Introduction:

I have recently returned from spending time in the Dominican Republic. I spent 2 days in Sosua. 5 days in Santo Domingo and I returned to Sosua and spent another 5 days. I wasn't going to write another synopsis on Sosua since it has been covered at nauseam but I changed my mind because I have some thoughts I'd like to share and I wanted to present a current update for all who were interested. Some of the information contained in this synopsis is well known to veteran mongers but new information to others, my objective is to be as informative as possible to all who are interested. Below I have listed my notes for your review:

Lodging:

The Victorian House (CH Link)
The Victorian House is the old Sosua Bay Hotel and it is absolutely beautiful. The view of the bay is OUTSTANDING! During the day you can see the boats floating on the crystal blue water and after dark the lights that surround the beach reflect the deep blue water that flows seamlessly into the midnight sky. I have an hotel room with a balcony view of the Sosua Bay and a king size bed with good WIFI signal and a spacious room with a refrigerator and safe. The bottom line is this is the spot! This is an excellent place to chill bring different chicas or wife up as it provides the ambiance that should impress any chica. If your chica doesn't like this spot she needs to go somewhere and sit down!

La Comida:

Bourbon Street Restaurant
The Victorian House restaurant is called Bourbon Street Restaurant. It is open from 7am to 11pm at night and the food is excellent. I do not know which is better the view of Sosua Bay the laid back ambiance with jazz playing in the background or the signature Cajun food from New Orleans. Each individual will have to decide for themselves.

• Breakfast:
I had eggs bacon and pancakes which were good the typical American breakfast. I believe I paid 350DOP.

• Lunch:
I had chicken and waffles it put me in the mind of Gladys Chicken and Waffles in Atlanta. The waffle was good and the wings were small but tasty. I believe I paid 550DOP.

• Dinner:
Salmon dinner was absolutely incredible! The grilled salmon was supposed to be covered in shrimp but since I am allergic to shrimp I substituted a pepper and onion semi-sweet sauce that was absolutely incredible. The sides I enjoyed were mashed potatoes and broccoli which both had a soft butter flavor. I believe I paid 750DOP.

*Some would say that the food is on the expensive side and others would say you get what you pay for.

Dinero:

Wells Fargo US: 37DOP-1US.
POP Airport :36DOP-1US.
Western Union Sosua 42. 95DOP. 1US

Casas de Citas:

Passions (CH Link) - Pedro Clisante, Sosua: Passions is still closed.
CMP (CH Link) - Pedro Clisante, Sosua: Caribbean Man's Paradise is still closed.

Calle Pedro Clisante:

The below listed information is for people who are unfamiliar with Sosua. Calle Pedro Clisante has a block where some of the major action occurs in Sosua at night. I walked Pedro Clisante east from el centro to just the other side of Passions and took note of the below listed establishments:

• Mama Iguana Cafe
It's a laid back spot which sets off the street and you could miss it by walking if you're not paying attention because it is snuggled in between other bars and restaurants. It has dim lighting that makes it a good spot to spend time with a chica for drinks or interviewing. I didn't get the impression this was a singles spot more of a chill spot with a lady. There is generally security at the door and the bar and wait staff was flush with eye candy.

• Winners Circle (CH Link)
Is totally enclosed venue that is almost always empty despite its prime real estate location. Is a sports bar that is totally enclosed with transparent glass on the outside. The bar is a place to drink meet and listen to music but it is not very large it also can serve as a good place to interview or chill with a chica or your friends. There is staff that stands outside trying to get traffic to come inside. I literally do not know how this place can afford to stay open.

• Merengue (CH Link) / Classicos (CH Link)
Merengue is the downstairs bar next to Classicos which is totally enclosed upstairs on the second floor. Classicos was closed at the time of this report. Merengue has a circular bar with chairs that surround it and chairs and tables along the outer perimeter of the bar. Since there is no music it is an excellent place to conduct interviews because you don't have to contend with excessive noise. In addition there were a few chicas in the spot who did not wanted to be bothered with D' Latins or Rumbas.

