Having just returned from Rio I feel compelled to offer some thoughts on Centaurus. In eight previous trips to Rio I had always avoided the infamous Centaurus on principle ,but this trip found me often in Ipenema, and I decided to relent and attempt an objective review. To my surprise I found many reasons to like the club. Unfortunately none of these had anything to do with the club itself or the way it was run. To be fair the line-up of talent was excellent with some exceptional standouts. Instead of looking for the ones who would be acceptable choices one is hard pressed to eliminate more than a handfull of these girls. This is true even in light of the extraordinary standards which pertain in Rio. I did five girls from this club (not enough to form a good representative sample). Of these, three were excellent performers, one was fair, and one was pathetic. I am hesitant to form any negative impression based on those two and I would rather believe that the quality of these girls to be rather uniformly high. Certainly, purely in terms of looks, the Centaurus crew was a notch above the normal, and any monger not travelling on a limited budget would do well to give them a good look. On one recent evening (about 6:00) I was one of 7 men in the boite with about 50 women. This provided for optimum viewing and was quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, the quality of the girls is not the only indicator of the quality of a club, and Centaurus has its share of problems.

A list of things I hate about Centaurus...

1)The infamous tourist tax. If one admits to being a first time visitor or a tourist or if one arrives by cab one is subject to a 20 R tax.As far as I can tell this is simply a surcharge for those who do not know any better. Not a customer friendly policy.
2) Unlike any other terma, Centaurus requires upfront payment of 290R. This includes one 40 min session and the entrance fee, and is about half again as much as most other termas. Not only does one pay more...one also loses the ability to NOT do a session.
3)Illogical pricing.For some strange reason a one hour session costs more than two 40 min sessions. One needs to be very careful with the bill and not assume that things will make sense.
4)Unlike other termas, Centaurus assigns a girl to act as a guide. Depending on the girl, they can be difficult to shake and this can inhibit ones ability to view and choose from the entire field. More annoying than anything else, this problem can usually be dealt with by means of a judiciously timed trip to the showers.
5)A general attitude of hustle. At no other terma have I been made to feel like a mark. At other clubs offers of drinks are frequently declined or girls only get what they really want.I guess I had been lulled into a false sense of security and I was shocked to find that a few of the girls had taken advantage of my drink offers to pad my bill with 36R drinks. This happened with several girls before I had an opportunity to catch it. Since this has NEVER happened to me at another terma I can only assume that it arrises from a Centaurus peculiarity or, at least, from its general attitude.
6)I only drink water in termas and, while it seems like a small thing, it annoys me when they serve the water in small cups rather in the standard bottles. They are already charging me 4 or 5 times what the drink normally costs...come on, give me a decent drink for my money.
7)The rooms. Eventhough the cabinas are larger than normal, they are grungy and unappealing without the usual good mirror array which is one of the high points of the terma experience.To add insult to injury, the beds are slick and plastic covered and the sheets come undone with even the most minimal action. Why is it so difficult to obtain adequate linens? No one else seems to have this problem.

Does this sound like I am being overly critical and petty? No doubt it does, but the essence of a review is to be objective and critical and it is only fair to compare Centaurus to the other Rio termas ,and, unfortunately, it suffers from such comparisons. Anywhere else Centaurus would be the top of the heap and it is certainly worth a look from anyone not on a tight budget, but it falls victim to the elevated standard which is one of Rio's most interesting effects.

My friends and I were not assigned a guide the times that we were there. It sounds like an obnoxious policy, and I am glad we didn't have to deal with that.

I had a great time at Centaurus, and noticed that the girls there were even better looking than other places, on average. But I'm beginning to see why you prefer L'Uomo.

By the way, those old reports of yours are fantastic.

Damn. I was eager to try this place out but your review sound pretty objective and makes me want to avoid it like all my brothers. I've been down to Rio almost every month this year and now I see why no one wants to go there.

I'll probably still try it but the girls don't look better than the other girls at some other termas. Hmmm. Thanks for the good report and pictures.

I went to Centaurus a couple of years ago - the only thing I really didnt like was the long wait for a cabin after I had made arrangements with a girl or girls. The second time I went, I think I had to wait more than an hour. They stick you in a waiting room with a bunch of lounge chairs and other waiting "couples." this happened to me both times I was there. On my first visit, I did a dupla and dug it so much I kept the girls around for two extra 40 minute sessions. I think they added on some sort of hourly surcharge for the room, on top of the charge for the girls that I expected to pay for the time beyond the included session. I didn't want to pay it, but what was I gonna do.

anyway, that's the only therma that I have visited. Do the other places make you wait that long for the cabins?

Only in Brazil. One time I was there and the Brazilero's (male Brazilians) were just plane ignoring the ladies. Why? Because there was a tv soccer (futbol in Brazil) between Brazil and Uraguay. This brought everything to a stop. The girls were waiting for customers, the customers were watching futbol, and the whole place was dead. Yet there were 40 - 50 girls there just doing nothing.


Maybe for a better selection, the only time you should go to a terma in Rio is where there is a big soccer (futbol) game on tv. At least you can have your choice of women in the terma.

