If Dr J works hard and enjoys a higher standard of living, he can splash his cash anyway he sees fit. It isn't for anyone to set him right regarding the disposition of his resources. Is he driving prices higher? Likely not as an individual however collectively with other "Big Spenders", of course he contributes to raising the bar. As I've stated, I typically prefer high end accommodations since I will spend a fair amount of time occupying the unit and no where near as much time with an individual lady. Hence, my valuation for the women is much lower. I doubt I will ever spend over $100.00 USD to pop a couple of nuts. Pussy just isn't that important to me as I do very well for far less or nothing at all. Dr J's valuations regarding pulls are not aligned with mine at all. While grateful for the detailed TR, thus far I've seen only two pulls I would consider and regardless of the local metrics, neither of them would compel me to drop even close $100.00 USD. In addition to our valuations, our tastes are varied as well and likely our compared abilities for procuring talent outside of the P4P arena. For me personally, women of caliber in his TR can be had for free almost anywhere.

I also dislike idiots that over pay, but Dr. J. knows what he is doing and I will allow that he chooses on his relatively high end jaunts to not be burdened with petty negotiations.

I am often the same way, since I travel on business and I have to squeeze in nights on the town away from the biz hotel. I put a premium on ease and quickness of the hook up and I am pretty picky on the looks front; so if I find what I need I will usually take it.

This girl displays a lot of personality with her smile and expressions and I imagine she'd be fun to be with. Under those circumstances if Dr J wants to tip, I can't blame him.

I think that Dr J writes well informed, fun and interesting reports and I thank him for that .As for his taste in women, well to each his own. However, most seasoned mongers would agree that quality of service and looks have no relationship some might say that in some cases the hotter the girl the worse the service, so maybe he is onto something. Now for the pricing thing,, it’s a given that when uninformed or uncaring mongers overpay it does start pushing the price up, we have seen this all over the place.