• The Spot (CH Link)
Is a sports bar type venue that is totally enclosed with transparent glass on the outside. The bar is a place to drink meet and listen to music but it is not very large it also can serve as a good place to interview or chill with a chica or your friends if the music is

• Bar Central (CH Link)
Is Haitian Headquarters and chocolate city, it is the bar that most Hatianas hang at. The bar is has a open front and is not really a place where people listen to music and dance but it more like a meeting place.

• D Latin's (CH Link)
The current primary night tourist bar for Sosua. It gets so crowded around 1 am that you cannot move with ease. If the venue had to meet US fire code standards it would be shut down as a fire hazard during busy time. If there was ever a fire or large disturbance and you were in the wrong location of the club you would be stuck. I recommend staying close to the doors. It was formally and open air bar with a very small dance floor. Now D' Latin's has tinted glass all around and 2 front doors that serve as entrances and exits. There are ceiling fans and large fans near the 2 doors that help to circulate the outside air in. As long as you stay in the path of the fans you can stay comfortable. The music is a mix between American and local. There is an enclosed VIP behind the old VIP that has its own bar and seating, it was not in use during my trip.

• Rumba's (CH Link)
The primary afternoon and early evening tourist bar for Sosua. Sometimes it gets so crowded that there is very little space for movement. The venue has a open air sports bar feel with multiple flat screen TV's. The is a small dance floor next to the DJ booth. The music is a mix between American and local.

• El Flow (CH Link)
The primary local bar on Pedro Clisante. There is a bar backroom and tables. The venue has been closed in and has transparent glass on the outside. The music is local a mix between bachata, merengue and salsa.

• Bermuda Bar & Cigar Shop (CH Link)
Is an open air bar on that has activity almost any time of day however the chica clientele is generally of low caliber. I personally have never seen a chica there I would be attracted to.

• Chez Mon Resturant & Sports Bar
Is a nice bar and restaurant that stays busy not packed but there is sufficient traffic to make it a stop. It has a sports bar feel with TV's and an upstairs and downstairs. It is a good spot to hang with your friends or take a date. The food is decent and occasionally the chicas will pass through inside the venue and can always be seen from the corner.

• City Nights Disco Bar
Is now open and looks good inside with a great ambiance and a giant screen TV on the back wall. There were very few people when I was there.

• Lyndas Resturant & Sports Bar
Is an outdoor venue I don't recall seeing any TV's do I don't know why it's called a sports bar. I saw 3 chicas chilling just talking and no men in the place.

• CuCu Bar
Is an open air venue under a straw hut. It has a bar and a couple of pool tables, I saw a bunch of hombres just chilling and talking.

• Four Roses
Is a small open air venue which had the vibe of a local bar with hombres chilling with no stress.

• El Patio Restaurant
Is a small open air venue and I really like this spot I only saw 2 chicas there but they were playing jazz and it had a nice laid back vibe especially since the evening I walked by it was a cool 70 degrees outside.

• Europa Hotel & Bar
Is the open air venue that is a part of the Europa and it faces the hotel hidden from the street. It was laid back venue in the past I have seen women in front of this spot but on this occasion it was empty.

• Samba
I am not certain but I believe this is the venue that was connected to Passions. The staff was very beautiful with mostly 7's and a couple of 8's. There was a lot of activity there with a handful of men being entertained by the staff.

• Rancho Tipco
Rancho Tipico is a restaurant and bar that is just past the closed Passions on Pedro Clisante. Rancho Tipco for me was the hidden gem of Pedro Clisante. I thoroughly enjoyed the service and the staff. First La Hefe walks up in a black dress and greets me. She was about 5'8" 150 dark complexioned and very attractive. Then a German guy greeted me I suppose he was the owner. The waitresses were very friendly forcing us to bachata with them which was absolute torture. They danced together and truly enjoyed their job. I had fish, grilled potatoes and vegetables for 350DOP it was absolutely delicious. It was worth the walk to the other end of Pedro Clisante.

For night owls in Sosua:

Night owls have 3 major venues they can attend after 3am. You are likely to see some of the same people you have seen on the strip.

