Visited the new Potpong museum recently. Not easy to find. It is in Potpon Alley 2 on the South side on the 2nd floor.
The museum is small but cool. It shows a lot of organized crime activity from the past but is silent about the current gang's activities.
The character who originally bought this property was a Chinese immigrant named Potpong. The business existed long before the bars and was originally conducted in unmarked private houses.
My favorite exhibit was the original pre-gasoline TukTuk, which was essentially a human powered rickshaw. How beautiful and clean the city must have been back then.
I also visited the Bangkokian museum in the West of the city. Another hard-to-find but cool spot featuring a property where a doctor lived around 1900.

Despite the high season, pulls were very good and service not too mercenary. Even Soy Cowboy bars calmed down on the lady drinks and baronies. Barfines are at 1200 + 3000/6000 for the girl.

You can now take electric cabs from the airport operated by EV Society:

The cost is about the same as a new gasoline car, so there's no excuse.

You say new car...is it near the same price an old regular cab that I usually grab.
| By Pussyboy on Thursday, December 19, 2019 - 07:15 pm: Edit |
No. It is the price of a new cab... about $25. Well worth the money, if you ask me, but definitely more than a beat up old Corolla.
By the way, I am back in LOS for late January. If anybody wants to meet for a beer, let me know.

I pay around 500 baht for a meter taxi from the airport to Suk, so you're getting hussled at 750 baht.

Add a few dollars and contribute to the country we all love and don't want to see destroyed by pollution.

I pay 45 baht for the train to Phaya Thai station, and then 32 baht for the skytrain from Phaya Thai to Nana.
Since the day the train line opened, I have not taken a cab to or from the airport.

I get in too late for the train, otherwise I would do the same.

I tried the train, but with a 20+hr flight, one 50+lbs luggage and a heavy backpack...
I'll take the car.
Is it 500THB now from BKK to Suk?
Did tolls go up?

I've paid 500 baht, both coming and going, the last few trips. Like Catocony, I get in too late for the train. Like Ceenotes, I'm more than willing to drop 500 baht so as not to have to drag bags around anywhere.

You guys all flying the shitty U.S carriers? They all seem to be the ones with the late arrival times.
Coming from the U.S., I usually arrive at around 11 a.m. on EVA.

I agree with Murasaki. I rather buck up a little more and fly in at noon to make full value of my stay. This also includes, departing BKK in the afternoon. Those United/ANA 7am departures were freakin brutal. I use to show up drunk at the ticket counter at 5am from going all night.
Murasaki..I don't think there is any "shitty US carriers" that fly into BKK. They all partner out.
ANA and JAL has some very late or very early arrival times.
United - ANA
Delta - Korean
AA - Cathay

Glory to the train people. I took the train the very first time it ran and back then, it was amazing. There was practically nobody on it. Then more and more people appeared until it became an overcrowded ride of misery. I no longer take it. Too bad.
With the electric cab, my conscience is clean. Let' s not forget I pay $50 for a ride to JFK with an unshaven, turbaned bloke at the wheel.
Speaking of airlines, the chaos in Hong Kong has pushed prices on Cathay down into the basement. I'm seeing premium economy flights on Cathay to HKG at $1300.
It is sad that the seafood restaurant area near the Beergarten has still not been rebuilt into anything. They are just leaving it empty :-(
