I have not posted any trip reports in quite awhile. That is not because I have stopped mongering in Mexico. I continue to go to Hermosillo monthly. I have friends there that consider me family and I have regular favoritas that I enjoy when I go.

My best friend in Hermosillo convinced me to go a little further in July. He has in-laws that live on the out skirts of Obregon. They live about 45 minutes south in a rural area. They have lots of fruit trees, including lots of mangoes.

The real reason I agreed to go is because I love mangoes and they are ripe for the picking in July. There is nothing better than tree ripened fruit.

I have posted about my friends brother-in-law before. His name is Elizar. He used to live in Hermosillo but now he lives with his mother and brothers on this piece of land with all the mangoes.

This is probably the first decent trip report with quality pics from Mexico. Congrats. I was previously convinced that digital cameras would only function south of the border with a horrible low res photo.

I forgot to mention some negatives to this trip. First, the heat and humidity. It is horrible down there at this time of year. Second, the mosquitoes on that mango ranch. I had to keep applying the DEET.

Then to top it all off. A day or so after I got back, I came down with the worst case of Moctezuma's Revenge I have ever had. I had a fever and dehydration from the diarrhea. Had to go into the VA for IV hydration and antibiotics. It took 6 days before I felt better.

Not sure what I ate that made me sick. I did try a glass of fresh, unpasteurized milk, straight from the cow. I also ate some unpasteurized cheese from these same cows. Other than that, I ate a Chinese buffet in town that I suspect.

One thing I am sure of. I did not get the illness from eating pussy! Because I did not eat any. Though I wish I had!

That's where you went wrong, if you had eaten pussy it would have built up your resistance to the nasty bacteria in the milk products.

I keep thinking about this experience with Gladis and Estefania. It was an exciting time and I am hoping to repeat it next week.
