Pre-Ramble
The Park Hotel isn't to everybody's taste. The girls aren't the prettiest, and the place is run down. But it's the most outrageous scene in San Jose, and the place I gravitate to when I visit there. Sometimes I even gravitate to the top of the bar at the Park Hotel Show and join in with the naked chicas. That ought to give you an idea of my tastes.
But we all do that in one way or another in San Jose... let go of our inhibitions. All the members of this group give in to the forces of nature, be it the little head, alcohol, or plain old desire. At the risk of sounding like Joseph Campbell, for me the trick is to revel in the process of giving in to these urges, to understand and appreciate. Living doesn't have to be all work; it can be fun... that's what the chicas have taught me, though they never actually put that into words.
I spent ten days in San Jose and Jaco over New Year's, with Ace00 and several Park Hotel girls. But I've reported extensively on the Park Hotel before, so I'll limit this report to new items. Of the new items, there were some discussions I had with the girls regarding chica rates in general (not just the Park Hotel); some stories about girl/girl action during the show with outside girls; and finally, a few miscellaneous highlights.
For more extensive and organized reports, please refer to my old reports, in the archives here, and at redsnake. I've written a lot about the Park Hotel and my two favoritas from there, A. and E., (as is my custom, I refer to the girls by initial only; feel free to email me should you wish to get a name after reading this).
Finally, please excuse the lateness of this posting... but I figured I'd better get it out of the way before my next trip next week.
Miss J.'s Compleat Schedule of Rates of Park Hotel Chicas
What follows is an analysis of the Park Hotel vs. Del Rey rate structure by one of the girls at the Park Hotel, J.
J. is one of the prettier, and more intelligent of the girls at the Park Hotel. She's a little taller than the average girl there, is thin but shapely, lighter skinned than most, and definitely has the most beautiful eyes of any girl there. Of the pretty girls there, I think she's the only one I haven't had. For various reasons, I've come to suspect her enthusiasm, and that's my most important criteria. Also, she's one of the few girls there who won't allow pictures, and that's another of my criteria.
But she's good to talk to. She ended up at Jaco with Dboy, at the same hotel as our party. (we were a party of five: my two favoritas, my excellent traveling buddy Ace, his chica, and myself).
I guess I'm just a good listener; it seems that all the girls warm up to me. Also, DBoy is the type who likes his privacy; so he'd head off to the Internet café for a few hours at a time, and J. would come to our room and hang out with our three girls. They were all relaxed and would gossip, and I'd join in. This summarizes the discussion; J. did most of the talking about the rates, but our three girls added some, and in general, agreed with her.
I think what started the discussion was that J. said that she hoped to make a move from the Park Hotel to the Del Rey (Blue Marlin) sometime in the future. I don't know that that would ever happen. In fact, she told me one time she went there, one of the guys recognized her from the Park Hotel, said hi, and then everybody knew she was from. Her negotiating position was therefore severely compromised, and the other girls at the Del Rey didn't want her there. On the other hand, I know of at least three girls that have made the move to the Del Rey from the Park Hotel, at least one of whom has been fairly sucessful there.
Here's why it’s such a desirable leap for the girls: the absolute top tier of the Park Hotel price structure is the rock bottom of the Del Rey prices. In most ways, what J. told me simply confirms many of the postings that have discussed prices on both redsnake and clubhombre (though our discussion reflected updated prices); but it's kind of interesting to hear it direct from one of the girls.
Obviously, every girl at each place is an independent agent; but in general, prices are much more standardized at the Park Hotel than at the Del Rey.
For a normal "date" (up to one hour) at the Park Hotel, the asking price these days is 10,000c ($30) on a regular night. You can bargain down from these levels, but (excuse me for editorializing) I encourage you not to: think about it now, do you really want to haggle over $3 (1,000c) with a mother of one, two, or more kids who's almost always late with the rent, and who knows what other problems she has? There are plenty of out-of-shape or older chicas there who'll actually expect a little less if you're that cheap. Save the bargaining for the Del Rey chicas asking for $100/hour.
There have been times when my favoritas have seen me talking with some well known members of this forum. Afterwards, one or the other have asked if I like the guy. And then they would tell me that none of the girls like the guy, because he's cheap, i.e., he bargains down from the standard price. That gets reflected in the performance.
The chica price at the Park Hotel, by the way, does not include the cost of the room... but the short time room rate is pretty much equivalent to the guest fee that the Del Rey charges, and thus doesn't belong in the comparison, anyway.
The next level up for the Park Hotel chicas is 12,000c ($36), but only if the place is very, very crowded (Friday nights, sometimes Saturday nights, and even then, only at certain times during those nights, i.e., in the 20 minutes immediately following the show).
