Trip Report,
San Jose Costa Rica
August 3 - 19, 2001

Sorry that this trip report is such a long time coming. I categorized many of my chica encounters by the associated establishment, and will end with some concluding thoughts. It was a long trip, and after the first week I sort of stopped documenting a lot of facts. That had a lot to do with what I report in the Blue Marlin section, passage #2.

I wrote much of this in the middle of the trip, so please understand this as you see verb tenses vary in my writing.

Arte y Sauna

1. Went to Arte y Sauna upon my arrival and subsequent check-in and unpacking. I figured for 12,000 colones I would get a good massage and at least a decent warm-up for later escapades. Indeed this is what I got, as I chose Prescilla, a 23 year-old Tica. I arrived there at 12:15pm, and there were only four chicas to choose from. Prescilla is decent-looking and had a nice body with the clothes on, but what I liked about her was that, before I was buzzed in, I saw her joking around with another girl and giving the appearance of a good mood (to me, there's nothing worse than an indifferent chica). What I got was pretty much what I'd bargained for. Prescilla was fun to talk to, gave an AWESOME massage and was enthusiastic about sex. When the clothes came off the body went from decent to average, but all in all this was superb for the equivalent of $36.00.
2. Got a massage with sex from a girl names Andrea (same professional name as one of my girls from IDEM), for the standard 12,000 colones. Was a decent time, although she hadn't shaved her legs! Andrea failed in comparison to Prescilla, but was still decent for 12,000 colones.

Park Hotel

1. Met up with various board members on Friday evening for the famous show at the Park Hotel. Had a great time hanging with fellow mongers, as we all hung out, drank and got pumped up for what was to come. Maddog and Fruitjuice, thanks for getting us a round.I owe ya one! The show itself was as decadent as any report will indicate, and I received my orientation by being brought up to the bar to participate. Zigmonger, Easy and myself each won "prizes" for our participation. Afterwards they raffled off free bj's. It was some experience for 6,000 colones.
2. Stopped by the Park Hotel after a tremendous meal at Machu Picchu on Wednesday evening. It was very slow there at about 8:30pm when I arrived, so I just sat down and had a drink. A very unusual thing happened in that two different chicas ended up coming over and giving me attention at the same time. By that I mean real aggressive physical attention, right there at the bar in spite of each. My experience at the Park thus far had been that, even if there are many girls and only one or two guys, the girls will not do more than say things to you as you walk by. I ended up getting a room with Daisy, a 21 year old Nicaraguan. Daisy told me that she only works one or two nights per week, for some extra money in addition to her day job. Daisy gave an outstanding BBBJ, with lots of deep-throat action included. The sex was decent as well, as she was pretty tight considering her profession. A good experience for 10,000 colones.

Molino Rojo (VIPS 2)

1. I had very mixed feelings about this place my first time there. It is a Tico brothel where, for 1200 colones you gain entrance and receive two coupons for a drink. Inside is a variety of girls, many of them very attractive. I talked to several and, in spite of the price, did not clique the way I like to while hunting. I opted to leave for the Blue Marlin, but will definitely go back.
2. I met a really cool guy from Orlando that I hung out with some on my trip. One afternoon we went on a walking tour of the city to show him all the spots I knew of, and he apparently went later that night to Molino Rojo. The next day I met up with him, and the two of us went back there. His chica had a friend who I thought was attractive, but I also thought she was kind of boring and I didn't feel like wasting a nut on a dead fish, even if it was only 5600 colones. There was nothing else that really caught my eye there that evening, so again I left without a conquest.

Blue Marlin Bar

1. I arrived at the Blue Marlin Bar which, as usual, was packed with some decent, some attractive and a few stunning ladies. After politely declining the offers of a few, next to me at the bar sat Marcela, a 24 year-old Colombiana. She was average looking, but has a small eyebrow ring that really turned me on. We hit it off very well, and in a half-hour were ready to return to my apartment. She quoted me the price of $100.00, to which I countered 20,000 colones. She asked for 25,000 but I stuck with 20,000. She smiled, gladly accepted and off we went. Marcela was very affectionate, with deep, long mouth-to mouth kisses and so on. It was an absolutely great time.
2. Ok, so this is going to sound strange, but it's what happened so I'll report it. I met a girl that I really had fun hanging out with, and ended up spending a good portion of the rest of my trip with her. We sort of became friends, and I didn't end up paying her or having sex with her. The fact that there were no such exchanges brought the believability factor of the things she told me to a higher level, although I also realize that you can never believe anyone in this world 100%. She is from Colombia, where like most of the others she has a child that is being attended to by her mom. I learned a lot of stuff from her.things that most of you are probably not interested in. I know that I am a pig and I didn't leave with any illusions of what might be between she and I, but it was a different kind of experience that I'd ever had with a working girl. She is someone who I hope I can be friends with as I progress into my later 20's and beyond.

