Sorry, I have not finished this report, but promise to add the final chapters here soon. Hope you enjoy...
PT. 1
Just arrived back from a week long trip to Rio and thought I would try to put together a report for those interested.
Might as well start with what for me was the high-point of the trip. Admittedly others (and I perhaps should) might consider this travesty a low-point, but it will always be a dear experience to me.
My good friend Young Tom and I had arranged to take a couple of the girls from terma 65 to the winners parade... This is a showing of the top six or so Carnaval parade winners at the Sambodromo (sp?)
The plan was they would meet us at 7pm so as to be early for the 9pm beginning. Of course, around that time we get the call that they may not make it as one of them could not be reached. Alas, around 8pm the call comes that they're on their way. Sure enough, they come pulling up at 9pm with another garota from terma 65 - and she's the one driving.
No doubt, to most in the US, all drivers in foreign countries drive crazy, but our chauffeur easily transcended the typical stereotype, providing a 'white-knuckled' joy ride that included actual 'from the stop light' races with all willing participants and the most unusal timing in breaking. Ever wanted to control someones break pedal? Yeah we all have stomped our foot into the empty expanse of a bare floor-board in moments of dire emergency, but rarely does one find themselves wanting to do the opposite. It was just that weird...
We made it there and ended up parking on a sidewalk which local touts insured (while charging)was a most hospitable spot. We were not the only ones parking there, but it did seem a dubious (if the not the only)choice at best.
Aaaahhh, the parade was splendiferous!!! Yeah, it was raining and the seating was attrocious, but the vibe and communal spirit was unparalleled in my lifes experience. The girls (two of which had never attended Carnaval)were going nuts, and I did notice more than a couple envious onlookers our way.
I guess we stayed until about 2am before we decided to head on back. That's when the REAL fun began.
Well, our car was completely blocked in front to end. We could have made it out if not for this one bent pole which once served as a barricade between the steet and the sidewalk. I would guess it to be 1/2" Steel pipe which once stood 3' tall but was now tilted to about half that heigth.
The solution was simple (no, not wait for the car behind us to leave)as Xexu (one of the garotas) clearly pointed out to me. Simply bend the offending pipe the rest of the way to the ground via whatever means possible. First Young Tom, and then I tried providing all means of bodily pressure to the offending pole with predictible and unyeilding results. It was clearly a useless cause, but our man-hood was on the line. We did toil in the ever hardening rain....
I tried to convey to Xexu without sounding pusillanimous that we could not possibly bend said pole down... She would have none of such talk and pointed to a boulder she espied some 30 yards down the road. Her plan was of pure latina ingenuity. Simply crush said (what turned out to be at least 300lbs) boulder on to the pole, thus bending it to the ground and setting us free.
I did amble down to the boulder with Xexu and mannaged to tip it on it's broad side. I flat out told her no way this is gonna work and damned if she did'nt get down on her knees and start rolling the evil boulder towards the pole. I was so impressed that I started taking pictures; I was thinking these will be the greatest trip report photos ever - and they would have been.
Fast-forward to the 300lb boulder at the foot of the pole and Young Tom and I preparing to put Xexus' dubious plan into motion. Can you say dismal failure? The pole was undaunted; mockingly so, as the bolder careened off it's surface and nearly onto my foot.
Oh, this tragicomedy played out with various locals and amused on-lookers hoping to help and impress the girls for another hour or so with similar and predictable results until FINAlY, the driver of the car who blocked us in showed up. And of course, that's how we got out.
But it was'nt over.....
The supposed ride back to our hotel turned into a harrowing hour of driving/swerving in circles only to end up where we had begun. Yup, back at the Sambadromo near our favorite pole and boulder. It was at that time that YT and I decided the girls could visit us at the hotel on another day, and we bailed for the cab.
Alas, by the time we got back, I was so tired and distracted that I left my camera in the cab... I had planned on upgrading to a digital camera anyway, but the real loss was the carnaval pictures and those of Xexu rolling that fucking boulder.
After all this, one might ask why would I consider this the high-light of my trip.... It's hard to discern, but I suppose it was the combination of the sharing of a great adventure - and all the highs and lows that come with such things - and the fact that it's now over