Centaurus was the only terma where I had to wait for on my trip last year. I'm not sure if I had to wait for the room or the girl, as she had me stand in the hall while she did whatever.

My Centaurus girl was in the top three in looks of the girls I did in Rio. A lot of people don't like Centaurus policies, but I'd probably still go at least once per trip to see what the selection was like.

I had to wait at least a little while for rooms at many termas, if I was there during peak business periods. Could this be related to being there just after Carnaval? More garotas, thus and more business???

The waiting was sometimes a pain (see D'art's post) but was often not a big problem. it just meant a little extra time chatting, kissing, etc.

I agree with everything that you said, and even with all of that, Centaurus is in my top 3 termas based on my last trip in Feb. I was going there virtually every day. After a while, they waved the tourist tax (even when I took a taxi there) and a couple of times I did not pay up front.

But the main reason is the women. There are a lot more fresh faces in Centaurus, and the selection is always incredible.

I'll be back there next Thursday, you can bet on it.

Contrary to many of you guys here who had bad experiences at Centaurus..I on the other hand have good experiences. Went to Rio around the third week of March and did visit Centaurus 4 out of 5 days that I was there.

Here again I would like to let you guys know that if you tell the lady at the front desk you did not come in a taxi then usually she would not charge you a tourist tax of R$20. Then if you would tip the lady about R$5 for overlooking the tourist tax then the next time she will let you in without having to prepaid the whold amount upfront.

That was what I did..I tipped her R$10 for letting 4 of us in without charging the tourist tax. A few other guys also tipped her a few real on their way out. The next day I brought three other guys with me and there was a long line of people waiting to get in...the front lady just waved us through gave us the keys and told to pay when we leave. A little tipping goes along way in this case. One time I decided not to do a session and the front lady didn't even charge me the whole price, just the cover and the drink charge only. So guys..you might to try this the next time you go to Centaurus.

Also, I must say that, as for myself, the selection at Centaurus was much better than L'uomo, 4X4, Termas 65, MC and Solarium.

You are incredible. Correctly identifying the offender with so little information. What a connoissier. It was indeed Danielly. Quite the pity since she was so cute, but she had absolutely no sense of rhythm and her pussy was so small that she kept adopting positions which inhibited penetration. The odor, while marginally unpleasent, was not overpowering during my session. Still, by far my worst terma session of the trip.
As i said, if Centaurus existed in my backyard ,I would be a regular (I did make three visits in four days as it was).However, the club suffers from some attitude and management problems. Only in Rio would I ever have room to complain about such a club.It is just a good idea for us to be forewarned of situations so that we may avoid problems and disappointments in a place in which the expectations are so high. I just hope that some of those girls find their way over to Monte Carlo and L'Uomo before my next trip. If that doesn't work I can always use these phone #s the girls gave me. That was my stratagy this time...once I had found a girl I liked at Centaurus I would get her # and the next session would be at my apartment. This proved to be a neat solution to the Centaurus problem.
BTW...the sharpeyed amoung you will have noticed that I mistakenly posted some pics that were not from Centaurus. My apologies.

While Centaurus does have some real good looking garotas. I would not repeat at Centaurus as it is over priced and if you have any issues with the girl you are out of luck with the managment.

My two cents:

I found Centaurus to be a total rip-off, despite the talent. The fact that you have to play accountant while you're attempting to satisfy your primal needs is obnoxious. Luomo, on the other hand, was a joy - businesswise, and talent-wise.

Your money to be spent in Centaurus, is definitely much better served in other establishments. Anywhere from 100 Reais less in charges, and getting an extra 20 minutes to "play"!

Stick to the others, maybe visit Cent once a year to compare?

Nice report, Artist. I limit my Centaurus visit to just one on my trips. I especially don't like the lack of showers in the suites and the plastic mattress. Many of the girls move onto other termas eventually because others have more patrons and one can make more money. This last girl looks sweeeet.

That said, I will reiterate that the talent there was the best I've ever seen anywhere, especially on a Thursday was it Dino? But go early - some of the star performers did 4 sessions in 4 hours. I saw the girl that Rich did (first of the day) go up the stairs with her FIFTH customer as I was leaving. Incredible. And you know her ass had to be killing her too...

I routinely tipped the front counter staff and received nothing but the best service there. Thanks to Dino, I avoided any and all of the pitfalls of the club.

I shall endeavor to return there next Tuesday at, oh say 4 p.m. sharp?

Great pics and report. When I was in Centaurus in Jan the locker lady busted me trying to sneak my small digital camera in the pocket of my robe. This was the only terma that did not allow me to bring in my camera. In fact at 4x4 the locker lady didn't even care so I wasn't even discreet about it. How did you get the camera into Centaurus?

I always bring a "kit" in a small bag of some sort with me to the termas. A large "fanny pack" works fine.( I bought the one I used this trip on the street for 7R.)In this bag I keep my lubes, my vibrators (small pocket rockets are usually a big hit with the girls), my condoms, and my camera. Since everything is self contained and the camera never comes out except in the room there is never any trouble. I just sling the bag over my shoulder like a shaving kit and no one mentions it. What seems to set off their radar is someone acting like they are sneaking...just be bold and act as if it is your right (which it is).
