Final Chapter: Mental limbo and chilling out
---------------------------------------------
Once back in Bangkok, it didn't take me much time to get on the BTS rail and head to town and since i decided to use public transportation i use the BTS all the way to the Ekamai bus station and grab a AC bus to Pattaya.
Back in Pattaya, i went to the same hotel since i was so cozy there, i think the nelson hotel is an acceptable choice when in Pattaya and very affordable, heck, i even got the same room so no need to elaborate on this.
I pretty relaxed the following days and kind of shut down to the world. central festival is a nice mall to relax, cruise beach road and one evening was at the garden plaza mall to enjoy the Foodwave venue, though pricey by thai standards, a good choice for "farangs".
One evening i gave Ruby club another try and this time i was lucky to grab this honey named Bam, cute girl, damage was THB 1,000+300 for the room. then the following day i headed to Jomtien beach and look around. it sure has change over the years. it has more restaurnarts and the budgets hotels and guesthouses i inquired about were to my satisfaction. kind of scouting the area for future trips!!!! weather was very helpful and i took my time to enjoy some italian gelato, quite refreshing. on my way out i look over the bus stop of the bell travel services buses that go all the way here after stopping in Pattaya. the days of humping your bags are over.

My last moments in Pattaya i look one more time over walking street but not too excited to go bar hopping there. went over to take a look at the Liwinski hotel and restaurant, this is a nice back up hotel and is very guest friendly. in LK metro i went to the Crystal a gogo, such an awesome line up of cuties. took the sexy Noi for the night. believe she got THB 3,000 for all night. this gal was very pleasing and very energetic in bed.

My way back to Bangkok was a breeze, was in no need to use the Bell services again so i save some money in the process. hope real quick on the AC bus to ekamai and from there i took the skytrain to nana station to head to my hotel. there was no shortage of cuties walking around in Bangkok.
One thing i found here was the money changer Vasu, right on sukhumvit road soi 7; then, the hotel i stayed was the Blanket and bean inn, real nice place, not too fancy but enough comfort to be happy. found the room to be a little small but well set up. also, this was a guest friendly hotel.

Robinson mall with its food court is a good place to get some meals at rock bottom prices, i sure enjoyed my trips there.
In my last forays i did take a look at the arab section by the Grace hotel, not ingratiated with these folks but i kind of like the eastern dishes once in a while. i even went into this Persian eatery and did sample some Iranian dishes, not bad at all.
I could have partake and get a girl for the last nite but i thought my fun was done for the trip. still happen to be around nana plaza and did go to soi cowboy and see and feel the ambience. one last good thai meal before call it off the nite.
My way back to the airport was well timed, didn't have to take a taxi and gave me the time to grab the BTS late at nite without having to spend a fortune. once at the airport it was just a matter to kill some time before checking for my flight back home.
Sure it wasn't a waste of time in finally get in my flight back home; waht truly burns me was that the flight did a transfer in narita airport, not the favorite place for me to be going for that matter.
I do think it wasn't one of the best trips ever i've taken to Asia but it gave me enough joys to make me feel good about this.
I do hope you fellow hombres enjoy this report and looking forward for a future one.///

Thanks for the report Marco, I enjoyed going through it.
You mentioned that Jomtien is getting more built out, is there enough nightlife there now to keep a guy busy or would you end up making runs over the hill to Pattaya all the time?

Thanks for posting. Cool to see that they are running the airport express train again in Bangkok. That's been out of service for a few years due to parts problems. It wasn't running when I was there in January, so I guess they finally got their parts!
By Buick on Thursday, March 03, 2016 - 01:21 am: Edit
i'm not positive but i don't think that express train is running. it might say 'express' on the side but i think it is running as the city line. unless you time things perfectly, the city line will likely get you to your designated station just as quick as the 'express'. city line stops more often but the express only goes every hour (if it is even going) so you can end up waiting quite awhile. waiting at makkasan sucks big time as there is no AC so you sweat big time. many times i went to get an express ticket (when it was running) and ended up taking the city line as it was leaving in 10 minutes versus waiting 30 (or more) for the express.
i think the express started off at 30 minute intervals which was better. of course the makkasan terminal was supposed to provide airline check in services and such but that didn't quite work out.

Marco,
Thanks for the report. The apparent state of affairs in Bangkok doesn't make me want to book a trip right this minute. Therefore I was actually more impressed with your hotel finds than anything else, especially the blanket and bean. How much did it cost to stay there?
By Murasaki on Thursday, March 03, 2016 - 07:13 pm: Edit
Buick, back when it was running on the official schedule (before things started breaking down), the express ran every half hour, and went to Phaya Thai after stopping at Makkasan. So depending on when one arrived at the station would determine whether to take the city line or the express. You would look at the schedule, see what time each train left, then make the decision. If the difference wasn't too much, I always opted for the express, as the seats were vastly more comfortable and hardly anyone was on it, as opposed to the always packed city line with the world's worst seatbacks. Siemens should be prosecuted for designing those things.