Pt. 2
Guess I'll change this to a more conventional, by-the-numbers report from here on.
The new 777's that AA is flying to Rio now are really cool. I especially like that each seat has it's own private montiors ~ replete with a varied selection of movies and continual flight trip updates. These updates include current local times of departure and arrival destinations, air speed, current mapped location of the jet, amount of time left till arrival and other goodies.
Recent security changes did'nt add much additional time to the boarding process, though I did, however get singled out twice for the new pre-boarding inspection. This basically included a thorough examination of your carry-on and shoes.
The first examination turned up some offending 1 1/2 sewing scissors that I must confess I use for those dreaded nose and ear hairs - take my word for it, the ladies don't like that stuff. The second examination turned up my nail-clippers (ok'd by the first inspectors). Both times I was permanently relieved of said items... I did'nt bother to point out that the silverware they supply for meals would have been infinitely more dangerous.
At customs in Rio they are no longer using the red light/green light method for determination of inspection. As best I could tell they were running most everyone's luggage through the x-ray machines and perhaps other random search. I was expecting the same treatment, but after questioning of where I would be staying and the purpose of my visit, I was waved through with a hearty "enjoy Rio". I guess mongers, errr travelers such as us, are'nt considered as much of a terrorist threat. Hell, if anything we're probably looked upon as staunch defenders of everything Brazilian, LOL....
As usual, I did most my socializing at, or with girls from various termas.
I suppose we all look for different things on our various traveling journeys, but (as I've mentioned before) I am not looking for love or anything particularly long-lasting. It is too painful for me to enter into such long-distance relationships. That said, I do wish to enter into a trusting, understanding - and as best I can accomplish - fantasy romance.
This wink-and-a-nod arrangment seems best realized with girls from the termas. Though they are'nt supposed to, most will visit you at your hotel or apt. The fact that you've already estabished a good relationship takes away the anxiety and the unexpected (in regards to theft and attitude) that one has from binging back girls from the beach, cafes or Help - not to mention I find them to be on avg. more beautiful and talented. In addition, the garotas seem to really enjoy getting out of the terma and hanging in a more conventional atmosphere. Like all ladies of Brazil, they too stay as long or attempt to visit as often as they please - regardless of the personal monitory exchage. It's more a mood/connection thing.
As long as I'm bringing up such things, I have found all the terma girls I've hung with would visit for R$150 or less. Amidst reports of much higher prices at Help (justified or not) of late, this seems a very reasonable price to me.
Before I go any further, I would like to touch on hooking up with other travelers on such trips. Though I don't like traveling in packs, I do enjoy the occasion to meet fellow contributors. Perhaps I've been lucky, but I have almost always been impressed with, and glad to hang with the various characters along the way.
This trip was no different....
Actually, it was better than most in said regard. I would like to go ahead and notice them as they helped in making for an awesome trip. Moondog, Parrothead, Nomalhombre and his buddy, and finally YoungTom whom was the perfect partner in crime. Yes, a blatant shout out to YT without whos' internal location finder we might still be wandering the streets of Centro. And man, talk about a 'samba -loving, free-wheeling, babe-magnet' He made my humble quest a much easier one.
I've had a little too much hairspray now; so will have to continue later. I promise all brass - tacks from here on in.

It was great meeting the rest of the guys as well. Thanks for a gret time.

Wilco,
I can't wait to read the rest of your report! Oh, yeah make sure to mention how MoonDog made his pick at Soarium in record breaking time!!!

NoMal, that was a great night at Solrium, eh??? We pretty much had the run of the place, and the garotas were way hot. Would be interested to hear how things went with your lovely mulata - you seemed dubious but determined.
Of course, I was preoccupied with Desiree the space cadet. It was fun pushing her out of el cabini in the nude. Hope you enjoyed that as much as she seemed to. LOL...
Ahhh, it's the little things

wilco,
Sounds like fun, but then again I never had much sense. I have a question already. The individual video screens on the AA 777s. Can you turn the damn things off if you want ?
take care buddy,
Gitano
By Wilco on Tuesday, March 05, 2002 - 06:13 pm: Edit |
Sure can, Gitano..... They are very unobtrusive, actually have a remote controll replete with off switch. LOL.
I would guess them to be 8" monitors which are embedded in the back of the seat in front of you.
In the case of the emergency exit rows (and all you savvy travelers should always be in one), they are attached to a swinging arm that hides away on the side of your seat. Very cool...

Hey Guys,
The only reason it was record breaking time was that she was the ugliest one in there. Lack of sleep and a few beers distorted my better judgement. She was definitely fun, but there were better to choose from as I found out later.
Enjoy the life,
Moondog

I would'nt worry about it, dude... With your track-record we're just try to keep up. To top it off, you hold the keys to the movie star and her under-study, LOL..
By Moondog on Wednesday, March 06, 2002 - 12:54 pm: Edit |
Now that I think about it, I still might have her number. She was from a different city, and just came to Rio to work Carnival. Definitely pretty.

Hell Moondog ugly don't matter. You have your eyes closed most of the time amyway.