Krysis

1. Although this place is a bit more expensive than other massage places in San Jose (18,000 colones), I'd had a great time there once before and went to check it out. Upon my arrival I found only two ladies there, but one was absolutely gorgeous. Her name is Cindy, and she is from Nicaragua but her parents are from Honduras. This girl looked even better with her clothes off, and although I didn't ask, I think her breasts must've been enhanced. She must've weighed no more than 100lbs but had probably 36C breasts. I am not a breast man in particular but these were admirable. Anyway, Cindy gave a flirtatious but unskilled massage, which was only a precursor to some very good sex.
2. I had such a good time at Krysis one Friday evening before the Park hotel show that I actually forget this girl's name! She was a coffee-colored Tica with extensions in her hair and a body that was indescribable. Based on looks alone she was probably on of the top three women I've ever been with, working or otherwise. What really made the difference, however, was the attitude. She invited me in the shower, flirtatiously washed me and rinsed me, and then led me to the King-sized bed where she used explicit verbiage to ask me if she could go down on me, asked me to do the same, etc. She just had a really great attitude that made me think she really liked what she was doing. After we were done, she asked me if I wanted to go out dancing with her on Sunday night (unfortunately I was leaving on Sunday, so I could not). A really, really great time.I think I blocked her name from my head so that I wouldn't remain enamoured with her. She was by far the best overall experience I'd ever had.

IDEM

1. Went to Idem on Saturday evening along with Fruitjuice. A short walk from the Blue Marlin had us inside sipping very expensive drinks and gawking at some very stunning looking women. 13,000 colones was the price, as quoted to me by the manager Roberto. I dropped DonGordo's name to Roberto, at which he smiled and immediately gave me his business card. Fruitjuice and I noticed the same girl at the same time, and we promptly invited her over. I stepped away to get a drink for her, and when I got back her very cute friend Vanessa had joined us. The four of us chatted for a while, and eventually decided to go upstairs and sample the offerings. I took Vanessa while Fruitjuice took the stunner. I suppose Fruitjuice will report on the stunner, but he seemed to have had as good a time as did I. Vanessa was very playful, very affectionate and was a true GFE. This by far was the best experience in terms of cost/benefit and as I write this only two days into my trip, I certainly plan to go back many times.
2. Went to IDEM again on Monday evening. At the time I entered (about 9:30pm) there were about 10 chicas sitting along the wall and two guys at the bar, facing away from the girls. I walked past the girls on my way to say hi to Roberto and get myself a drink when I noticed one girl with a really great smile. After getting my drink I invited her over for some small talk. Alexandra was nice and, to be honest was a bit overweight, but her face, her smile and her presentation far more than compensated for that. We returned to a room for decent sex, during which she really got into the oral sex. Overall I'd say that she was not quite as good as Vanessa, but was still lots of fun and for in the neighborhood of $50.00 (her drink included) was well worth it.
3. Met these two guys from California at the Park Hotel on a Tuesday night. They were first timers and were on their way to Olympus (rip-off strip club) which I recommended against. Told them about Molino Rojo, which they were apprehensive about. I told them I'd go with them as the Park was pretty slow and I was on the prowl myself. Molino Rojo was iffy that night, so we headed over to IDEM instead. As usual, IDEM was stocked with very good talent, by which one of the two guys from California was a bit overwhelmed. The girls at IDEM look just as good as the ones at the Blue Marlin, have just as good if not better attitudes and will not require negotiation from a $100.00 asking price. We flirted with a few of the girls for a few minutes, and I chose Andrea, a 33 year old Tica who was gorgeous for any age. The fact that she is 33 and looked that good intrigued me, so I took her back to a room. Andrea gave me very enthusiastic BBBJ and even more enthusiastic sex. This place certainly does not disappoint!
4. Went to IDEM with Fruitjuice late on a Thursday afternoon and ended up going back to a room with Fabiola. Fruitjuice felt bad for taking the girl we were both interested in the time before, so he actually paid the bill for me (a great guy, he certainly was!). Fabiola was a lot of fun and gave the best massage that I'd had at club Idem.

Lucy's/Eros

1. Went to Lucy's on a Sunday afternoon as it was one of the only places open on that date/time. For 12,000c. I took Michelle back to a room with a modest bed and bathroom. Michelle is a 24 year old Tica with a decent body and face. She gave me a very skilled massage, followed by an enthusiastic BBBJ. Michelle was very affectionate, as she did subtle things like putting a piece of candy in her mouth and then sharing it with me. Things like that, and even things as subtle as her offer to put the condom on me as opposed to just handing it to me are what make the difference between an decent and a great time. I highly recommend this place and this girl in particular.
2. I went back to Lucy's another time and was quoted $55.00, even though I walked there on my own. I'd heard that if you go via taxi you will have to pay the driver's commission as well, but I went on foot and felt as though I was probably being gouged, so I left.

