2003/04 Nomar - Rio/Buenos Aires Report
Summary: Just back from a quick trip to Rio (4 nights) and BA (2 nights). Stayed at Country Residence in Ipanema and Artsuites in Recoleta. Exchange rate was less favorable than 6 months ago, but still a great deal. Both cities appeared safe with basic precautions. Even with limited Portuguese, I found Rio easy to navigate. Termas were still an amazing revelation as this was my first trip to Rio (and despite much reading in advance I was blown away). The BA boliche scene was quite healthy and I enjoyed the variety of nighttime options. My overall recommendation is to spend more time in both places, but above all else, go south. It isn't just your dollar that goes far.