Baxter;
Jomtien beach is surely getting a serious facelift and not the sleepy place it used to be, is gone now. but, i see that you still would have to make an occasional trip to Pattaya to fetch some girls.
most of the small guesthouses i asked about room rates, where a little cheaper than those you could find in pattaya. it all depends on what the person is looking for. another good choice is to bring your own chick but you might forfeit a little variety.

Murasaki;
I am not an authority on this train service from bangkok to the airport. all i can vouch for is that is an extension line from the present BTS Skytrain. so, this aside, i did used it a few times and mainly i used to get on the BTS skytrain and have to go to Phaya Thai station where everybody have to transfer to the line that goes to the airport. coming back you just reverse from the airport and from Phaya Thai the passenger can go wherever the final destination on Bangkok might be.
I do beleive is not an old line and it was just set up and running a few years back. do not know when 'cause i don't go to thailand every year.
I beleive is a big help for tourist so you can skip the taxis, unless you got a lot of baggage, then you got no choice.
Now, also you got the choice of private bus services like Bell travel services that'll take you to Pattaya or jomtien for a fee.
so there it is and i didn't sugar coated at all !!!!
MarcoPolo
PS- When i left Bangkok last time i just walk from the hotel to the nana station Bags and all!!!), took the train to phaya tai and then caught my ride to the airport. can't beat for about THB 60 or so baths!!!!

Bigpoppa;
The hotel Blanket and Bean is guest friendly, it cost THB 1,200 a night. I'm pretty sure if you would stay weekly or longer, you might get a lower rate.
I do saw that the rooms are a little tight, maybe is me or what; the room i had, though very comfortable, it did look smalller.
I also stayed at other guesthouses not listed on my report but i thought those were too cheap to actually used them as a basecamp for mongering; i reasoned if i can fork out good bucks to come all the way here, i shouldn't try to be living and having fun out of a shoebox, thai style. i may be cheap sometimes, BUT not that cheap!!!

Marco, I am with you. Ever since the airport line opened, I have always taken it to Phaya Thai station, where I transfer to BTS and take that to Nana station. I literally haven't taken a taxi to or from the airport ever since the line opened. If there is a train, I'm on it. I can't stand being stuck in traffic.

Marco, Great photos! Nice way to spent an hour on Sat night and read your report. It's been 4.5 years since I was in AC, and 12 years since Thailand, it is great to see a report with some familiar sites!
It's been 5.5 years since we met in AC, hope you are well. Oh it's been 4.5 years since I have been laid! Dam! I retire in 2 long years, lets meet up then.

Love it. Wall to wall images. Who needs words, sez the ancient writer...
This makes me sad I'll be missing Pattaya this year. Could very well see myself settling there in 5 years when and if my Social Security kicks in. If I can ween myself off the $100 per WS girls.

Thanks for the comments, i do take it all in stride and even constructive ones to improved my reports. anything in the benefit of this great website and enjoyment of all menbers.
Sanfran, is good to hear from you, surely i remenbered teaming up in AC year's ago, always my very best to you.
Pattaya/Bangkok and AC has changed tons since my first trips to Asia in the early '80s; some for good and some for bad but you can't stop progress and time./

Now that was a short trip. Seems you had to spend more on transportation than your time actually mongering. Cant say I would bother with such a short stay. Seemed like you are less into mongering and more into just relaxing at a backpackers hotel and eating a big breakfast and fast food during the day. We all have our groove that we get into as we get older.
By Marcopolo on Monday, March 07, 2016 - 08:03 am: Edit
Blazers;
Not a short trip at all, in any case, i tend to manage my time and make it entertaining, not just anchoring my butt in a single location.
Do have stayed in lower class lodgings along life, BUT, this hotel is not a back packers deal. glad to see you stay only in 6 stars places, very happy for you.
I try to post my reports in a relax and fun way, with photos mixed with my explanations and not just make a solid mass of letters and boring, just like some of these menbers "DO". I don't sweeten it or try to distorted; its just what it is, no more no less.
At the end is fun and the good times that i'm trying to share with you all. is my "groove" as you put it. don't expect to be an eternal menber of this website; nothing last forever in life but i would like to leave behind my trip reports to show i was a "true" menber and not just a freeloader.///

