I have just returned from a trip from Cancun and Playa del Carmen. In Cancun I made a trip to Plaza 21 and Chilly Willys.

First, LEARN SPANISH. While my Spanish is rudimentary at best, the girls English was nonexistent. I was able to communicate which led to a much better experience.

They seem to forget this as soon as we got into the room that the club provided and I had to insist that they live up to our agreement. (You pay the club before you go to the room so you’re already out money). The BJ’s were lackluster but did the job.

I prefer to stay in the Hotel zone and go to Shampoo rather than deal with the long taxi drive and going out to Chilli Willi's or 21, etc.

Shampoo had better looking girls and although a bit more expensive, much more accomodating. You can be out on the street looking at the most beautiful girls in the world and 5 minutes later, be having sex with one upstairs at Shampoo.

How did Cancun work out ? I have been looking at weekend get-a-ways and Cancun works well with flights etc. Just curious about the action.

I liked the beach and my hotel in Cancun. I stayed in one of those all-inclusive places (Sierra Cancun). I never found the action. I had a rent a car & went looking for Chilly Willies but never found it. I'll take a cab next time.

Anybody have some Cancun hotel recommendations that are not of the all inclusive resort variety ? As an example, I have stayed at the Barracuda in Cozumel. Safe, clean, good location, $65 a night. The rooms are ok, probably on on par with the Rio Roiss in Rio. No tv, but I don't care.

Also, the Cancun action sounds like pushy strip clubs, and street girls. I am sure there are other options. I like lower key bars with take out options, esteticas, beach girls, longer term companionship options. Are these hard to find ? It doesn't seem worth the trip to fight a tourist crowd.

I've stayed for many years at the Omni and paid as little as $55 per night and as much as $150 per night. The rooms ranged from nice lagoon view to a jr suite with a jacuzzi in it.

I've been to Blackjacks and Chili Wilis and found them to be similar to TJ except more expensive and not nearly as busy. The selection was pretty good, but I did not get the impression that they had a lot of regular superstar chicas.

The accomodations "upstairs" are much nicer in that you get your own little bungalow at CWs.

I prefer to stay in the hotel zone and go to Shampoo where the beautiful chicas worked. Expensive but a great experience.

I booked my hotel thru www.cancuntoday.com. They list "specials" for various hotels. You do need to pay via a bank transfer rather than just giving them a credit card number but other than that they were great.

It ain't cheap is correct. I paid $165 for sex but you don't even get 30 minutes so you need to be ready to go before you go to the small "bedroom" in back.

The girls work you and when you commit you go sit on the couches waiting for one of the two rooms to open up (therefore the rush). I was still used to paying american prices and had not learned the ropes in TJ at that point so I kept coming back thinking I was getting a deal.

I have been to Cancun six times and have definite opinions on the tours, cars, and snorkeling choices.

Never waste your money on a rental. The bus system is perfect for your hotel zone escapades.

Take a taxi to CW's if you have to go there. Don't go on the "chicken pizza" tour because a three-four hour bus ride each way is torture. If you just have to see a pyramid, go to Tulum. The Xel-ha, and Xcaret tours are great. Isla Mujeres is what I can "jimmy buffetland" and is very euro oriented, no surf, tons of topless babes, and hot. Just don't miss the ferry back at 5.

If you are adventuresome, go downtown (non-hotel zone) and check out the locals brothels provided your spanish is great. But remember, everyone is a tourista in that town because it is so expensive that very few are born and raised there. Rateros are not nearly as abundant and non-existent in the hotel zone.

If you go to Shampoo, let me know if Lucy is still working there. She was my favorita, and you can find her pretty easily because she also was the seamstress for most of the costumes the strippers wore. She was about 26, short paige boy hairdo, very attractive, a couple of kids, but a lot of class and spoke good english.
