Just a few notes based on two trips to Rio in the past 6 weeks.

First off, where the fuck are all my fellow mongers? The dollar is strong, and consequently food and pussy are cheap. Pussy is plentiful because lots of Rio employers have laid off lots of workers. Yet I saw little evidence of fellow mongers during either of my visits. Guys...you're missing out on some amazing times.

The only termas I hit was 4X4, and the talent level was solid. Yes, it has its share of watermelon-assed fuglies, but also a decent selection of spinners and girls with cute bubble butts. The girls I took upstairs were terrific in the suite, and one girl managed to get two pops out of this old fucker and tried to get a third (wasn't gonna happen; I was amazed she got two!). I appreciated the effort. And an hour in a standard suite will set you back a mere R$330 (about $85), and if you get into a suite before 6pm (it used to be 5pm), you don't pay the entrance fee.

I spent most of my time with freelancers, a couple of Tinder girls, and a couple of girls I've met over the years who are technically no longer on the program, but always seem up for fucking "for old time's sake."

I've had several questions about the security at the beaches after an incident a few weeks back where gangs of favela punks ran along Copa and Ipanema beaches, robbing everyone. It was a huge black eye for Rio's tourism, especially with the Olympics approaching.

Well, the Military Police have dramatically--and I mean DRAMATICALLY--stepped up security along the beaches. They were out in force, especially on weekends and holidays. They were everywhere!

On the other hand, two of my Brazilian friends were robbed on the street while I was in town, both relieved of their cellphones. When the economy sucks, as it does in Brazil right now, this shit happens. So DON'T walk around in public carrying cellphones and cameras. If you need to make a call, step inside a building.

I had some kickass meals at good restaurants for what seemed like bargain prices. Favorite places were in Ipanema: Felice Caffé, Zaza Bistro, Terzetto Cafe, Esplanada Grill, and Carretão Churrascaria.

Hey, I'm old too. Those chicks are really hot. Can a decent hotel be found where the action is for less than $50 USD a night?

In a word, no. Hotels are somewhat pricey in Rio. Most guys rent apartments, and those will run you you $80 and up, although I've seen some acceptable ones for less on Airbnb.

BTW, what's "too old?" I hadn't heard there was an upper age limit for having fun.

It is very strange that Rio has not come back as a travel destination for fun and sex, with the real hovering around 4 to a dollar.

Seems like the closing of HELPe has paralyzed the gringos, and for some reason there is a belief out there that without HELP there is no mongering scene any more in Rio.

How wrong they are! Bwana's photos are absolute proof that the carioca ladies are as lovely as always. And the scenery is fantastic. Though the fresh fish in the market could use a little more ice - to keep the Imodium consumption reasonable.

Rio is - at this time - a hidden gem. Maybe history repeats itself. This is the time to come on down, while this place is nice and affordable, who knows what the future brings.

Guys, if you will notice there is a similiar theme in Bwana's and my recent report. That being you mf'ers are missing out because some of you got it in your heads that Rio was played out. It ain't even like that, so get your asses down here.

So with the closure of Help, a few years ago, just where does one find a wife for the night at now???

With the easy point and shoot method that Help used to provide, I have found a liking to the bars of Pattaya, but would love a reason to return to Rio.

Wifes for the night? Well, to be honest, I prefer to fuck 'em a few times and kick them out. I almost never do LT anywhere, no matter what the price. But you can surely find overnight girls. Termas girls will often agree to meet you after their shift, or over the weekend when they aren't working, and spend the night. Plenty of freelancers will do the same. And there's Mabs, where the freelancers that populate Balcony Bar in the past now congregate.

But as they say in Rio, não é minha praia.

Bwana: Where is Mabs and could you tell us a bit about it? Thanks.

Mabs is an oceanfront bar/restaurant located just a couple of blocks from the old Balcony location (near Leme). Nothing fancy at all.

Twenty years ago it was where the underage jailbait girls who got tossed from Help and Terraço Atlantico gathered. Then it was dead for many years until Balcony closed. Many of the Balcony girls just moved a block or so north to Mabs.

It doesn't get active until fairly late (10p at the earliest).

Thanks for the picts and update. I was there for a brief trip in June and I gotta say it was the worst that I've seen it in all the year I've been going, particularly the Copa scene. Mabs was dead every night I was there. The only dudes there were the ones living in Rio.

If the Copa scene was your main interest in Rio, then you probably won't like it anymore. Other than that a good time can still be had. I mosly checked out the low end spots downtown downtown my last trip, no major termas.

I will be back at the end of Nov for a longer stay.

Rio805, yes, L'uomo closed a few years back. My go to termas are 4x4 and Monte Carlo.

Topfotog, yes, most are from Kelle's stable, and she's still asking R$250. How long that will last, I don't know. I just read that Brazil's annual inflation rate has jumped above 10% for the first time in many years. Unemployment has also spiked upwards.
