Help has reopened in Rio! January 19th 2017. It was only a soft opening with the whole Club to open in a month

Details pls. Address? Size of club? Did they save the old vomit stained carpet?

That's an interesting first post.

What the hell is a soft opening? Is that like a soft shell crab or a soft boiled egg? Maybe more like a soft landing , Or a soft noodle.

Considering that Help was torn down 7 years ago and the 3/4 completed museum is currently on that spot, I'll call bullshit on this. Some small shithole decided to rename itself Help or something, if even that.

At the very best, another club calling itself Help. Nothing wrong with that if it brings another venue to find girls, but something on the scale of Help will be pretty difficult to re-create considering the high real estate prices in Rio's Zona Sul (i.e. Like Copacabana).

But, Banihur could share more information on this new club it certainly would be welcomed..... but I would suggest reducing any expectations on a "return of Help".

Balcony Bar is long gone as well and history - the rest of the clubs there are crap, Barbarella overpriced and I don't even bother, so let's see.

Reopened on a new location, being the premises where the former Le Boy, Le Girl were located.

Interesting. Not sure whether I'm glad or not. Not a great location. It's pretty dark over there.

As expected. I wasn't aware that LeBoy/LeGirl had closed, but I never kept tabs on the gay spots. That's not the worst spot crimewise, but crime is back to 2002-2004 levels all over Rio and in some places, even worse.

Wondering if the management crew will be the same as the old Help. But in what ever way you look at it this is an addition the various options available.
Now if L'oumo decide to open shop again we might well be witnessing a return of the glory day's of the first decade of this century. Add to that the slow decline of the economy that has set in, things can be getting interesting for the "average budget monger" like myself.

The renamed gay club has zero to do with Help. Someone just picked that name and is trying to pawn it off as a continuation of the old place to make money off of the name. This place is very small compared to Help.

It reminds me of the fast food restaurant in "Coming to America". "We're not McDonalds, we're McDowells. They have the Golden Arches, we have the Golden Arcs".

Anyone who goes to Rio expecting a time machine to drop them off in 2005 is going to be sorely disappointed.

Well is the concept that made Help what is was. The location and exact time bracket was just part thereof; they do not define the entire concept by themself. So it might well be that the same concept can be revived in a different location and time. Starting off with the same name is already a (small) step in that direction if you ask me. Let just see how this will pan out. Going out every nite and being able to pick up girls in a pseudo "real world" setting has it's specific charms imho.

The same concept? A nightclub with hookers and mongers? There are plenty of places like that in Rio and have been like that for years and decades. La Dolce Vida, Barbarela, La Cicc, even smaller spots in Lido and Ipanema.

The girls at Help had/have zero connection with the "house", unlike the other places you mention.

True this is not a trip report, but until we get some it does very nicely -- information on one of the main venues.

Crime rising; the economy collapsing? This is music to my ears.

I hope quite a few families who go down there after demanding the closure of Help and a more "family friendly" Rio will get stabbed or shot. Countless of such family people demanded a stop to the sex scene but now that the olympics are over, the scene must revert back to where it was.

You can't change a culture overnight.