I guess for me...couple nights in Pattaya then fly to Manila and ride to AC for a couple nights then back track again for a couple nights in Thailand makes out to where half of your vacation time is dedicated to traveling by plane and bus.
I think your hotels are fine and I stay in cheaper hotels too. I will post some recommendations later

Marco,
By now you know Mr. Blazers. He always has something negative to say about someone's reports....always. What he doesn't seem to realize is that mongers love to travel. It's the whole experience that we love, not just the 2 20 minute sessions per day. I know none of us work hard enough to find the absolute best mongering value either.
The point of mongering is that there's more reward for less work compared to the work of attracting and keeping a girlfriend or wife. The point of a forum is to show you how to do it with pleasure and avoiding major pitfalls. There's always something imperfect about where you monger and whom with whether it be price, personality, looks etc. It still beats a Western relationship any day.
It's funny how only Blazers gets the girls who are ok and enough of them and at the right price. Everyone else's picks are no good. In summation, nevermind Blazers, he hasn't shown us anything about mongering we don't already know in years so he has nothing left to do but troll and then deny it.

Glad you had a great time, MP. Thanks for the pictorial tour. It was fun seeing some favorite spots.
Blazers, come on, man. We know you have your own style. Believe me, we know. Anytime someone posts a trip report, we hear your critique of their style, with its implications of the superiority of your style. Can't you just say "hey, glad you enjoyed your trip, thanks for the report"?
By Murasaki on Monday, March 07, 2016 - 07:01 pm: Edit
Bigpoppa, did you say two "20 minute" sessions per day? Where in Asia are sessions that short? My minimum is an hour.
And Marco, I apologize for the boring, solid mass of letters that I post. I don't take pictures, so masses of letters are all I have to offer...
By Marcopolo on Tuesday, March 08, 2016 - 02:52 am: Edit
Murasaki;
I didn't mean nothing negative of you when i mentioned some reports are "solid mass of letters". don't keep tabs on your reports or how you type/post them. do appreciate EVERY report, just it makes it less appealing and hard to read, that's all. in any case, if this offended you, my true apologies my friend. is never my intention to offend any menber. I AM NOT THE HOLY GRAIL ON MONGER REPORTS !!!! i do always make mistakes and errors so what i am saying is i'm not perfect. truly sorry murasaki and don't need to hold any grudges of any kind, ok.
Bigpoppa;
thanks for the comments. you are truly on the nail on the comments about mongering. of course we try to look, seek and have the time of our lifes with the honey of our dreams, but overall is the fun, places we see, travel we have, enjoyment and far away cuisine we taste that makes this trips worthwhile in life.
We do this fun trips and do share pittfalls and how to avoid them. I have never had more fun overseas than dealing with western relationships any day, had enough with silly attitudes of American chicks to waste my time with them. I honestly do not hold any bad feelings on blazers, his opinions and i will leave at it. in life you can't pleased the whole world (learned it ages ago).
I do try to make my reports entertaining and just for the record, my sessions with a girl are "ALWAYS MORE THAN 20 MINUTES"!!! just making fun guys, i do make the most of it when i am with a girl for the night.

Thanks a lot for the photos and report....OMG..it has been so long since I was in LOS...at least south america and Angeles keep me somewhat entertained.
Mmmm...yes...Blazers always seems to have something negative to say about reports...what up with dat?
Anyways, most of us recognize that monger AND travelling style is user dependent and the important thing is that you are enjoying yourself...and sharing info.
I wish I had energy to put into writing reports but I always feel that I will tell you guys stuff that you already know...however I do enjoy the stories...some of you guys are great story tellers...and funny to boot...
Thank you again and keep on sharing!
PS: will be in Angeles in second half of April if anyone wants to meet for a beer and cewek picking...

Fellow Hombres;
My vacation is almost over for the meantime and getting close to go back to the "salt mine" (work). still, happy my job gives me the liberty to travel a lot and kind of scout overseas for private trips on my own.
Just came back from Tijuana and this time it was damn hard to get pics of the girls!!! what's up with that?!?!?! i beleive they are getting internet savvy!!!
Anyways, do have a short report to post on Batam island/Indonesia.
Will take another break in sep/oct and want to make it that time at least 6-7 weeks. want to used that time to head to angeles city and maybe another spot not yet decided (DR, Russia or Peru ?!?!).