Gitano,
At his "advnaced" age it's a wonder he can keep them open!....(Just kiddin MD)
Wilco,
Yes, I enjoyed the "peep show" with your girl. Me an her also had quite the conversation after you left. She was actually kinda fun to talk to. My girl was pretty good, a bit bigger in the butt and hips than I prefer!!!
Moondog,
What's up with the movie-star and under study?
By Moondog on Wednesday, March 06, 2002 - 05:36 pm: Edit |
One of the days, a real pretty girl sat down at Mea Patcha, and she had a friend with her. The girl looked like she could have been a movie star, just very pretty, and seemed nice as well. She and her understudy friend were working Carnival, as she was from another town well away from Rio.
I already had arrangements with another for that night, and then was leaving. She was going back to her town before I got back to Rio again. I forgot the town where she lived.

I'm afraid I won't be impressing any of the more adventurous or
multi-faceted travelers with the remainder of my report. 'Even I'
typically get out at least a couple times per trip and do more of a
tourist oriented kinda thing - not this time...
I had vague plans of visiting Petropolis... Alas, the closest I came to
THAT was meeting a garoata (Desiree) that was FROM Petropolis. Oh well,
at least I made it to the 'Winners Parade'.
Termas - Termas - Termas
If I had to pick a favorite terma from this trip, it would probably be
Aeroporto.
Aeroporto has a slightly different vibe about it, as it mostly caters to
older, well-off Brazilian gentlemen. In fact, I don't recall meeting
another tourist (Except for YT and Parrothead) on the three occasions I
visited there.
I've only experienced hints of this, but there are those who say that
tourists are less likely to to get the 'completa' experience (in termas)
than are the Brazilian men. If this is so, I would say this
double-standard is probably less likely to occur at Aeroporto.
It was here I met that one woman I just can't get off my mind. Yes, we
all love beautiful women, but typically I will seek out the one who is
simply pretty and not necessarily a knock-out. Actually, it's not that
preconceived, but just how things seem to work out when you put a
premium on attitude and compatibility.
At any rate, this Aeroporto woman was so beautiful (at least to these
eyes), that I would not ordinarily have given her much thought.
None-the-less, she quickly melted this cold-cold heart by displaying the
most down-to-earth attitude; and don't even get me started on the other
stuff
I think I'll close the Aeroporto chapter now, except to add that it has
my favorite relaxation area of all the termas.
I made my first ever visits to terma 65 on this trip based on Young
Toms' glowing recommendation. I must say that I was VERY impressed, and
as I already noted, we ended up taking some girls from here to the
Sambadromo (thanks to YT's savvy).
A few things that stand-out, other than some of the awesome ladies would
be: Terma 65 is really big; it even has it's own restaraunt which can
come in handy for you marathon terma goers - not to mention it's a great
way to meet the garotas in a more laid-back atmosphere.
Being that 65 IS so big, why is the relaxation room in the frick'n sauna
area? Sorry, but I don't find much relaxation in hanging with a buncha
swing'n dicks in a hot ass, sweaty, shower-sauna room.
Finally, I did run across Bruna (from visits past) working here. She
does a stage show which is quite good... At one point in the routine,
she sets off some sorta contact fire crackers which damn near singed my
eye brows. Other than that, it was great to see her after all this time
Terma Monte Carlo: I went here on my final night in Rio, and as always,
had a great time. Yeah, I would have to agree with recent posts that
it's experiencing a bit of a down-turn garota wise, but things went well
for me. I had a very fun time hanging with Nomalhombre's buddy (gotta
get this guy a name, LOL) and Sabrina (she of twin infamy) who was every
bit as bratty - and to me - loveable as could be.
In the end, I hooked up with a newbie from Niteroi (yes, she ferries
back and forth daily) whom I found to be charming and warm-hearted.
Terma L'uomo: Oh man, this place really IS on a down-swing. Perhaps no
terma suffers with inconsistency like this otherwise charming
establishment in - of all places - a neighborhood shopping mall.
It was no less than six months ago that I would have picked L'uomo as
the rising star (so good was my time there). I'm sure it will be back,
but it pretty much sucked this time. I found myself wanting to melt into
the bar and become invisible.
In the end (undaunted, yet skittish) I ended up stumbling into an
unexpectedly good time in the relaxation room. I was just gonna bale,
but noticed the only two ladies I found interesting in a heated
discussion with one of the local guys over soccer.
One of the garotas (who spoke excellent english) particularly impressed
me with her, uhhnn, firey temperment; so of course, I just had to check
her out. Have I metioned I enjoy the unusual, uncomfortable and absurd?
Her name was Carla...
In the end, Carla and I had a very spirited grudge match in el cabini...
So-much-so, that I had to unveil the pocket rocket, just to preserve
what little strength I had left. What I could only start, the pocket
rocket finished nicely as she nearly crushed my head between her knees.
Yes, I did end up trading the coveted pocket rocket for her panties (I
have a fettish, already, LOL), hence, the 'panty episode', and my
eventual ass-kicking. More on this later.
Solarium 'Oh' Solarium... Perhaps no terma, or place in this known world
sums up a consistently outstanding time like Solarium.
As always, Solarium was the bomb! Unbelievably great ladies, and the
coolest of atmospheres. We had an unexpected and impromptu get-together
here that was the greatest of fun. Young Tom, MoonDog, CC, Parrothead,
DickLikely, NomalHombre and others, I think. It was purely happenstance,
but cool, none-the-less.
'Twas here at Solarium that I met my companion of the trip - Desiree,
the garota from Petropolis.
Every now and then, one meets someone of the opposite sex that has an
unexplainable desire to just hang out with you. Not sure why (and it's
way too infrequent, in my case), but Desiree was that heaven-sent angel
for me.
I must say that I loved her frequent (though often unexpected visits) to
the hotel, and we setttled into that great and coveted relationship that
transcends the pro scene. She was and IS way-cool, and who knows?
That is, until 'the panty episode'...
Desiree had come by one morning, and we spent the day just doing the
Copacabana scene - and well, you know... Anyway, she left for Solarium
that afternoon asking if I would be stopping by. I, in all honesty, did
confide that this would be a good time for me to just lay low at the
hotel.
Of course, after realizing I was still in Rio, that was the evening I
checked out L'uomo. Fast-forward to dumb-ass monger with panties hanging
in his room.
RING-RING, "Mr WIN, there is a lady here to see you". Cool, it's
Desiree, c'mon up.
She had left her cell phone in my room and just wanted to stop by and
pick it up. She asked what I had done that day, and i related my boring
experience in the hotel room.
"So what are these"? Desiree admonished me as she waved the forgotten
panties in my face. Talk about the classic latina melt-down...
I tried to convey that she too had been with others, but that just made
it worse (I should have known better). I dunno, but it was kinda cool in
it's own weird way, and I bet she laughed all the way home.
The next morning everything was cool, and we spent most the day
together, closer than ever.
I guess this is as good a time as any to bring this report to a close.

