Fortune smiled on my business enough to give me a little breathing room, so I booked a trip to Cartagena—the third main mongering destination in Colombia I’ve been able to hit within eight months. The Colombian Trifecta (yes, I know I’m leaving out Bogota). But I wanted to go back to Cali first and see a cute spinner I met on the previous trip, and maybe try another casa or two. So I booked into Cali using my ff miles (thank you Citi for that 75K promotion), then on Copa to CTG (via Bogota), and Spirit back to LAX. Spirit’s flights have convenient timing, although the $243 fare ended up at $483: Fare $97.60, Colombian Fuel surcharge $145.40, taxes and fees $164.28, checking a bag $30, an exit-row seat on the FLL-LAX leg $35, and travel insurance (I missed unchecking a box somewhere) $21. The only AA flight that was available for 15K miles made three stops and had an overnight layover, so I had to burn 35K for the one-stop-in-Miami flight.

On this trip, I enjoyed two of my three main styles of mongering. I pretty much had only the one style that I did not practice here for my early mongering days: as many different girls as possible, never a repeat. Then I added a second style, which is to spend a significant fraction of my time with a special girl or girls but still do a lot of different girls; in the best case, the favoritas bring different friends every day or so to keep the mix varied (like on my last trip to AC). This was my choice in Cartagena.

I may be creating a third style: to spend pretty much all the time with one girl only, and to have a significant relationship of some sort. Maybe that’s not even mongering, even if I meet her on a monger mission. In Cali, I initiated that style unexpectedly: it worked out so well with the chica I came down to see that I stayed with her instead of also checking out some casas as I had planned. I am recording all the intimate details of this budding relationship, for better or for worse—condemn me if you wish, but this is the honest story.

I have a varied style also. I like to spend time with one cute spinner if the chemistry is right. Sometimes the one girl is enough to keep you entertained. Just all depends on the mood and how we vibe. Looking forward to reading more.
