Just got to Buenos Aires yesterday, and have bad news. The major players in the industry have all been shut down. Some temporarily (they hope), many permanently.
Black, Madonna's, Hook, Ness, Hippopotamus, New Port, Players (looks like it's been closed for a while) and Catto's are all shut down, and appear permanently closed. Even Cafe Orleans was closed, with police investigation stickers sealing the doors. Cafe Exedra had no customers and locked doors, but staff inside late afternoon; it was closed completely for the day when I went back by around 8 pm.
Local news reports indicate a crack down in the past several weeks, from what I can tell. Some places are closed due to random infractions, but the industry is definitely being targeted.
Anyone else local have any input? Still able to find girls online, of course. Met several working girls at outdoor restaurants, and even a couple hotties tried to pick us up as they were driving by. All that I talked to had worked at local clubs in Recoleta, but all the clubs were recently shut down.

I would like to make a trip to Bs As; but, with this trend of targeting nightlife spots is a bad omen for me. maybe is the beggining of the end.
truly sad to hear this

I cannot speak to other places, but Madahos appears to have been closed for quite awhile. I have walked by this place several times over the last year, and it is always closed.
I have been by Cafe Orleans several times, and have had dinner at Excedra's a couple few times, and have never seen them closed. Of course, that does not mean that they are open now.