The next and absolute top level of the Park Hotel asking prices is the floor for the Del Rey: 15,000c ($45). That is a special price for white haired gringos who look like they have money. Yes, she really said that (in Spanish, that is). It’s a rare day when they get that much.
Hopefully, this up-to-date rate discussion should help some of you who aren't confident in their Spanish (as you know, you're far more likely to find a chica who speaks a little English at the Del Rey) and are reluctant to bargain in another language. If you're at the Park Hotel and see a girl you'd like to take up to a room, just say "ten thousand, OK?" They'll understand that much. Then you take her to the desk and pay for a room for a short time.
Of course, if it's very crowded at the Park Hotel and you see other gringos taking some of the other girls away at that very moment, you could say "twelve thousand OK?" By the way, it's also much better if you say hi, my name is --- what's your's before you say the "ten thousand, OK?"
There’ll always be some who prefer the Del Rey, and that’s fine. I take out from there sometimes, too. It’s just my taste that seems to keep me going back to the Park Hotel for my diamonds in the rough.
Now to a whole 'nother level of the discussion, and perhaps even more interesting: their idea of how much they want from a gringo for an exclusive relationship... not that I think that happens all that often. I'm not sure that this would be a price that all the girls would expect. Frankly, since J. is one of the prettier ones there, this particular part of the discussion might be on the high side.
Per J., if you wanted her not to work anymore (I assume this doesn't matter whether the gringo lives in the U.S. and visits, or lives in SJO), she expects the level of support to be $1000/month, with two months up front. Interesting, isn't it? It gives you a good idea of living expenses in SJO for a chica with a small family.
Bottom line, whether the discussion is short term or long term rates, they may not be as pretty, but far more often, the attitude of the Park Hotel girls is far better than the Del Rey girls. You don't have to negotiate for a BBBJ, because 90% of them do it automatically. They almost all let you take nude pictures. What's more, if you can speak a little Spanish, talk to them, buy them a drink and treat them nice, you'll get a better girlfriend experience than any girlfriend you ever had or will have.
This discussion also provides a good basis for negotiating at the Del Rey: start your bargaining at $45. If the place is at all crowded, expect to pay $60 (the latter is my experience, not J.'s description, and be prepared to pay more). Obviously, there is a broader variety of girls there, but at least you know what the floor is. And if it’s packed, be prepared to pay $80.
One of my pals said I should discuss the rates that I pay to the Park Hotel girls. When I invite the girls to the Presidente (which is always), I pay for two hours, plus an optional tip, and even so, they still spend more time than that with me. In general, excluding overnights with my favoritas, I expect a "date" to take between three and five hours from the time she arrives till the time she leaves. That provides time to talk, drinks or a meal, photos, and lots of time for fun. I'm not the type of guy who only takes three minutes (my attitude is if we're not both drenched with sweat, then I'm doing something wrong... there's a Randy Newman song in there somewhere), and I'm also the type who likes "company" both after and before. On this last trip, for example, X. came by around 2:30 PM. We had a great time, and we had dinner and just hung out. Around 7:00PM, she was still there when A. came by for my evening date; X. hung around for another drink for another hour or so, and all three of us chatted.
For a multi hour date such as that, I pay for two hours based on J.'s scale (i.e., $60). Additionally, I’ll pay a tip of $0, $10, or $20 depending on time spent and attitude (yes, I’ve really paid $0 tip several times). For an overnight, which is what I always schedule with my two favoritas, I pay $100, by the way.
The Park Hotel girls think my payment is appropriate, and they show enthusiasm. Also, they know that I come back frequently, and I often give small gifts. And finally, besides all that, when a gringo treats them with respect and actually has an enjoyable conversation with them... sometimes I think that's what they like the most. What woman doesn’t like attention. They always give me a girlfriend experience because I treat them like a girlfriend.
Girl/Girl Stuff
Besides discussing rates, while out at Jaco we also talked about non-Park-hotel girls jumping up on the bar during the show and joining in with the Park Hotel girls. It's something that we gringos at the bar always go wild about, of course. I've seen it happen a few times.
The girls unanimously said they don't like it. The reason is this: they don't know if the outside girl has showered beforehand, and therefore the taste is sometimes not to their liking.
They also told me a story that took place about a year ago (I wasn't there that particular weekend). Some gringo brought a chica from the Del Rey to see the show. The chica was a little drunk. Or very drunk. She obviously liked girls, and when the show started, he encouraged her, and she got naked, jumped on the bar and began licking the girls.
