General Info:
As usual, I flew to Montreal from Boston, its a short 1.5 hr flight, you can probably drive there in 5 hrs or so from Beantown but I hate long drives. A little tip for clearing the customs at Dorval airport: when the customs officer asks about the purpose of your visit to Montreal, just say you're on a vacation. If your reply is "I'm on a business trip", you're likely to have to spend the next few minute providing them with information on what kind of business you're in as well as having to produce your business card, have actually seen this happen on several occassions.

Taxis from the airport to downtown are a fixed CAD 28. There're also limos if you want to travel in style. Think there's an airport shuttle for half the price of a taxi but never tried it before.

For maps, I would recommend getting the Montreal FastTrack by MapArt, its orange in colour and costs about CAD 7/=. Very informative and it folds up nicely, much better than carrying one of those oversized maps made of filmsy paper which flies everywhere each time the wind blows.
For currency-exchange, the ATMs offer the best rates but watch out for those ATMs which don't belong to the major banks, those usually come with high transaction fees. However, if you're going to exchange a large amount of money or simply for convenience sake, go to Calforex (there are quite a few along Ste-Catherine), the best currency exchange house IMHO since they charge only about a flat CAD 3/=.

There's an internet cafe in Chapters, a bookstore along Ste-Catherine if you're not bringing your laptop.

For the Montreal escort scene, the best quality and variety is in the outcall escorts. When calling the lower-priced French agencies, you just have to give your first name and room number as far as personal details go, most have Caller ID so its best to call from your hotel room rather than from your cell phone when walking back from the strip clubs, LOL. For the first time hobbyists who tend to be on the shy side: don't worry, its easier than ordering a pizza from Domino's. Delta Montreal is a business class hotel located in downtown Montreal along Av. du President-Kennedy. Its a good choice for those who don't want to splurge on the top Montreal hotels like the Loews Vogue but are not big on staying at motels either. Like most Montreal hotels, the Delta Montreal is escort-friendly. You can usually get a good deal on Priceline, I got my room for USD 35 per night before taxes and fees. BTW, most of Montreal's high-end escorts (>CAD450/2hrs) will not meet clients in motels for safety reasons.

The closest supermarket is about 5-8 minutes by foot depending on how fast you walk but there's a pharmacy/convenience shop close by, think it belongs to a chain called PharmaPrix. For all your alcohol needs, the nearest SAQ outlet is even closer, two minutes by foot (the SAQ outlets which are found all over Montreal carry the widest variety of wines, liquors, etc but you can still get beers and wines at the supermarkets and several convenience stores but the selection is very limited). The hotel is also only several minutes away from Chinatown with lots of great and affordable food and Rue Ste-Catherine where the main activity is with large shopping malls, restaurants and strip clubs.
There's an ATM in the lobby and a well equiped fitness centre for the the fitness buffs, the front desk can be easily bypassed through the mezzanine floor entrance which leads out to Rue Sherbrooke.

I got upgraded to one of the nicer, renovated rooms, somewhat ordinary IMO which only makes me wonder what the regular rooms look like. The hotel rooms are irregularly shaped with some having balconies. There wasn't a room safe but there was an empty fridge which came in handy for storing drinks and food. For those looking to save even more money, sign up for the Delta Privilege Program (registration is free) and get free local calls; given that outcall is really the best way to go in the Montreal escort scene, hotel phone charges can add up pretty quickly.
On the negative side, room service was slow at times and the food, somewhat average. Also, when I was there during winter this year, two of the elevators weren't working which can be quite a problem if you're staying on one of the higher floors and the automatic doors stopped working whenever the weather got really cold.
Overall: A largely positive experience, if you can get a good price for this hotel on Priceline, you should definitely go for it.


Agency Review:
Asservissante (www.asservissante.com)
140 for first hr and 120/hr thereafter, read somewhere that you can do 30 mins blocks after the first hour but can't confirm it since I usually do a minimum of two hrs.

The website says 4pm to 4am but you can usually call slightly earlier if you want to be the first in line but of course, the selection might improve when you call later. If you call late on the weekends like after 9pm, there probably won't be anyone available unless there's a cancellation. They're closed on Mondays but on rare occassions, the agency simply closes when none of the girls want to work since Martin , the agency owner doesn't enforce a schedule on his girls. IMO, that makes for a better working environment resulting in better service for the client but it can be problematic when one calls and finds only one or two girls working.

