This will be a running commentary on the trip to MDE.

Despite travel fuckups (delayed flights, missing luggage), I arrived and settled in. I was too tired to do anything but veg with friends.

Days one through three were work days, though in all honesty I minimized the work, plus I had to trek back to the airport (45 minutes each way) to retrieve my luggage. But I did manage to hit a couple of casas those days. First up was Abydos, where I pulled a little spinner who gave adequate service, but nothing to write home about. The Mansion and El Castillo are packed in advance of the 4th holidays. Boyd, Greg and the gang are throwing a huge party on Sunday the 3rd.

But the warm-up parties started last night and continued tonight. There's a great group of guys who are CB regulars in town. Today's party started at about 2:00 when several cases of beer, many bottles of vodka, rum and tequila, and a ton of food arrived. Word reached the chicas and soon we had a great crowd. Cat, I'm not certain that's the right question. We're living with the economy of 2011, not that of 2004. So we're making current decisions based on current bang-for-buck estimates. It comes down to lots of factors, including how cost-sensitive you are, your preferences for body types, your preferences for types of sexual encounters, your language skills, your preferences regarding locales, food, etc. Some guys will have preferences strongly favoring one place over the other and will discount the cost issue. For others the cost issue will be the primary driver of their decision.

I enjoyed Medellin and will go back. But I LOVE Rio and will go back there more often.

IMHO, Medellin should be experienced at least once.

If Rio and Medellin were the same distance from me and my Portuguese were as good as my Spanish, I'd probably never go to Medellin.

That's acceptable, but keep in mind that with that criteria, a place like Costa Rica would be optimal since the girls at the Blue Marlin and other clubs are pretty good looking and the prices are reasonable, though not great. That said, as always, I would advise anyone who's never been to Rio to go once and hit some termas. Getting the full garota service can change that opinion in about 40 minutes - or less

This can be disputed and greatly depends on the type of girl you like. Brazilian girls come in all types - Depending on the region of Brazil. Girls in Rio tend to be of a darker complexion. There are white girls, but more mixed one - the latter, at least for me, are incredibly attractive and more desirable. You can also find the white complexion of many of the women in Colombia (Yes I know, there are mixed one as well), but probably not in the quantity. But then again, when I went to Colombia the last time I seeked out and found a "Brazilian type", i.e. a mixed and darker girl.

I have mongered in both places - Brazil and Colombia - but from a consistent passionate and wild sex perspective, Rio girls in the termas is hard to beat. BBBJ is usually a given, many give anal, and fuck your brains out in their rented time. I found that to be more of a hit or miss in Colombia - Also, from a DFK and kissing perspective - that is just part of Brazilian culture, so naturally that carries over into the GDP's as well. Probably the best analogy I can provide is going out a nightclub and meeting regular girls. Quite frankly in Brazil - most specifically in Rio - it is just part of the culture to kiss and make-out almost 15 minutes of meeting someone (of course if both parties like each other), if even that. In all my travels around the world that seems to very unique to Brazil.

Also, the circle we mongers will typically hang out with - since we usually do not have an established local social group - is just more compatible with what you find in Rio. Medellin is wonderful and I would certainly return, but more from a variety perspective.

If you have only been to Medellin, most definitely give Rio a try. Once you hit up a few termas you might find the service of most girls in Medellin lacking in comparison. Also Rio is a huge city compared to Medellin - again expanding overall options.

Now an entirely different topic altogether is the differences in services you will find in each region of Brazil. Rio rules from that perspective as well, at least for me.

Armed with only 15 year old high school Spanish I made the first of many trips to Rio back in 2003. The quality, quantity, relative cheap cost of the talent made me return again and again. The exchange rate ranged from 1.90R - 2.85R those days. I missed the golden age when it was above 3.00R!

My point is unless you need to engage in deep conversation, rudimentary Spanish will do you fine in Brazil. My Portuguese grammar is atrocious! I am always trying to learn new words and phrases that I can incorporate in conversation.

Around 2006 when I started exploring Medellin and later Lima, I found myself lapsing into my rudimentary Portuguese when I talked to some of the chicas! I had to backtrack to my high school Spanish again!

Rio, Sao Paulo and Medellin are now all cities in my hobby rotation. I wish I could include Lima, Havana, Frankfurt (FKKs), Pattaya, Bangkok & Angeles in the mix on a regular basis but there's just so many places and so little holiday time!

I spoke Porteņol the whole time, throwing in a few Spanish verbs that I recall from high school, but mostly using Portuguese. I lost the girls a few times but I almost always got my message across. I agree. We all have time and money constraints, so choices have to be made. All of our lists have probably changed over the years. My current rotation will be Brasil (numerous locales), Medellin, and Bangkok. Places that were in the rotation but have dropped off for various reasons include San Jose, Havana and Angeles. Frankfurt was good for one visit, and for various reasons Lima has never been a draw.

Different strokes for different folks, right? After all, there are a bunch of guys on this board who think that TJ is awesome.

I usually pay about $45 a night for a hotel, which includes breakfast and free Wifi. I don't stay in monger hotels.

Unlike most guys on these boards, I usually travel with one guy or alone and stay in the Colombian Hotels and try my best to not come across any other English Speaking people.

Once while in an off-the-beaten-path terma in Rio a buddy of mine had an intense DFK session with a garota, ended up taking her to a cabina.

I've been to both places - Colombia once for 3 weeks; Rio 3 times for a total of about 50 days (and 50 girls?).

I cannot imagine anyone not being VERY satisfied with the selection in the main termas: 4x4, L'uomo, Solarium. Plenty enough white meat, if that's your preference, and b e a U T i f u l Halle Berry colored mixed (mutts), and, of course, blacks too.

None of the termas girls make any money unless a guy takes them to a cabine - so they have to be fairly pretty as a minimum.

I should add that, for the Rio trip I just did in May, I came by way of Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Corrientes, Porto Alegre, Florianopolis, and Curitiba.

Didn't session in Montevideo since neither of the two main clubs would let me have a looksee without paying the cover first. Not a good sign.

Had, of course, some good to great sessions in BA.

Sessioned once in Corrientes. The girl had advertised in a local paper. An hour was 150 pesos. About $40. The girl was attractive but the session nothing special.

I didn't session at all in Porto Alegre or Florianopolis. The clubs costs were Rio like but the girls had no fixed price! I wasn't about to pay more than I'd pay in Rio for what I figured were mostly ice queens.

I did session at Class in Curitiba. It's a VERY nice high end club and, like further south, the girls set their own price. I didn't say that everyone finds Colombianas better looking. Hell, I didn't even say that Colombianas were better looking. I just said that perceived attractiveness could very well be a buying decision.

You're right that the girls at main clubs everywhere are (in general) beautiful - though of greatly varied looks. In Rio though, as compared to other places I've been, the price is set and reasonable - all things considered. One can take their time interviewing different girls.

It's hard to have a bad experience with a garota. Not impossible but rare. Good to Great, sometimes Porn Star Experience great, is the norm.

As to the 50 in 50: remember that was over the course of three trips. One 10 day visit and two more 20 day visits. For the longer trips I didn't session every day.

Medellin is a great place to monger for sure, but I feel that every monger should do Rio at least once in their lives. It really is "A cidade maravilhosa," (The marvelous city).
