What a trip. 64 days on the road, 9 countries, sex with 43 different women, many of them multiple times. I have already submitted trip reports for my antics in Cambodia, Macau, Malaysia and Singapore. Now comes the coup de grace of my trip report series: Bangkok. Simply put, it’s still the best.

I wrote a mega-report on Thailand detailing my trip back in November of 2001. There is a lot of information in that report that is pertinent to the newbie or those who are really unfamiliar with Bangkok. This report is geared towards those more familiar with the scene. I’m going to skip most basic information this time around and get down to business.

This report covers Bangkok between November 15 and December 29, 2002. I used BKK as my base of operations for my travels throughout SE Asia. Typically I’d be in BKK a week, then go to another country for 4-7 days, come back to BKK for a week, go to another country for 4-7 days. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the only way to see SE Asia!

I started off writing this report categorically, like the previous Thai report, but as I got into it, it made more sense for me to address everything chronologically. So on with the countdown…..

November 15th, first night in Bangkok. Just arrived from a couple of days in Taipei. I decided to kick off the festivities at Nana Plaza, and for some reason that I can’t remember now, Angel Witch on the second floor was the first door I walked through. It might have been because I had never been in there before. Had a drink with a Brit who worked in Kuwait and came to BKK every three months for R&R. He was splitting for Cambodia the next day and invited me to tag along, but I declined, as I wanted to get some Bangkok action in before tackling the Vietnamese girls in Phnom Penh.

The selection in Angel Witch that night was pretty good. It didn’t take me long to make a selection. There was a very cute young thing making a lot of eye contact with me. He said something about me needing a taxi and I said no and kept walking, but he kept following me. As I turned down the entryway to the Plaza building, he passed me and started talking on his cell phone. My scam radar went off. We arrived at the entrance at the same time, and he started chatting with the collection of guys hanging out at the door. I hesitated but went in, expecting the worse.

And I got the worse. The papasan was hard line on me paying 2500. At Cupidy's! He didn't care that I been there before, and had paid 1500 on previous visits. He wouldn't even negotiate with me. I was willing to go up, but he wouldn't come down. He was quite mean about it too, and told me to go elsewhere, they didn't want my business if I wouldn't pay 2500.

Yes, the Thai sense of building customer loyalty is astounding, isn't it? Needless to say, I walked. From this point things got even more interesting. Just as I rounded the corner of the Prince hotel and headed towards the soi where Embassy/Harlem/Angara are, I turned around to see the same taxi guy following me, still on foot. And guess what, he whipped out his cell phone and made another call. I knew immediately that I was being set up again. He passed me again and I shouted to him "Hey", but he ignored me. I stopped and hovered at the entrance of the soi that leads to Harlem.

He hung out with yet another group of guys. I made it plain that I was staring at him. Knowing these places were out of the question now, I headed towards Atami, while constantly looking back. The taxi driver walked up to one of his friends, talked for a bit... then the friend started to follow me! These fuckheads couldn't even be discrete. I gave up and walked back to Sukhumvit, got on the Skytrain and headed to Chao Phraya 2. Thank god that place doesn't pay taxi commissions.

One of the really sad things about this is that it seems the papasans are in on this scam of taxi guys claiming to bring guys who didn't come by taxi. I'm sure the papasans are getting their own separate cut out of all this (the extra money certainly isn’t going to the girls). I've gotten really fed up with all the crap one faces with a lot of the massage parlors in Bangkok these days, and the high prices. They're not justified in my mind. So I’ve decided to focus most of my energy on go-gos and the freelance scene, with just the occasional visit to places like the CP2.

The next evening I went to the Long Gun on Soi Cowboy. LG has consistently been my favorite go-go over the years. Agree with DJ-- both trip reports are excellent resources. However . Murasaki I think was just relating his adventures,while I believe Xenono's report was specifically designed to be a travel guide type report. You cannot go wrong following either report. DG, like has already been said, I recommend my trip report from November, 2001, which was more detailed with hard facts than the one just posted, which was far more aesthetically pleasing.

I also highly suggest reading Xen and Dart's joint report, Back and Forth in Thailand, and Xen's more recent one as well.