Martin is a nice guy and extremely professional so no worries about bait and switch here, if Martin says the girl is coming at 8, its a sure thing. BTW, this is my backup agency whenever something goes wrong. He's also relatively fluent in English and feel free to ask him about the girls' restrictions.

But don't forget that Martin is essentially a businessman so when he tells you that the girl is the hottest looking in the agency, take that with a pinch of salt.

However, the quality at Asservissante is quite consistent with most of the girls in their early to mid twenties and quite attractive with nice attitudes, I believe that the only unattractive one is Jessica whom I haven't met but from the other reviews, she's kinda stocky, has an average face and her performance is inconsistent (please note that I haven't met her, just repeating what I read elsewhere so don't flame me). While Asservissante definitely has better looking girls, Sabrina probably has the best personality. Those who are into Italian girls will like her a lot. Despite her oft-mentioned weed-induced calm, she's actually pretty street-smart but doesn't come off as cynical or mean. Downtown Montreal, at least the part I stayed in, seems to be pretty safe, although I'm sure some areas are safer than others. I walked around quite a bit after dark and never felt threatened. Of course, this was last November, on a night in the middle of the week.

Question #1 is a good one... are there any low-cost hotels that have all the amenities and are also girl-friendly?

As a regular visitor to Montreal, I know the city very well. It is one of the safest in North America, IMHO. Cabs are all over and it is safe to walk around in. Remember, Canada isn't a third world country or anything, it's much nicer than most of the US, so standard US city rules apply there. Most people speak at least a little English and it is not difficult to get around the city at all with just English.

To me, Montreal equates most to San Francisco as far as attitudes and lifestyles (not the gay part, the work during the day, have fun at night and weekends part). Long meals with plenty of wine and liquor are the norm, the women are hot and the climate is great, May through September. My only complaint about the city and Quebec in general is the no right turn on red regulations, the only provence in Canada like that. It seems trivial until you drive around and realize what a pain it is to sit through redlight after redlight.

Now, two things to remember though: the panhandlers are plentiful and a little pushy, and in the spring and summer, Montreal becomes a haven for all of the slacker kids in Canada.

The panhandlers usually don't speak a lot of English, so just say no and ignore them. As far as the slacker kids, it's pretty funny. They congregate in and around UQAM at St. Denis and St. Catherine and are obnoxious as hell.
You can always spot them because, one, they are all English Canadians from Toronto and points west of there, two, they are all wearing Sid Vicious-issued clothing (Doc Martins, lots of leather and black denim, lots of tattoes and spiky hair, etc.) and three, they are all stoned. They tend to panhandle as well, although I've never been tempted to give a quarter to a white 20-year old panhandler sitting on a street corner smoking a joint.

As far as hotels, they have all of the standard American chains. The exchange rate has gone to shit the past few months with the decline in the dollar. Last summer, a loonie (Canadian dollar) was worth 63 cents, now it's around 71 cents. Still a great discount for Americans, but it's getting a little closer.

Nice report, donbusch. Emanuelle is a terrific escort and my mileage didnt vary at all, nor did that of a few other friends. If you're nice to her, everything will be great.

Montreal is very underrated in terms of a monger destination. Asservisssante is reliable but some of the girls are a little downscale. Both the Delta Montreal and Holiday Inn Centreville are 3* hotels on Priceline and Hotwire while the Wyndham Montreal is a 3* on Priceline but a 3.5* on Hotwire. Anyhow, almost all downtown Montreal hotels are escort-friendly although I have heard that the Loews Vogue now has elevators that require the keycards so if you're staying there, you'll have to come down to the lobby to get your guest, not a pleasant experience if you are trying to be discreet.

I have never felt that safety was a problem in Montreal and would say it compares favorably with even Singapore, the safest city that I've ever been to.

For those interested in the higher priced escorts (>450/2hrs), AllissaMontreal and the Courtesans are highly reputable agencies, there is also a group of independents called the French Kiss Society, its members include several of Montreal's top escorts like Emma, Melanie and Lauren; their details are on the Montreal Spreadsheet.
