Bar fines

This started out as a reply to Duke01's post on the chat board, but it started to resemble more of a report.

To answer your question, Duke, the bar fine at all the places I frequent is currently 800 baht. Good luck getting your change back if you pay with a thousand-baht note. The dyke-mamasans have become quite brazen at strongly suggesting that you donate your tip to them if you know what's good for you.

Another rip-off is attempted when you hail a taxi with a girl in tow. The taxi driver will tell you a price that will be at least twice what it would be if it were on the meter. I counter with "meter" and when the driver shakes his head, I walk against the traffic (so that he can't follow us). If there's a second taxi right there behind him, he won't give you a ride because he's in cahoots with asshole #1. So I walk past his taxi and get the next one --on the meter. It works every time.

The girls don't seem to mind my adherence to principles. I'm generous with the girls. For that matter, I'm also generous to the taxi-drivers and other Thais who don't try to rip me off.

The rip-offs don't amount to much but I get tired of it. It's almost as bad as Mexico. Refuse to be ripped off!

But why come to Bangkok at all right now?

If you like single moms in their late-twenties to thirties, with visible traces of being a mom, OK. But younger girls who have never borne children are extremely rare these days at Nana Plaza (NEP) --and they don't work long before they disappear. And good-looking eighteen year-olds? Forget it.

For example: until earlier this year --about the time the junta took over-- one of the NEP bars had two or three younger-looking girls dancing buck-naked in the bubble-bath. Now the bubble-bath dancers are in their late twenties and wear panties. And have maternal stretch-marks. It's just not the same.

I haven't even gone inside any of the Soi Cowboy clubs lately. Most of the girls aren't wearing numbers. To me that says that they can't be bar-fined. They're just tourist-fleecing operations that sell lady-drinks.

Bottom line: if you're looking for a place to monger for your annual vacation, I'd pass on Bangkok right now.

This is off-topic, but I couldn't help noticing that Duke's post was nearly three weeks stale without a reply. I wouldn't have bothered posting if I had not seen CFK's recent post.

If you search the web for hobby sites, you get different ones in every search now. They're like assholes: everybody's got one and they all stink. Some of them are pretty depressing.

So it might not be more choices in sites causing the lull in CH activity. I suspect that people are getting paranoid about leaving traces of this type of activity on their personal computers. (I am. I'm typing this in an internet cafe in Bangkok.) Throw a couple of hostile trolls like Blazers into the mix to discourage reporters, and you get a blend of disincentives to come back here.

About the Taxi not offering meters. I'm ok with it but I just give him a flat amount like 50-60 THB. meter would have been 40-45 THB. Im not sweating 50 cents while in route to some nice tail.

It's all high season vs low season but with the political issues. BKK has been downhill ALL 2014 compared to 2013.

As far as young talent...get in the cab and head down to Pattaya. When I go to Thailand...I really go to Pattaya then Bangkok as a side trip.

Soi Cowboy is better then Nana and barfines all depends. I've seen them push it to 1000+ in high season. But hell.....I spend around $150 a day on alcohol (personal consumption) since they make water down drinks. I rarely buy lady-drinks as I just get to the point.

Bottomline: I'll go! Where in Asia right now that can even come close to Thailand? If you go in high season...plenty to go around!

Co-star, I just replied to Duke's question. I haven't encountered a single 800 baht barfine. What bars are quoting that number to you?

While I'm the first to admit the gogos in Bangkok ain't what they used to be, I didn't think the situation is nearly as dire as you describe. Murasaki is notoriously picky, yet successfully pulling every night!

Also the teen massage scene is really strong in Bangkok. Sois 24 and 24/1 have a lot of hidden diamonds. And don't forget Snow White over on soi 26. I got thrashed over there.

Also, here's my advice on taxis in Bangkok: never approach a cab that is sitting and waiting, especially next to an entertainment zone, or outside a hotel. They never want to use the meter. Always walk to some point on a road where you can hail a moving taxi. They almost always use the meter.

