I am adding this short note to warn fellow travelers. I was recently in the great city and went inside the ladyboy massage place on Sukhumvit near Nana but on the north side of the road. You probably know the place.
I had been inside this place many times and never had a problem. This time, I did not see a manager, and the ground floor area seemed to have been taken over by a retailer. You had to go upstairs for your session.
Once inside, the ladyboy stuck to massaging only my legs. I asked several times when she will get to the point, but she never really answered or moved up to my pleasure center.
After a while of this time wasting, I got tired and stood up, but she would not let me out and threatened to call in others to extract money from me. I finally gave her 1500 Bahts and was let go. That's roughly 50 bucks for nothing.
Not a huge loss, but a good reminder not go inside layboy establishments because these creatures have the physical power of a man and can cause serious problems. It is better to take out.
As for that particular joint on Sukhumvit, I recommend you all avoid it even for takeout. Fuck them!

I was nearly mugged by a ladyboy, I was walking down a dark section of the Sukhumvit road going towards soi cowboy when a boy of about ten years started shouting something in Thai, I knew something was up then suddenly out popped this ladyboy.
He lurched towards me where I grabbed him and put him in an arm lock, I did Aikido at the time, him realising I did martial arts he concentrating on turning his pelvis away from me to avoid being kick in the balls this was my saviour.
We was in this position for a good few minutes, In the end I let the arm lock go and we both backed off I carried on going on to soi cowboy.

On Sukhumvit? What the Hell? How late was this? Is the economy getting worse or what? I'd been visiting the place for 14 years and never had a problem.

That's not good. I'll keep my eyes open next week.
I thought that the Thai economy was on fire, even the girls from Issan can find jobs without hooking up with tourists.

I'll be in BKK for Thanksgiving. If any of you are in town and interested in getting together for a drink, let me know.

I'll be in Bangkok from November 16th to the 20th, then heading down to Pattaya the morning of the 21st and staying there through Dec 1st.
The street mugging attempt does seem really odd, especially on Suk.

Redbus, She wouldn't have grabbed you if you'd paid her.
Muggings along Sukhumvit are pretty damned rare. BKK is one place I've never even felt a hint of danger, other than from some street food I ate. There are some meth-heads about, but usually they're too fucked up to attack someone.

Catocony, I am arriving a bit after the 20th but may visit Pattaya -- depending on the action I find in BKK. I'll be in touch if we overlap.

The new Patpong museum has opened up so if anyone's in that area be nice for a trip report, on social media they say there's history about patpong and on the nightlife there.
