Up early on this Sunday before the alarm.
Called home. My sister invited me over for dinner on the next day.
Went to the poll between 8:45 and 9:45.
Left the apartment at 10:30.
Gave the conceriege all my loose change and a coupla pesos.
He called a private car from the hotel across the street.
Quick to the airport.
Got my bags checked thru all the way home.
The flight to Bogota was a non issue.
The connecting plane arrived late so plenty of time at Gate #27. Scored 1 more 500 gm. bag of coffee beans.
The flight home, uneventful. Watched "Man from Uncle", "Sciorio", and "Everest".



Walked into my mondo condo at 11:30 p.m. a little tired but pretty damn' happy.

Summary:

This was one of my best vacations ever.
Quito was nice to visit, but I have no desire to go back again.
Both Bogota & Medellin met or exceeded my expectations.
But it was Cartagena that really stood out. I could see myself going back for there two (2) weeks next time. Either to do everything! Or chill out, and do nothing!

Now that I have retired, I have all this extra time on my hands.
So I have tentatively planned 14 trips over the next 4 years.
That and a new Carrera 4S.
You only live once. Do it! Don't just say it!

This was an excellent report and I know you like doing things your way which is ordering in older escorts with curvy bodies and going to some stripper type bars and paying the barfine.

Colombia has venues and styles for everyone, even guys that dont like much of the adventure. Not a criticism, just showing that there are many different ways to approach Colombia, especialy Medellin.

My question is this:

Your purchasing power has doubled in the last year with the dollar being twice as strong against the COP. I notice the escort and stripper girls were basically pegging their price to the US dollar and asking for prices that are double than what they normally charge. I know you dont like the hassle of negotiating but accepting the high offer right off the back isn't really negotiating. They are raising their price in pesos because they are super pros and know the exchange rate. The exchange rate shouldnt matter but many of these girls are older and work in Panama City, Costa Rica and Europe so think in terms of dollars.

You could spend half as much knowing that and the girls would still give you the same service. You can take that extra $3,000US saved and put it on another trip.

Mr. Blazers,

The lowest rate $ USD versus the COP over the last year was 2,355.
The highest it was over that same time frame was 3,454.
That is a 46.67% differential.
Actually it is less than that because it has slid down to around 3,330.
There is no doubling of purchasing power.
I just spent less $ USD.
And the girls were not charging any more than last year, or 3 years ago.

I do get your point. Was just trying to be a little more analytical.
Whether I paid 250K or 400K, if I enjoyed myself is one factor. If la chica provided excellent service is another. And if she stayed longer, that is the third criteria.
Not everyone can afford the above differential of $ 45, I understand that.
I am fortunate that I can.
But like you said, I am a little set in my ways, and have no intentions of changing my modus operandi.

Understood. Just seems you take the first offer and dont negotiate at all. Maybe you feel it takes away from the service. In my experience it doesnt. I do well myself but I dont like throwing money away if I dont have to.

Convenience is the other issue. You are 25 years older than me and that becomes a factor. I actually enjoy the hunt and adventure but I am sure that will subside one day

True true. Also Dr J got quite a few freelancers from La Dolce Vida, and beach girls, so it's not all strip clubs and escorts.

I do notice a trend of older girls from escort services. That I think is a reflection of the escort services themselves. IMO, escorts are like Domino's pizza. The product rarely looks like the picture, it's expensive and frequently late. Still ordering pizza does come in handy on that layover or first night in town scenario and as such I may have to look into using escorts again in the future.

Understood but if some guys just went out of their comfort zone a little, they just might be surprised at the results.

More money does not equate to hotter girls or better service in Colombia or just about anywhere in the world. Matter of fact, it usually means older girls that have been in the game a long time and are sharks as well as girls lacking respect to the monger and trying to run game on him.

Jabber is going to what he is going to do as he is a creature of habit but other guys reading the report need to know that there are quite a bit of alternatives out there.

Also, I would not really call La Dolce Vita venturing out at all. Although its a bar, its basically loaded with escorts moonlighting and charging the same amount. It is point and click overpriced mongering. It is 99% Colombian girls from other parts of Colombia trying to make as much money as possible in a short period of time.

If Bill Gates found $3 million in his couch it would be like most people finding 50 cents. On another forum, guys are call the Rio termas tourist traps and saying everyone should go to private apartments or a slum called Vila Mimosa. What is missed is some guys have the money to do whatever they want and are not interested in seeing girls also seen by everyone.

In life, those who often cannot afford the best, whine the loudest about the spending habits of those who can.

I like a deal and have no problem taking advantage of frequent visitor programs, early bird specials and discount coupons. However, if someone decides they are too much hassle or are not interested, that is their choice.

I didn't say LDV was venturing just clarifying that Dr. J does do other things besides strip clubs and escorts. I've never paid over 150 COP for an LDV chica. True venturing would be mongering where no one on this board ever has. Few of us ever do that. For the most part we tune in here to see where to go and when to go so as to not waste money and time when we could be mongering. The other purpose is to see the state of affairs on known mongering locales.

That being said Blazers, you're right that Cartagena is much pricier than Medellin and not a great value location-but it's enjoyable nonetheless. I think seeking out great deals on pussy in Cartagena would amount to putting a damper on the pure fun of going to the beach by day, watching eye candy, munching on ceviche and oh yeah getting a beach chica to help you shower up in your apartment afterwards. Then doing it again at night with an LDV girl. Everyone should treat themselves to such a trip once in a while. And if you can afford it, quite frequently. I wish I could.

I've previously done the 30K casa routine in Medellin and would do that all the time if I lived there, but traveling to have sex in a broom closet with very hit or miss line ups....it's just hard to look forward to that for me. When I eventually return to Medellin I hope to look for chicas in the higher end casas for a change.

You can get girls easily on FB who will do 250K all nighter. Super hot young girls who will do anything. Most of the escort girls started at casas and Mayorista so talent is easy to find there. Get their number and they will see you outside of work for 75K. Linda's casa girls are up to 150K and hotter than any girls I've seen photographed as escorts in Colombia.