Termas- I think that I might have been dozing but I just heard my favorite word in the world - Termas.
Wilco & I had a great time in the termas in Rio on this last trip. I can't write a write report so I always hang on Wilco's coattails and post any additional thoughts after my buddy's reports.
The talent in Aeroporto, Termas 65 and Solarium was outstanding this trip. Anyone in Rio in the near future should hit these 3 termas early and often.
I also made it into Monto Carlo and L'uomos this trip and my thoughts were consistent with previous visits - spend your time in any of the other termas - Aeroporto, Termas 65, 4x4, Centaurus, Solarium, Rio Antigo and you'll have a better selection of girls. In any termas, you will always run into 1 woman that will knock your socks off but in terms of overall quality my preference is to skip MC and L'uomos.
There has been some talk about the different treatment that locals receive as opposed to non-locals. I'm not sure how much of this that I understand or believe. Trust me - if you treat termas women well, they will walk on water to take care of you (it does not matter if you are a local or not). Brazilian women are so appreciative of gentlemanly acts - holding the door, holding the woman's arm as she descends stairs, a hug, a kiss, etc. From this last trip, I guess that I'd say that I'm only in love with 3 termas women - 2 from downtown termas & 1 from a non-downtown termas but I not sure that I see the difference in treatment between locals & non-locals. Of course, I have to admit that I've spent enough time in the last year in various termas that maybe I'm viewed as a crazy local that does not speak any Portuguese ?
It was great meeting and hanging with Wilco on this trip. He is a great guy. We had many an adventure on this trip. Thanks Wilco for taking the time to write up a report; it brought back a lot of good memories.
It also was great to meet MoonDog, Parrothead, NomalHombre and others who I don't know what the heck their handles are. It was good to see Kenn, Doug and a few other Rio transplants as well.
Ps. - I'm glad the panty story finally was revealed - it is a classic.

Hey Wilco,
Let's call him LocoHombre. The nutcase is in CR right now!
YT summed up the terma girls quite well. Treat them nicely (joke with them buy em a drink or 2) and they return the favor 10x over. I managed to get 90% of their phone numbers and real names. I also only managed to see 50% of them outside of the Terma. I guess I was having to much fun with the other 50%!
I would suggest that everyone at least give MC's a try. It is a very FUN place to be and there are quite a few "freaks" in there.

Treating the girls nice works wonders. As YT says, you will be repaid many times over.
Enjoy the life,

Reading all these comments gets my blood going again. The only terma I've been disappointed in was Aeroporto but from others' comments it appears a conciliatory visit is in order.
