Baloy Beach

I've come back to Subic for another week with Yen in tow. Last week before I headed to Angeles I attempted to reserve either the London or Devon Suite's at the Palm Tree Resort. Both were booked for the dates I required so I tried next door at the newer ICove Beach Hotel. Their Executive Suite is really sweet however that wasn't available as well. Angeles hotels are half empty but that's not the case in Subic at this time, tough to get a nice room here and unlike Angeles, upscale accommodations in Barrio Barretto are lacking. I hadn't considered the Wild Orchid Beach Resort in the past since it's probably the worst value in the area but I had my honeyko with me and didn't have the liberty to invest a lot of time hotel hunting. The best they had available was a Beachfront Room so that's the ticket. Smaller than I prefer and overpriced at $116.00 USD even with the 10% cash discount. That being said the facilities are good and it is an oceanfront location with decent restaurants and multiple bars.

We hit Blue Rock floating bar then some barhopping at night. First stop was the Catwalk then Lolipop's, formerly Lips. Slow night as it was Sunday so we had an early evening. Hopefully the talent will improve as we get closer to the weekend.

Had another nice afternoon on the Arizona floating Bar. Got off to a late start since I woke early for the NFC/AFC Championship games, 4:00 am start time here. We met a waitress named Eljhay who's worked on the bar for the last two years. Bi and in love with some Chinese worker stationed on a large yacht which arrived from Hong Kong a few days back. Nice young lady but we're out barhopping later so short time was the ticket.

Great shot of Yen, and your short time girl looks good too!

Are there many white guys in Subic these days or is it mostly Korean etc?

By Popcorn on Monday, January 19, 2015 - 10:02 am:  Edit

Very few Korean's so far and zero Malaysian's. BF prices have risen, $1,500 can still be found but $2,000 is quoted as well. Still inexpensive compared to most destinations but they all speak English and LOVE to have Fun. For me that's the upside. New pics of a Bi Spinner from the White House up next, stay tuned.

My first week in Subic while my Honeyko were sleeping a 5.9 earthquake struck with the epicenter less than twenty miles away. It was a good shake but having lived in California much of my life it didn't cause much of a concern, just a good wake up call. I assumed that would be my only significant event while here but I thought too soon. We had another significant event during our floating bar hopping yesterday. Wen and I had just arrived when some clown in a thirty plus foot day cruiser, which he chained to Kokomo's (formerly Treasure Island) floating bar decided to depart. He must have spent some time on the bar since he failed to undo the mooring chain before heading out. When the slack was taken up the boat pulled the bar into a spin and the reaction yanked his cruiser back into the bar causing damage to the bar's canopy and his boat. That got everyone on the bar and the boat's attention. The waitresses and staff were running around screaming, other patron's were freaking out as well. I got a bit nervous too but knowing myself and Wen are good swimmer's and the depth is about six feet my concern faded and I got some photos of the event.

We left Kokomo's with a waitress in tow and our next stop was Blue Rock floating bar. Had a few more drinks and enjoyed a really cool sunset. We were out late barhopping the night before so we made it an early exit and headed back to our room.

A low key day again. Took a two hour bay tour on an outrigger which was a nice way to see the sights. $1,000.00PHP per hour seems to be the going rate. We were the only one's aboard so it got interesting when no one was anywhere close. The pilot dropped us off on Blue Rock floating bar and we played cards with an attendant named Jen. It was her twenty-third birthday so we let her win. I haven't BF'd many times this trip since I had my Honeyko and Yen or her friends are always willing and more than able. Around five or six times this trip. We're going barhopping tonight on the other end of town near the Arizona Resort so we'll see what gives.

As far as staying at the Wild Orchid I'm fading on this hotel. I'm the first to admit I'm a bit of a ball buster when it comes to value expectations. IMHO if I'm going to drop $100.00 plus USD a night ANYWHERE in the PI, I expect a minimum level of amenities.

1) A hairdryer in the room.
2) A coffee maker in the room.
3) If I have to order coffee in the morning from Room Service, don't bring it half full.
4) All the hot water I want or need.
5) All lights, remotes and fans should be in working order.
6) An exchange rate no more than a peso or two lower than what I can get at the money changer.

None of those can be found at the Wild Orchid, Baloy Beach. What really blistered my ass was having already paid a 50% deposit, when I checked in the gal at the front desk asked me to complete payment for the entire stay. The only reason I didn't was a Manager was within earshot and overruled her request. Unless it's the only option available I won't ever stay here again.

I agree re the WO...i rather stay at Sheavens...

The WO is my old reliable at AC...when I can get a discount..is getting older but I dig the pool area.

CC, I did stop at Sheavens yesterday to review pricing but didn't look at any rooms. It looks to be a nice facility and fairly new as well. I will consider it in the future. I used to stay at WO Angeles when it first opened but room prices have increased since the newer towers close by are getting the rates but the amenities are close to WO, Subic. Typically I'll nest at Orchid Inn when I visit Angeles. Their King Deluxe Rooms (25 & 26) are almost double the size of WO's Veranda Rooms and with the 15% discount I receive the cost is $60.00 per night, half the Veranda Room price and Orchid Inn has pool privileges at WO.

We hit about fifteen bars last night on the east end of National Highway and worked our way back to Baloy Beach. It was Wednesday night and we were on the prowl by 8:00 pm. Of all the stops we considered just three gals to BF. A sister act in the 20-20 bar, a petite, hot dancer at Lolipop's and another dancer from Rosie's. Even The Office which is small but packs some of the best talent was almost empty with only three dancers. Ultimately after interviewing the three we passed on all of them. Not a good fit for one reason or another. Most clubs had BF or Early Release pricing at $1,500 with a few higher between $1,700 to $2,000. In hindsight it was nice I packed my wing woman. So far, both AC and Subic have been under achievers this visit considering we're well into the high season. Yen has a friend from AC who will be visiting Subic for a couple of days plus the weekend starts tomorrow so we'll see.