• After One (CH Link)
Should be called After 3 because it doesn't open until 3 am. It is located in the same building as the Sosua Bay Casino. There is a 100 peso cover by some of the same security that you see in D Latin's. The music is a mix of techno, local and American. The venue has 2 bars. 2 dance floors and 2 balconies.

• Carpirina (CH Link)
Is an outdoor venue with a bar and tables and chairs on the lawn outside. It is on a side street off Aliejo Martinez.

• Copacabana (Chelo) (CH Link)
Is an outdoor venue with a bar and tables and chairs on the lawn outside. It is on a side street off Aliejo Martinez after you pass Carpirina.

Closing Observations:

The internet is a viable tool to use in the search for chicas but totally unnecessary. The advantage to the internet is it allows you to get pre-acquainted and establish a connection before you hit the ground but despite all my telephone numbers and whatssapp conversations I am averaging 1 internet meeting out of a dozen internet contacts in my last few trips.

I continue to find women who are worthy of my respect in the Dominican Republic, I have listed a brief synopsis of my experiences below:

• I had a chica from Puerto Plata who is attempting to wait for marriage before having sex.

• I flirted with a Sosua chica for 2 days and we finally shared numbers. She came to my hotel room and we talked for over 30 minutes. After making our connection I offered 1500DOP for ST and she smiled at me and said she wanted to get to know me better before we had sex. WTF. I thought I was back in the USA for a minute.

• Then there was "Wifey" who turned down the opportunity to make extra pesos with another monger as well as trying to give me back my money in an attempt to show she was for real. How many Sosua chicas do you know that will try to give you back your money? Even if the gesture was symbolic she did what very few chicas will do. Then she gets a waitress job where she makes in 2 weeks what she could make in 1 night with less work. Who does that?

I am increasingly inclined to the wife up option because sampling random chicas while fun, exciting and challenging can be disappointing especially if "Wifey" is putting it down, I'd like to share this quote:

"Spending the majority of a vacation with one isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you find something that's working for you, why change it? . Having fun, laughter, and a great time with a great chica is the main course. Sex is merely the dessert". Irie circa 2014.

I had a "Wifey" this trip that was one of my top 3 sexual experiences in life. It is rare for me to connect on that level with a woman. Obviously the wife up option comes with challenges one problem with the wife up option is the potential for catching feelings and the subsequent jealousy that follows. We can call next as often as like but the risk is that the next may not be able to satisfy like the former. Therefore, there is no perfect paradigm for this thing of ours and as always YMMV.

My trip was right after the Superbowl and it was reported that some chicas were asking for $150-$200. 00 for ST and getting it because of all the men that were in town. There appears to be a loosely organized puta cartel that agrees only to go for specific prices based on their tier system and how they perceive themselves to valued. It does not appear to be as organized as the Colombianas who ply their trade in Panama City, Panama and San Jose, Costa Rica but it exist. Our response should be keeping prices on point by not transcending our price points of 1000-2000DOP for ST and 1500-3000DOP for TLN.

The market value of toto always rings true. At Disney World theme park a hot dog might cost $10. 00 but outside the park in Orlando the same hot dog might cost $2. 00. Likewise I saw a Sosua chica who goes for1500-2000DOP for ST in a casa in Santo Domingo going for 4000DOP for the same amount of time. Sometimes what we pay has much to do with geography and exactly where we are.

I noticed none of the doom and gloom that Cuba Dave spoke of at the airport or on the ground in Sosua. I went smoothly through the airport and while I was on the ground in Sousa it was business as usual all that is needed is basic Spanish and knowledge of what you should pay and what to look out for.

Other than the about of jealousy I had with "Wifey" I had no real problems with chicas on this trip. I attribute that to spending time with regulars and the new chicas I explored with were observed for an extended period of time and were vetted before we spent time together. I know not to make a habit of leaving money laying around my room unsecured but I got side tracked only to find everything in place. Of course I will not take that situation for granted I only mention it to make the point that some of the adversity we face with chicas is the result of our choices and our personnel negligence to detail.

Conclusion:

I had a great trip and I learned much about Santo Domingo and sharpened my skills in Sosua. My next trip will be a Sosua-Santiago excursion March 12th- 21st.
