Short report.

I made my first trip to the Dominican Republic and was there for one week. I stayed in Santiago for part of the trip with someone who lives there. It was nice to have someone with a car who knew the city.

You do need $10 USD or 400 pesos to enter the country. I came from Cartagena and did not have $10 on me. I had to exit and re-enter. The ATM was outside so I got their pesos and returned. I think it was 400 and I had a 500 and of course he said he did not have change.

Since my friend lives there we just went out with girls that he knew and I did not end of going to any of the other places. It is very easy to ask out girls in DR. Most of them do not have the money to go out so they want someone to take them out. Of course you can normally bring their sisters, friends, cousins also if you want.

Santiago has a gold's gym, Chilis and TGI fridays. Santiago is a pretty nice city and is a 40 minute drive or so to Puerto Plata. We rented a house in Puerto Plata that was listed on VRBO. It was a nice house in 1980 but was not a nice house now. The electricity did not work all the time and only the bedrooms had a/c. It did have a nice private pool. So it was fun to party at the pool but the rest of it was not nice.

We went by Blackbeards and had a beer. It looked pretty cool to me and I would consider a night or two there if I return. I did not make it to Sosua. I think the girls we where with did not like Sosua because of the reputation.

You can fly to Santiago or Puerto Plata from Miami. I fly into Santiago and out of Puerto Plate.

We just partied at the house in Puerto Plata but I do no think there is a ton of nightlife there. I could be wrong but I didn't see it.

Sosua sounds like it has more nightlife and easier to walk to places if you are staying in the right area.

We saw the advertisement for Tuscan I and II at a restaurant in Puerto Plata. We looked at the place but did not stay there because we had paid for the house upfront. Otherwise we would of moved to this apartment complex.

I went and checked your previous report on thailand. It seems you have plenty of room to improve your reports. All this detail about the crappy places you stay but nothing about the girls. I can't even tell if you got laid.

This trip to DR was just all with non-working girls. I was there for a week and was with three girls that my friend either knew or knew their friend. All the girls were cool but nothing too exciting. One worked at a resort, one sold lottery tickets and one was looking for a job. Two were mixed and one was black.

I was just sharing the information about the bad house we had in DR so no one would make the same mistake. Also the apartment looked like a nice option if someone goes there in the future.

This is the house I was talking about. We paid the guy upfront for three nights and wanted to leave after the second night. He would not refund us for the third night. In their response he said we did not pay but we paid upfront.

I have rented in Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica, Colombia, etc and this was the first time I was not happy with the rental. I thought I would share the information.

I was in Cartagena the week before that and did the usually LDV, Tu Candela and Electra. I did a lot more partying in Cartagena the week before.

I'm curious what your experience was in Tu Candela. I was there recently, seemed like a hoppin' place with maybe a few working girls scattered among a lot of couples and groups of civilians. And do you speak Spanish? I was with a date so I didn't run into the issue of trying to meet girls with basic Spanish skill, but I'm curious what your experience was.

Also I'm curious what your experience was with LDV, I didn't make it there.

Hunterman, I speak a little spanish. Not much just the very basics. That was my fourth time to Cartagena. Tu Candela is a lot of fun. They do not let many working girls in Tu Candela. They mostly let them come in if there are with a guy.

I speak enough to met the girl especially if they are a working girl. My friend met one who was a semi-pro or acted like she was a semi-pro.

Normally like you saw there will be a few in there. The first night we brought some with us. I knew one and she brought some of here friends. They met us outside and we paid their cover and they entered with us. You can put your tickets (cover) towards a bottle.

Another thing is they let you take in a drink if it is in a plastic cup. We all had strong drinks in plastic cups and took them inside. So we ordered a bottle and still had our drinks to finish first.

The last night I brought three with me. I was at LDV with one girl and these other two I knew wanted to go with us. It was slow at LDV that night so the other two wanted to check out Tu Candela.

You can buy a half bottle or full bottle of Smirnoff or Absoulte for a decent price. Tu Candela has more of a party atmosphere and most people are dancing.

LDV is just working girls. Most of them are sitting or standing around. Some of them are dancing. It gets crowded from 1100-1200 and then ends around 200-300. LDV can be fun to watch the girls but you have to catch their eye or wave them over.

Everyone ends up at Electra at the end of the night. Electra does not getting going till close till 300. Electra is all electronic music and can be fun. Girls come from Tu Candela, LDV, Isis, etc.

Cafe del Mar is another cool place to eat and people watch. Sometimes there are some working girls there. They have a good DJ on the weekends if you like Electronic music. We started the night there one night and everyone enjoyed.

We were a group of 7 and I was the only one who had been to Colombia before.

RioTime,

I recognize the house where you stayed in Costambar. It is very unkempt and the owner (masquerading as the manager kept trying to hit us up for incidentals). I know many property owners in Costambar and this guy is totally ostracized by the Costambar community. According to them, he was charged as a perv and bought his way out of the rap. We did not know of his proclivities during our stay but we observed "young boys" visiting his unit in the basement of the house.
He also made himself quite comfortable watching one of my partners banging this chick for a couple hours in the pool.

Anyway, Costambar is a peaceful little area and its very easy to hookup with the local chicas -most of whom live outside the gated area of Costambar in the nearby barrios of Puerto Plata. If they don't find you, almost any of the owners/managers of the beach shack restaurants, cab or moto-concho drivers will offer to provide you with girls (or family members) for a couple hundred pesos. Looks and quality,as anywhere, vary, so if you are specific about what you want and reject them if it doesn't meet your standards, you can get what you want. I spend about 40-50 days a year there, so I have developed a nice stable of attractive girls and reliable performers and made some good friendships in the ex-pat community. This is a versatile spot suitable for the newbie, the lazy mongerer or the guys that like to hunt their cunt. There is nothing there worthwhile at all from a tourism, cultural or culinary perspective.

Pan1975,

We just saw it on VRBO.COM. He told us the house is owned by Dominicans but he could of been lying. I never saw many people come to the house or any rumors. Of course we weren't there that long. It is not the place to stay. That was the first time I every had a problem renting a place.

The tuscan I or II looks like a decent option.

Beware of VRBO.COM and all the websites with it. We left a negative review on that house. The deleted our review which was the only one. Now all of the sudden the have three positive reviews.

Pretty sure the owner made up the three reviews. The place needs to be redone. We emailed VRBO and the want proof of the stay. We did take pictures of the place. We will see what happens. I have never had a receipt with any rentals. They are all cash transactions.

This is the house. It is not a nice house. The owner responded saying we never paid. Then I guess he told vrbo we never stayed there.
