Labuan, Malaysia used to be the hub in Malaysia for GRO's (Guest Relations Officers) from the Philippines, but due to stricter gov't regulations it is harder for the bars to bring in quality and the quantity of girls. And also for the fact that a lot of oilfield expats and foreign Asian businessmen fell in love with the quality girls here and support them so they do not work completely destroyed the scene here. There used to be several hundreds of available and desperate girls every night in the clubs 2-3 years ago and you used to not have any issue getting girls. But now there is a ho shortage and when you go to all the bars at around 9pm or after its all a sausage fest. Most of the prettier girls have attitudes or refuse to give the time of day customers not to their liking - you'd have an easier time picking a hot filipina for free from a dance club or bar back in the states then get the time of day from whores here which is ridiculous.

But anyway I have taken about 10 girls in the past 3 weeks here and had to take 3 back to mamasan for a refund because the girls refused to do their job back at your place or wanted you to immediately take them to their barracks: These were Aliyah #62 from Club 129 (which freaked me out because i took her out twice before without any drama), Margy from Kings, and some other 129 girl - can't remember her name. 2 girls that were good (good to me is standard service from AC) from 129 - not mentioning there names for selfish reasons. Kicked out one freelancer referred to from a taxi driver because he promised a beautiful girl and got a fat, average faced girl delivered. 3 average performers for this area from Kings, Manila Cafe, and Golden Finger. And only one hot, star performing freelancer that is very malibog which was referred to me from a close friend...but the fucked up part about this is that she is in a close relationship and being supported by some Japanese businessman and when he leaves back to Japan she calls around to hobbyers like me for great sex and extra cash, then jokes with us about how small his dick is, how she is so frustrated about how she never cums when fucking him and how absolutely boring the poor sap is.

Anyway it is easy to find the girl bars here just ask the taxi drivers. The barfine rate is 250-300 Malaysian Ringit sometimes 350 for some stupid reason or another. 2.9 Malaysian Ringit to 1 USD average for May 2011. Used to be way cheaper a few years ago due to the stronger dollar and larger selection of girls.

In conclusion: This used to be an excellent, cheap and fun place to monger. But not anymore. I come here for work because I have to and the local GRO's are just to get my by. But just usually save my cash for that Star Freelancer when her Japanese boyfriend returns to Japan. But I'd rather go to Angeles City, Manila, or Subic Bay for hotter, nicer, and better filipinas. But I really don't like filipinas anyway compared to thais, filipinas tend to have alot of drama associated with them and thais generally know there job and for the most part do it excellently. When I go on vacation it is always to Bangkok or Pattaya Beach which is where your dollar or whatever currency you use will be put to better use.
AVOID COMING HERE OR K.L. (MALAYSIA IN GENERAL) FOR MONGERING PRICES, QUALITY, AND QUANTITY ARE HORRIBLE COMPARED TO TAKING AN ACTUAL TRIP TO THE PHILIPPINES, THAILAND, OR MACAU WHICH IS JUST A 2 HOUR FLIGHT AND ABOUT A HUNDRED DOLLAR PLANE TICKET AWAY. PLUS HOTELS DON'T MATCH THE PRICE.

Interesting. This info coincides with some of the research I've been doing on a Thailand trip.

I was strongly considering deep southern Thailand, near the Malayasia border. Apparently the Malay men flock to Thailand over the weekends as the pussy on the Thai side of the border is cheaper, more abundant etc.

I kind of gleaned from my research that more Malays, as opposed to Thais, speak pretty respectable English. Don't know if that's true or not.

I'd be interested in anything you come up with on southern Thailand near the Malay border. I've considered there myself but never acted. I theorize the local terrorists may keep the local authorities preoccupied an thus less interested in more mundane crackdowns and such. When the local holy warriors are trying to kill you and mamasan is extra friendly, it's probably easy for a local Thai cop to just leave mamasan alone and worry about more pressing issues.

I asked around alot of my local Malay and Chinese friends in Labuan and K.L. and most have traveled to southern Thailand to check out the action on vacation or go there for work. Most of there opinions is that it is just too risky and dangerous there. You are too nervous to enjoy your time as compared to Pattaya or Bangkok.

The reason local Malays and Chinese-Malays go to Southern Thailand is for a short weekend getaway...it is easier for them to take a drive up north from KL, see some friends or family in like Alor Setar then cross the border for 1 night get a cheaper and more abundant selection of girls as compared to the scene in KL; then to actually take a flight to Pattaya or Bangkok. Then on Sunday morning make the drive back to get ready for work on Monday.
Note: The scene here is tailored to mid-high class to high class Malays and Malay-Chinese which is alot of Karaoke Bars and stage dancing clubs. When you barfine you can go from 2000 baht - 4000 baht for either short time or long time depending on the quality of the girls (they also accept Ringit if you are close enough to the border)flat fee up front and hope to God she doesn't turn out bad and bail on your ass after the first go around if you paid for long time. That is why I love Pattaya where you just pay the barfine and give her the rest when she leaves.
WARNING: Thais down here are not the Thais you are used to in Pattaya or Bangkok as what my friends say...just watch your back, your wallet, and trust no one down there. Good Luck.

But most of my friends general opinion here is that PATTAYA and Bangkok are best places to monger for prettier and better performers at a more reasonable price.

IN CONCLUSION: YOU WILL GET MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK OR SHOULD I SAY RINGIT IN PATTAYA OR BANGKOK...ELSE WHERE IN THAILAND SUCH AS KOH SAMUI, PHUKET, HAT YAI, CHANG MAI ARE MORE EXPENSIVE AND TEND TO HAVE LESS SELECTION.

I was thinking of budgeting about four or five days total in Hat Yai area, then bussing up to Krabi/Phuket for like eight days. Then flying from Phuket to Udon Thani, for three or four days there. Finally, moseying down towards Pattaya for about a week there.

I tend to overextend my traveling sometmes as I like to be able to say "I've been there." As opposed to hitting a spot and just chilling out for a couple weeks.

The safety concerns in the deep south of Thailand are definitely to be considered. But they were in Cambodia when I visited there seven years ago. I almost feel compelled to go and see it. Might get my head peeled though.