You know, you're right. Last night I sat down in a few clubs that I normally just peek into, like Rainbow I. There were quite a few girls that had not borne children as far as I could tell in that light. None under twenty, though, not even close. (The girls in that club get gaped by a lot of different customers --by their own frank admissions. Wow. "I know you're here for the money, honey, but you don't have to brag to me about it.")

I was never into Soi 26. (Or soapies, for that matter, which I know M. to be into.) But I will check out Soi 24 and 24/1 and see what gives. Got plenty of time now --I moved here.

I haven't been to bkk in 11 months, but it didn't sound anything like where I frequented/say every night.

So unless the city has changed radically in the last few months or ....

for nana, i typically go to the two mandarins, the two eroticas, and rainbow 1, 3, and 4. it is much easier to get 2k for s/t at the nana s/t hotel with the mandarin/erotica girls. doubtful for the prettier ladies at rainbow, 3k should do it though. s/t amounts can be higher if you want to take the girl to your room, possibly add 1k.

long time amounts are all over the map, say from 4k to 7k. depends on a lot of factors, total time away from the bar, your appearance (dress nice or not, asian versus non asian, etc..), what time of night you attempt the bar fine, the current cash flow of the girl, etc..., etc...

i know the shark girls on cowboy are trying to hold firm at 2.5k for s/t at the s/t hotel near cowboy. if you want them to go to your room, 3k is more likely.

on bar fines, concur with murasaki at 600 and 700. never encountered 800. did talk with a girl at mandarin who said her's was 1,000. they recently brought in these new coyote girls with the higher bar fine (also noted by murasaki). i don't think they work every night (and the one i talked with was well worth the extra bar fine money).

Concarne--

Just looking at the Google map, Soi 24/1 has Apple Massage, Cherry Massage, Teen Massage Bangkok, Angel Massage, and Allstars Massage Bangkok. Snow White Massage is on Soi 26, which is right next to Soi 24/1, and Mango is on Soi 24 which is a ways down from 24/1 (there appear to be two streets in between); Addict Massage is nearby but doesn't show on the map.

A wealth of riches.

To my mind (and body), these are better deals than the Nana bars, if you can find a girl to your tastes. 2400 Baht for two hours of all you can take, mostly no holes barred (YMMV).

Disclaimer: I have firsthand experience with Mango, secondhand with Snow White. I will report on one or more of the others next month or so.

I went into some Soi 26 places a couple of years ago. I was shown a book of photos to choose from. Forget that! I want to see the girls. Why should I choose from pictures if the girls are there? And I want to take her back to my place, not do it on one of their smoke-detector video cams.

I paid 800 twice the third week of November, once at Crazy House and once at NEP. So I got taken for three bucks twice for a grand total of six. B.F.D.! Today I bought nothing but food at Siam Paragon, so I saved hundreds. Everything at that place --electronics (except phones), appliances, apparel, jewelry, you name it-- is marked up 100 to 200%. Farang tax.

If it weren't for the broads, this country would cave in fast.

Photos are useless. Always ask to see the lineup. If they refuse (usually means they cater to Japanese), then walk.

i double checked with a friend i was with a couple weeks ago. he was part of a large group that took girls from upper mandarin. he couldn't find a girl there so about 12:30am we went to a bunch of go gos in nana but came up empty. ended up at lower mandarin where he finally found one. i was just happy i could go home at that point and didn't pay much attention to the pricing. the girl he took was one of the 1k bar fine 'coyotes' and he paid 3k for 1:30am until noon.

i think that is an example of the prices you can get late. i'm rarely out past 11:30pm. and my buddy and the girl really had a good time. her family owns a bakery and she baked him a cake and brought it to work for him the next day. but he was too tired hit the bars on his last night. he still regrets it (of course).

so anyway, there is data point that should help you guys get frothing at the mouth. 3k for l/t that leaves both parties happy.

club hombre have given me so many satisfactions that i think i was right on the money when i became a menber, no regrets at all. you just have to see at the vast amount of info you find here from all over the globe that it gives you a glimpse that whenever to go or plkan to travel to a location, most likely you would find some info here or some tips where to get it.