Pictures are good, words are good - everything should be appreciated.
Staying in one place for a month or taking 7 flights in 10 days (something I did in January of last year and it was an incredible trip) - they both have their merits.
Add to that diverse tastes in women and styles of services desired - and you'll always have differing opinions.
This board gets nowhere near the action it used too. So it's probably not a great idea to shit all over someone's report. Which doesn't mean opinions shouldn't be offered. And it certainly doesn't mean you can't disagree with someone.
As far as I know, no one gets paid to write reports. People write them for varying reasons, but all take some amount of time and effort when they do post a report on the board.
I appreciated the time and effort put into this report. And it opened my eyes to the train running from the airport into Bangkok. Not that I'll be taking it - I still like jumping into a cab.
And I still really like papas criollas!
By Bigpoppa on Wednesday, March 09, 2016 - 08:19 am: Edit
I guess I need to clarify...
When saying 20 minute sessions, I was just grabbing a hypothetical average time a guy lasts out of the air. YMMV and I wasn't suggesting anything about anyone's bedroom prowess. If I don't finish in 20 minutes I've probably had too much to drink.
By Bigpoppa on Wednesday, March 09, 2016 - 09:03 am: Edit
To most of you above....my points exactly. There's certainly some useful info in this report that will benefit a traveler to BKK or AC especially first timers and even veterans. I never knew a thing about the hotel above emotions and touch of class or bean and blanket right next to Dynasty.
A google search showed me that bean and blanket had been reported on other forums a few years back. However, I don't have the time or desire to read every post and thread on every board to find these things out. I've had the best success in my travels by reading the "whole experience" trip reports right here on CH. Lots of brief posts don't inspire me to explore the world. An extended tale with the good old 5 Ws and H of writing do.

A quick look at Blazers contributions to the board include 53 trip reports, some of which are well written guides, 24 awards and over 1000 pics of the ladies.
I've met Blazers. I know Blazers. You chaps are no Blazers! LOL
All kidding aside, I tend to tolerate the opinions of those contribute like he does, even if it does at times resemble Statler or Waldorf

DD, the point about Blazers wasn't focused on his TR's which are epic, usually informative and typically include a fair amount of sexy gals. Something which many TR's these days are lacking (Bwana Dik's excluded), are an abundance of sexy, naked GALS! To be frank, I hope he gets back on the circuit and adds to his top shelf TR portfolio. Other members were pointing out his criticisms on their Mongering Style among other things. I think others are taking his observations/critiques too personal in that he's actually looking to share a point and hoping his statements will offer different options and considerations. That's his style and he like me is blunt and to the point. Could he offer his opinions in a more amicable fashion? Probably but that's not his style, get over it.

Thanks for the TR MP, glad you enjoyed this episode and decided to share. So you threw in the towel and moved out of Angeles? Gotta be missing all that fine cuisine which AC is famous for, LOL!

Fellow Hombres;
In a way i didn't or wasn't planning to make an issue about comments on trip reports, like i pointed out before, not the final authority on reports and i made it clear.
On the same token, on the comment from Dondingo said, of course i am not Blazers and don't want to be him; i am well happy being myself!!!!
On another subject, i've nothing to do with Blazers comments been pulled out by the moderator. on the contrary when i was contacted by clubhombre, i mentioned i'm ok with all kinds of comments and criticism from anybody for that matter. i also added that i consider Blazers and trying to quote this: "I see Blazers a step above myself", so you see guys, over the years i've read Blazers reports and comments and learned the good stuff from them.
I do log mainly into club hombre during my vacation time since when i am at work and away from home i get pretty busy and not able to surf the net as much as possible. places like the middle east you can't log into this website or any adult oriented site, so there you have it.
One other point, on this last trip i decided to make a sudden detour to angeles city (just 4-5 days or so); 'cause a good friend of mine brooke his leg in a very dumb accident and wanted to be there to give him some moral support; otherwise i would have stayed the whole time in Pattaya. just setting the record straight.
I try to make my reports entertaining and informative, not just humping chicks (which still the main reason above all!!!). do my best and learned over the years not to repeat mistakes of any kind.
Have another small report on Batam island which i will post this week.

I guess I should have been more tactful.
My main point is that it's better to wait until you have more time so that you are not spending more time traveling than actually enjoying yourself and that there are hotel of much better value if you look hard enough.

I do not want to get off topic or steal the thread but for the record....
I, just like many here, appreciate and look forward to Blazers (and others) reports. No question that he knows what up and writes fun reports.
Again, we all have different styles and approaches and taste...that IS better for everybody and hearing about different styles is useful to everybody...
I go for the leaner still shapely gal...I was just in Bogota and was cruising around Santa Fe...there were some live female cartoons there with tits like torpedos I kid you not...I could do pull ups on those babies....LOL...never been my style and I used to chuckle at that...but then I was buzzed and bored (La piscina was weak and el castillo had not filled yet)...I started thinking...well...why not...hahah
Thanks MP for sharing, photos and stories. Thank you all for sharing!