Then the dildos came out. The girls were going to insert it into the Del Rey girl's vagina, but the gringos shouted for the other hole, and Bill stuck it up her ass. So one of the Park Hotel girls took over, and the show continued with the Del Rey girl getting the dildo up the ass. Came time to take the dildo out... there was a little, shall we say, spillage. The Park Hotel girls were thoroughly grossed out, and they all ran out. Luckily it was more or less the end of the show anyway. And they still talk about it today.
Now Dboy says that he was there, and that he didn’t think the girl was a working girl, and it was only a bit afterwards that she had that accident. As to the former point, I’d go with what the girls said because they all recognize one another (sorry Dboy).
So there you have it: how the girls feel about other girls jumping up on the bar to join them.
Miscellaneous Trip Notes
In no particular order:
At the show on Saturday 12/29, another gringo (not me for a change) jumped on the bar and got (mostly) naked. He was a little out of shape, though. He danced with En., who is very skinny yet shapely, on top of the bar, and everyone cheered him on. Gives new meaning to the dance term "box step." It was a thoroughly enjoyable show. Some shows in the last few months there's been a little too much rowdiness or mean spiritedness (gringos who want to stick bottles up the girls' pussies, or who call for dildos up the ass). This night all the gringos were in a good mood, and the girls got good business after the show.
In the future I intend to avoid Jaco during New Year's Week. They jack the prices up way, way too much. But still, we were two guys and three chicas, and I can't complain because we enjoyed. We ended up at the Hotel Cocal, because every place else was booked, but which I will probably avoid in the future. It think I'll stick to either the Best Western or the Jaco Fiesta (this by the way, is the girls' favorite), or the Punta Leona resort, which is 12km north of Jaco. The rooms at the Cocal were only adequate, and didn't have cable TV (you don't want bored chicas on your hands, trust me). I will say, though, that the Cocal has an excellent restaurant and very good service. I will certainly go there to eat if not stay there again.
The bar and casino at the Presidente are finished, and I’m told they’ve been since linked by a walkway. The bar is in the area where the lobby used to be. It's round, seats about twenty, plus it has some tables on a balcony overlooking the street (excellent girl watching and a good place to eat; Ace, my good buddy, has been raving about the chicken sandwiches), and other tables where reception used to be. Due to its smaller size, the Presidente bar will never be competition for the Del Rey. But there are chicas popping in, usually in two's, who try to catch your eye. Mostly older ones who looked like they may even be semi-pro's. I didn't really investigate further. The casino is two doors down from the Presidente (on the other side of the Kentucky Fried Chicken). It's apparently now connected to the hotel via a walkway on the second floor. You'll take the marble staircase from the first floor to the second, and then across to the casino. The service at the Presidente continues to be good, as always.
Now that the Presidente actually has some parking space (behind the hotel), the car rental places can deliver the car to you with far less hassle than there used to be, and if you're returning to the Presidente, you can park it, and then the rental people can come pick it up there. Having had at least one unpleasant experience with car rentals in San Jose, I can say that this time it was a pleasure. Angie, who used to be the Destinations Costa Rica girl who sat in the Presidente lobby is no longer with them. Her replacement, Fernando, is quite competent.
The Park Hotel had a New Year's Day pig roast for a few thousand colonnes. They actually barbeque'd it on premises, in the back. Please no jokes about the pigs at the Park Hotel. It wasn't half bad, and it was actually quite fun just to go there to hang out for something like that.
There's definitely been a lot of turnover at the Park Hotel. My two favoritas, A. and E. are transitioning out of there. They both see some old clients, but don't go to the Park Hotel much anymore. A. is going to school to learn English and looking for another job. After a year and a half of both professional relationship and friendship, they're both important to me and I will certainly help them in any ways that I can to help them to stand on their own two feet.
If anyone is interested in Madame X., the pregnant chica whom I wrote about a few months back, she had a very healthy, very tall little girl. The father is a gringo from the west coast who had told her he was coming back to visit in November or December; but if he visited San Jose, he didn't go back to the Park Hotel for her. She has no way to contact him. It amazed me how strong she was about facing the task of bringing up this kid without his help. It makes me wonder. I don't know how old the gringo is; but he may be young enough that he may return to San Jose in twenty years and end up taking the daughter to bed. What a world.
Well, excuse the lack of organization, and feel free to follow up if the miscellaneous notes were too short.

NoNonSense:
Excellent thoughts.
I agree with taking time and enjoying the girls. They like you better and you end up having a better time. There is a trade off here, for sure...we may be Rico Americanos to them, but we are getting the attention of much younger and more beautiful women, who are not nearly as spoiled and rotten minded as many of our American women. The trade off makes the matter of mutual benefit to both us men and the women.

I always enjoy your reports because they're about your particular experience of the scene, and aren't too advicey and reviewy. I know a lot of posters need and appreceate those kind of reports more, but here's a vote for the way you put yourself on paper.
