5/25/03 - Makati

Arrived in Manila via Asiana Airlines. Good service and cute stewardesses. Layover in Inchon for few hours. Inchon Terminal was quite modern. Landing in Manila was a bit shaky due to a bad weather. Baggage claim experience was unnerving. I was starting to wonder if my baggage will ever show up. Baggage claim took an hour.

Changed 100 USD at the airport currency exchange near the ATMs (52.35). Later I noticed that the exchange booth on the other end had a slightly better rate (52.45). Asked what is the maximum pesos I can withdraw and was informed P2000 from the currency exchange but I was able to withdraw P5000. Bought a business class ticket to Cebu from Cebu Pacific, P3149. Cancelled my ticket after over an hour wait for the shuttle and took a taxi to City Garden Hotel in Makati. I’ve applied for City Perks Privileges & Rewards via City Garden Hotel’s website for P500 membership fee for two years. Paid when I checked in and was issued a Rewards booklet and I used it to get a nice room for P1900 nett. I recommend this route and if you consider checking in the City Garden Hotel Suites or Lotus Garden Hotel.

By this time I was feeling a major jetlag but was determined to check out the P. Burgoz bars. Only few bars were opened around 4PM and the talents were not what I expected. I ended up in Mogambo around 5 PM and the atmosphere was very friendly. One of the girl offered to play connect 4. She advised me if I lose I should buy her a drink. I asked her what she’ll do for me if she loses and she said she’ll show me her boobs. She’s not a looker but had a nice body was very sweet. We played the game and she lost. Later I found out she’s only been in the bar for couple of months, figures. Very nice boobs indeed. She wanted to play another game but this time she had a helper and I ended up losing the game and bought her a drink. She was a good company and so darn sweet, I decided to barfine her. I bought her 2 drinks and paid 1300, 1000 (barfine) + 300 (drink), minimum is 3 lady’s drinks. I later found out the girls get P60-90 per drink and barfine is split between the bar and the mamasan. Had a couple of nice GF experiences and I sent her away in the morning with P1100 (looks – 6, body – 8, attitude – 9). To my surprise she didn’t complain or ask for any more money but instead offered me her phone number but I didn’t call. I’m a butterfly, diva?


5/26/03 - Manila

Another rainy day. Good thing I brought an umbrella. Took a metered taxi to Glorietta/Landmark shopping malls from City Garden, P40. Saw number of ATMs. I was informed by locals that P5000 is the maximum withdrawal per transaction but I was able to withdraw 10,000. Exchange rate via ATM was 52.17 and exchange rate for cash was 52.40. Checked out Oxford Suites on the same street as City Garden and they had a promotional rate of P1900++ for a deluxe room.

Having been disappointed by quality of girls in P. Burgoz yesterday, perhaps I was too early (4-6 PM), I decided to try EDSA for the first time. Cab fair was under P80 from the hotel. Arrived at EDSA around 7 PM. Walked into Casino and walked right back out. I was immediately greeted by a door girl from the Cotton Club. Walked in and ordered a mango juice. I was approached by couple of go-go girls. Heavy pressure for lady’s drinks by a waitress but didn’t buy any. Mamasan was willing to give discounted barfine due to lack of business, P750 instead of P1000. Chit chatted for 30-40 minutes or so with the girls and moved to My Fair. Selection was not so impressive. Finished by mango juice and walked into the Firehouse.

Several good looking girls here. One of the cute little go-go girl caught my eye. She seemed very disinterested and vain. From the dance floor she kept grooming her hair and didn’t smile nor danced much. She looked 8 on the dance floor. For some reason, I was determined to make her smile. I bought her a drink and she drank very slowly. Some flirtations took place and we had a lot of laughs. Heavy pressure by a waitress to buy food since my girl didn’t drink much. Bought a chicken lollipop for P275 and waitress decided to throw in some fries without my consent for additional P110 and requested that I pay the food bill separately. I told the waitress, I don’t mind paying for the bill but I don’t appreciate her changing the order without my approval and I won’t order any more food from her in the future. No tip was given to a waitress and my girl seemed to see me with more respect. No more pressure from the waitress rest of the evening.

Convinced my girl to stay with me long time which she resisted at first. She wanted to leave by 4AM and I negotiated to 9AM. No price negotiation was set before leaving the bar. In my experience, girls will ask for more than what you’re normally willing to pay her or they will say, “it’s up to you?” As we were leaving the bar, I noticed several lookers outside the other bars. They may be the late-shift and were better looking. Business was slow everywhere.

Had couple of nice sessions in the room. She got really into it, a little malibog (looks – 8 from the bar but 6 from the photo, body – 8, attitude – 6). She wanted to leave around 6AM and I didn’t want to keep her if she wanted to go. Gave her P1600. She told me others have paid her P2500 for short time. I reminded her that she didn’t fulfill her promise but I was willing to give her additional P200 since she lived far away. She accepted, kissed me, and left.

5/27/03 - Makati

It’s raining again. I decided to check out the Harrison’s Plaza and took a metered cab. Driver wanted to take a shorter route and got stuck in flooded traffic for two f**king hours and cost me P120. If the driver wants to take a short cut during the rainy day, I do not recommend it. My hotel driver took me to the airport the next day during a heavy rain and got to the airport in about 30 minutes not taking the short cut.

I wasn’t impressed with Harrison’s Plaza and couldn’t withdraw any money from the ATMs. Either they were out of order or didn’t accept my VISA debit card. I look a cab to Landmark and was unable to withdraw money from their ATMs or the limit was only P4000. I walked over the Glorietta Plaza and withdrew P15000 from one of their ATMs. Did some shopping and returned to City Garden.

I wanted to check out Chaos but was not willing to deal with the flooded traffic so I hit the P. Burgoz after 7 PM. Okay, talents were better now. Many 7s and occasional 8s, but still I wasn’t too impressed. After visiting the bars on Burgoz, I found Cuddles and Rascals to my liking. I ended up in Cuddles and partied. Mamasan gave me a free drink every time I bought a round of drinks for couple girls and the mamasan. Had an absolute blast. I had about 8 shots of taquila plus couple of mango juice and several (4-5?) rounds of lady’s drinks. My bill was less than P5000 and was pleasantly surprised. Mamasan took really good care of me including my bill. I put it on my credit card and gave a P500 tip. Since I was too wasted, I decided to go home alone.

Side Note: 10 drinks barfine is for one girl only. You can’t combine different lady’s drinks. If you find yourself surrounded by girls and don’t want to buy all of them drinks, you can ask the others to leave or tell them you’ll give them a tip later. P50-100 should suffice. You can save quite of bit this way.

$100 on drinks? I've never even come close to that in a night... you BIG SPENDER!

A girl who works a semi-skilled job in a factory for 10 hours will get about P300, so you are quite generous in giving her P1600 + P200. I think those Manila girls are spoiled...

No wonder she gave you her phone number, you're the walking cashier to her and her family members.

I hope you are headed to AC 'coz there's no hassle with prices there like in Manila. The girls there almost always stay with you until noon the next day at minimum if not longer.

That flooding problem when it rains has been going on for years!

That big push for ladies' drinks was one of the biggest turn-offs for me during my recent trip. I never even considered negotiating the barfine -- thanks for the tip. And thanks for the tip on the City Garden Perks and privileges program. I could have used that info a month ago! Are you still planning on heading to Cebu City? Makati and Manila was a bit more expensive than AC but it was a good experience.

I'm gonna try to post Cebu report in Part 2, hopefully by this weekend.
