Two things before I begin:


First, I'd like to express my sorrow over the recent passing of Bulldog, a great and very generous monger known to Bwana and others in this community. Bulldog beat cancer a decade ago but this year he finally lost the fight. Bulldog and I have traveled for a decade and had tons of fun. I can't believe he's gone :-(


Second, I am outraged at the sentencing of Cuba Dave who has already been in jail for over a year without a trial. This verdict means the owners of this site and all who posted about Costa Rica here are liable for arrest, should they enter that country. You can read the full story here:

I spent a long week in the land of smiles, mostly in Bangkok but with a couple of nights in Phuket as well. I flew on premium economy via Singapore Airlines -- a $1900 ticket but totally worth it. I will never fly on sardine class to Asia again.


This was high season, and the quality was really low everywhere. Nana was okay but not nearly as much fun as during low season. Patpong I did not visit at all, and SoyCowboy ripped me off, as usual. The going rate for long time is 5000 + barfine around 700.


The best pulls came from the freelance scene, which I highly recommend. I had a hot pull from the basement club of the Ambassador hotel on Soi 11. This joint now charges 250 as the entrance fee, but that is still way less than the typical barfine.


In Phuket, the best scene was likewise at the big dance clubs, which were packed with freelancers. Lots of long legged honeys in tiny shorts with hair down to their asses. Overall, I liked the Phuket scene more, but the airport is a horrible third world relic, and the food and the shopping are no match to Bangkok’s luxuries.


I've been going to Asia for a decade and it's been fun, but I am now done. The action is cheaper than in Latin America but if you fly premium, the high cost of the flight will cancel out any savings. In addition, the jet lag will wreck you for weeks after you return. The flights will take up three days. You can easily spend a long weekend anywhere in Latin America but not in the Far East. If you have never done Bangkok, do it but only in low season and in style.

A great guy indeed! He could have lived a couple more decades.

The Bangkok rate for long time is now up to 5000. Club Eden charges only 4000, but some tipping is expected. Still one of the best deal in town and some of the most dedicated women, too.

Phuket is cheaper. You can get 4000 deals for long time even now. The freelancers inside the dance clubs, or even the street, are the way to go.

I spent $1500 in 10 days for women, food and entertainments, which is still a heck of a deal.

You can find a five star hotel in the middle of Patong right next to the main drag, which is Thanon Bangla. I found a five star hotel for $100/night easy walking distance from Bangla on Google maps.

For Bangkok, the Majestic Grande remains one of the few places that does not have bed bugs. Even five star hotels have them in BKK. Disgusting!

PB, I am curious about your statement that flights to Asia take up to 3 days. It's 23 hours door to door for me from the U.S. I am with you on it taking weeks to recover from the jetlag when I return, but 3 days is a headscratcher for me.

Yes, Murasaki. You spend two days flying there and loose another day coming back, so I count 3 days wasted on travel. Compare this to Brazil or Columbia where you can be in bed with a hottie the same day that you took off.

I did go to Terminal 21 and made use of the food court. I must say, I like food almost as much as sex. BKK is great because you can have both. The only thing the Brazilians know how to make is pizza ;-)

I am still outraged over the sentencing of Cuba Dave. This site should put out a warning so people would stop booking CR in the future. Costa Rica can thank half their wealth to us. How do they dare arrest a US monger?

Good intel on the Ambassador hotel. Sounds like the Nana hotel Angel's disco of yore. I fully identified with you when you said you are done going to SEA. I stopped years ago because the hassle factor just keeps growing and the prices keep rising. When it stops being an enjoyable experience for yourself, it makes no sense to continue doing it.

That being said, I do want to go back to SEA again since life is short, but only when I can do it with nearly as much ease as back around the turn of the century. Can we start saying that yet?

I'm glad to see someone else on a forum, not a moderator, who is outraged about Cuba Dave. Yes! Finally someone gets it and takes it personally. Attention readers: you too can be locked up for 5 years for purposes of public relations! Think about that before blaming Dave for his misfortune. A situation this severe was beyond anyone's imagination before it happened.

What to do about it? Step 1- boycott Costa Rica. I've been looking at places to travel in January and Costa Rica actually has the lowest airfares. This normally draws me to a new location, but not this time! I simply refuse to give any money at all to that society.

Step 2 - Give your money to societies who don't demonize male heterosexuality to include partaking of prostitutes. I'm not saying the country has to officially endorse the practice, but instead has civilized policies regarding it. I'm talking about Europe and the FKKs of Germany specifically. Even the RLD in Amsterdam. Both of those countries promote the advancement of women's rights to the max and still tolerate prostitution. Canada is on my future to visit list. Colombia and Brazil, while not nearly as progressive towards women, will not land you in jail for fooling around with chicas. Vote with your dollars!

Forum moderators where are you? You must discourage travel to Costa Rica. I know that could slow down traffic in the short term. After all, there's people who still travel there for sex and report on it. But letting it look like a viable destination not only does forum readers a disservice and could hurt your credibility, it could put you in the crosshairs of the Costa Rican government!

Yes, we should boycott Costa Rica. Columbia, Cuba and Brazil serve us even better, so CR is not necessary at all.

Be aware of Amsterdam. I was nearly arrested there for nothing recently. The place is going down faster than Hillary Clinton.

He was basically set up by a former friend, who used to manage Dave's Youtube Channel "David Strekker." Dave used his actual name to build credibility and a youtube revenue. As a result he had been run out of the DR and I think even Cuba.

A lot of people criticize him for continuing to be so public, citing his past encounters with immigration departments as a warning, but I can sympathize. He's an old guy and he's never been a big shot in any career and within a few years he's an internet star and earns a living sharing his stories and advice. How do you turn that down? He's frequently discouraged visitors from being involved in drugs, and other illegal activities as well as not acting out in someone else's country. No one imagined he would be arrested for just that and go 6 years total in jail (1 pretrial + 5 year sentence). I'm sure his critics will say they saw it all coming--yeah bullshit.

But just saying on the world wide web how practical it is to come by prostitutes in a given country amounts to rubbing public officials' noses in it. That's bad publicity and it's easy to see why he's denied entry to certain locations. Fair enough, they don't have to let in guests that they don't like.

In one of his last videos, Dave advised against relocating to Costa Rica or the DR full time, citing quality of life issues you would have to put up with while the mongering scene is not enough to keep you interested long term. This, I believe was the last straw for CR. CR markets itself as a retirement destination where you or a family can enjoy a quality of life comparable to the US for a fraction of the cost. I just re read that article and it's ominous how Dave says he would be locked up if the language was too explicit.
