Day Eight
Tuesday April 15th, 2003
Get Sick Day
Yesterday had really taken a toll on me and I ended up sleeping really late. I woke up feeling like crap, but I finally waddled out of bed around 4pm and headed over the Download Center. I spent about four hours there on the internet instant messaging with some former co-workers. I hadn’t intended to stay that long, but the time just ended up flying by. I still felt like crap, but chatting with some buddies got my mind off of it.
About 8 or 9 pm I headed back to the hotel to shower up and go out for the evening. But after I finished my shower I was completely drained of energy and had just no desire to go out. I laid on the bed for a while trying to work up enough energy to get up and go out, but knowing full well the smoky, crowded environments of the clubs weren’t going to help my current situation much. I finally decided to call the GF instead and told her I was not feeling very well.
She asked if I wanted to come over to her apartment. I kind of did, but I didn’t want to have to get up and leave. I would have preferred she come over to Design Suites, but I figured I could work up enough energy to take a 2 minute taxi ride over to her place. So I said ok and headed over.
She ordered some snacks for us, but I just wanted some orange juice to fight off the sickness so I had her order three glasses of OJ. She got something for herself and we just kicked it at her place watching music videos and television. She had DirecTV, so there were a variety of channels to choose from. Whenever she left the room I always put it on BBC on CNN so I could catch a glimpse into how the war in Iraq was going.
We didn’t have sex tonight. I didn’t have the energy and really wasn’t in the mood. So after watching television for a while, we went to sleep. Overall, it was a complete waste of a day which bummed me out even more than being sick.

You know, I wonder if it wouldn't be a bad idea to just get a script for antibiotics (eg doxicyclene) and take them the whole time before you monger in a foreign country. I know it would contribute to antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria, but...
