BOTTOM LINE: Slim pickens', but if you're passing through here you may find even less at your next destination, so have a look if you're desperate.

Krabi is a small town east of Phuket that serves as a travel hub to the surrounding beaches and islands. You might find yourself spending the night here after flying in; there's an airport in Krabi. (Sometimes transliterated as Grabi.)

I stayed at the Vieng Thong Hotel at 155 Uttrakit Road. All the drivers know where it is. Got an air-conditioned room with hot shower for 700 baht.

The bell hop offered to bring me a lady. I declined because I want to choose from many. There is a massage parlor next to the hotel. Went there at 10 p.m. There was an "aquarium window" to look though like the soapy massage places have, but it was empty. There were two girls there.

The Vieng Thong Hotel has a Karaoke bar on the ground level. If you see one you like you tell the waitress you want to buy a drink for her. I went in around 11 p.m. Most of them were in their 30's. Nothing for me.

Had a motorbike taxi take me elsewhere after telling him what I wanted. He drove one click (kilometer) north to another massage place just like the one described above, except with three girls. Nothing for me. There was a lady bar next door with a couple girls; the cuter one came out to flag me down. Nothing for me. Pass.

Aside: One of my favorite destinations near Krabi was Ao Nang (Nang Beach). My map of Thailand doesn't even list it. You can take a boat to some neat dive/snorkel spots like Ko Hong (Room Island) and many others from there. Got a nice fan room with a huge bed for 600 baht, but you can do better. Ao Nang is a clean little beach town with a mile-long strip of restaurants, guest houses, dive shops, and massage parlors. An hour of oil massage was 300 baht, or 600 in your hotel room --I opted for that. For a hand job I had to bribe her with 1000 baht more! But it was FUN and safe. She was 24 years old, not too cute, and feigned innocence by telling me that I had to show her what to do. I just thought yeah, right; you've seen more "weenies" than an Oscar Mayer truck. I inquired as to "long time" (i.e., having her spend the night); for that she wanted 5000 baht --out of the question anywhere in Thailand.