Overall Thoughts:

1. From the Chica's Perspective: I've seen a lot of guys complain about certain things that I think are legitimate, and some that I more easily understand where the chica is coming from. The $100.00 asking price, for example, is something that I would not pay (unless I could get one of those bartenders at the Blue Marlin.I'd pay $100.00 for that) and I think it's good that we communicate to each other about why we shouldn't pay that price. Still, I cannot blame the chicas for asking for it when there's a good chance they'll get it. All good business people charge the highest rate possible to generate the highest amount of revenue at the lowest possible cost/output. A chica who only gets four clients a week for $400.00 has achieved the same revenue with drastically lower output than a chica who charges $50.00 and has eight sessions a week. When you're wondering why the chica would rather sit on her ass all night than accept less, that's a part of why.

I would also encourage those guys reading this board to change the overall perspective on paying the chica up front. Put yourself in her shoes for a minute. To her, you are a complete stranger who is probably physically stronger that she. She has no way to ensure that she'll get paid by you and no way to prevent you from doing physical harm to her before, during or after whatever was agreed upon. Also, if you complain to the establishment (e.g., the Blue Marlin staff) about her, there is more likely some action to be taken then if she complains about you. Add to that the fact that she has no pimp and probably no family support, and you can see that she is completely on her own. Her job is scary, and it's no wonder that chicas become cold and jaded after some time. You can alleviate a part of her fear by paying up front.I actually find that if I give her the money before she even asks for it, it seems a little less business-like and often improves her attitude even more. Before she even goes to take a shower, be like "here, this is for you" as you put it next to her purse.

2. Do you really want a "GFE?" Let's really think about what it's like to have a girlfriend. Having a girlfriend is all about "I want to go shopping" and "I have a headache" and "Why are you looking at her?" Yes, you may get more affectionate sex from a girlfriend at times, but there is a direct relationship between the good parts and the bad parts. My experience has always been that, the more of a GFE I get from the chica, the more of a pain-in-the-ass she is the next night when I've got my eye on someone else. If you're going down there to try as much as you can as many times as you can, a GFE might now be what you really even want. I know that, for me, a girl who is really sweet and acts "lovingly" is harder for me to get out of my head and makes me feel worse about myself when I'm hitting on someone else the next night. Maybe you really do want a GFE, but think about that too!

3. The "Ugly Americans" are Getting Uglier: I was at the Blue Marlin at around noon on a Wednesday afternoon when, in the span of about 20 minutes, this complete idiot went outside to buy some cigars from one of the peddlers who hangs around the outside of the Blue Marlin. He comes back in, is boasting about it (all in English, of course) to these two chicas who have absolutely no idea what he is saying. So this guy is acting like he just went out and killed a grizzly bear with his bare hands when in reality he just got suckered by a street tout with some fake Cuban cigars. At that moment these two guys that he knows join him. The first guy grabs the two chicas, one with each hand, by their HEADS.let me repeat that he grabbed them by their HEADS., and says to his friends "Look what happens when you leave me alone in a f*k*g whore house!!!" He and his two friends are laughing their asses off, smelling fake Cuban cigars and shooting bullets into the reputations of all of us who are just trying to have a good time and not make any waves. His belittlement of the two girls, combined with the fact that he looked like a complete dumb-ass with his fake cigars, is the kind of stuff that makes other people stereotype and dislike Americans. I was very embarrassed and very sorry to be linked with that kind of thing, which is what the chicas do. It's human nature to take a bad experience and utilize it to form a stereotype, and I blame the guys who act like morons more that I blame the chicas who develop the bad attitudes about Americans. When I see guys behaving like that, I understand better why a chica wouldn't take less than $100.00 from me, and why she really wouldn't want to kiss me or look at me or give me anything but indifference.

4. Money: I had great success using my ATM card, and got a really great exchange rate from my bank in the process. If you're planning on going this route, you may want to contact your bank beforehand to let them know that there may be some unusual charges showing up. You'd not want them to put a stop on your account while you were down there. When I came back to Miami I had messages from the security office at my bank, inquiring about unusual charges. Also, by paying in colones you will appear more savvy and are more likely to succeed in your negotiations, especially with the chicas.

5. Safety: This is a hot topic for board members, and my opinions are clearly stated throughout this forum. My most recent trip did nothing to alter my stance of "proceed with caution but not apprehension."

Well, that's about it. Who knows when I'll return, but I hope it will be soon. Hey, if airfares go down because of travel concerns, I might get there sooner than I originally thought!
