pesos although the advertisement at the time was 550. Took about an hour to get to my hotel at Blue Rock Resort. http://bluerockbeachresort.com/ . Got the beach front room with private veranda listed at 2,450 pesos but received my Piatnight discount for 10% put it down to 2,205.

Here are some photos of the room. Nothing to really brag about and extremely overpriced for how old and tattered the rooms are. Seems the one thing extremely overpriced in Subic are the hotels. I guess property may be more expensive near a bay but the hotel value in Subic is poor. Even the rooms that are at Arizona, Treasure Island and Kokomos should be quite a bit less considering the size, etc. I know the owners will hate hearing that but it’s my opinion and an opinion many share that visit Subic.








Decided to head out to Arizona Hotel to check out the new or renewed Floating bar. It was the grand opening. First time I had been on a floating bar and it is an interesting experience. You get on a deck and two locals pull a rope on each side out to the bar. A drunkard could easily fall off as it is not all that stable. Went there by myself and the older barnacle girls tried to attach themselves to me. I guess they have ladies drinks here like a normal bar but didn’t see anything worth banging just yet. Ordered something I had not seen before but it is now my favorite beer in the PI called Manila Light. Drank a few more and the girls started looking better.

In addition to being overpriced, most of the hotels in Subic anywhere near the "entertainment area" are absolute dumps, including some actively pimped on the P.I. centric boards. Not many choices other than Wild Orchid if you want something halfway nice.

Agree all the hotels are overpriced with Arizona seeming like the best of the lot. I checked out of Blue Rock after one night when they wouldn't let my barfine who left and came back in the morning up to my room. Have to jump in a regard to rooms. Blue Rock sucks ass and was a poor choice. It is a piece of shit. The only people that would make sense for staying their would be those doing package tourist shit with them. I am sure you were drawn in by the veranda. It does look good in concept.

Treasure Island a bit better rooms (marginal, but better than Blue Rock) with the bonus a very girl friendly outdoor beach side bar and pool. Location on Treasure Island is a bit fatiguing even further down shitty Baloy Beach Road. (This one I am most hesitant to recommend of my little list.. but, it would fit a type that wants sun and an upbeat outdoor party area with an ok pool to cool off in)

Arizona is OK for what it is.. I guess. Again, marginal rooms, but the price not a ball buster at least. Greatly lacks in not having a much of a pool to speak of. I disagree with the notion it is so close to the bars. Just about anyone would take a trike back at the end of a barhop from the main section. Dreamland is the easily forgotten odd duck. Off by itself over the bridge and not beach front. It is faster to bars than is Treasure Island (probably Blue Rock too) and on the highway the road is smooth. You can take a jeepney too. The pool is fucking huge. The grounds are spacious.

This short list does have decent value on value orientated budget. Comparison to AC of these properties would be fair. Also keep in mind, one can of course visit the pools provided they are spending a bit at their bars.

No doubt that Subic hotels are a horrible value and the rooms are a slight step up from a backpacker guest house with a private bath unless you are going to splurge and stay at the Wild Orchid.

Yes, you can take Mo's Shuttle if not staying at his properties. Mo himself is clear on this on another forum. They will happily drop you off at whatever hotel you are staying at.
