After 21 year old veronica left, I got packed and then checked out just leaving my baggage with the staff. I went to find a cambio as I was about out of pesos. All of the cambios are closed as a result of the "bank holiday" so I tried an ATM. It said "no dinero", but I didn't try any others. I caught a cab downtown and went back to see the unofficial exchange on Florida right near the cafe orleans. I exchange $200 us at a rate of 3.00 pesos for federal notes. There are people everywhere saying cambio cambio on Florida. If you pay dollars, most places only give 2.5, although a pharmacy I visited this morning gave 3.0.
I did a little shopping and then went for lunch at Cafe Orleans. The food is decent and the prices are cheap. After lunch, I picked Miriam from the 8 to 12 ladies that came in and out. She is 25 years old with firm b cups. We agreed on 150 pesos for complete and I paid the bill. It was 16 pesos and that included her bottled water, 2 cokes, and my lunch!

We walked around the corner to the Belo Horizontal ... I kid you not! I paid 40 pesos for a suite for a few hours and we went up. The manager hands you a package of condoms and a key. As you enter the room, the lights come on and music starts playing. Miriam adjusted the lighting to her satisfaction and proceeded to give me the absolute best massage of the trip. Deep and hard, just perfect. After I flipped over, she started tonguing my balls for about 5 minutes. Eventually she put a condom on and went for the covered bj.
She got on top and proceeded to ride. She was the tightest yet. We switched to doggie style and I rode her good for quite a while. Then we went for complete which was just the perfect way to cap off the trip. I paid her only 150 pesos for the whole time.
Did a little more shopping on Florida. There are some really good deals and some real garbage ones. When shopping was done, I caught a cab back to Recoleta and went to the El Parrillion again for another pamplona lomo ... pretty good, but I could only eat half.
I came to the internet cafe to finish this report and am now going back to claim my luggage and head to the airport.
Thanks to all who helped make this trip a raging success with your posts and emails. I appreciate all the positive comments on the reports too. I have to give a big hand to sakebomb who really was a tremendous guy to hang around with. I look forward to hearing about his continuing adventures and hope he shares some pictures as he has excellent taste.
I'll be happy to answer any questions that I can based on my experience. As long as the political situation, which bears watching, stays relatively stable, Buenos Aires will be a definite destination for a return trip.
To contrast Rio vs. Buenos Aires, both have great experiences. Rio feels a little seedy and rundown compared to B.A. Base prices are similar now, but much more consistent in Rio, with a whole spectrum of pricing in B.A. Rio has more offerings during the day, especially with the termas, but B.A. has a club scene that is just huge and plenty of bars full of independents. Both cities have so much more talent than a single trip could exhaust.

Good Job...thanks for the updates..I'm going to try to rent a suite in downtown next time in lieu of Etoile hotel. It cost 2,000USD a month even with the current BA economy...the kind that only big rock stars would stay at in US. So I look forward to some good times here, not to mention that you can bring as many chicas as you want at a time w/o a hassle. It is a private hotel called Design suites downtown anyboy hear of it?

yes, I have heard of it. Very, very modern! do you have their web site? Also, they have been running a special on buenosaires.com for a good weekly rate.

here is the web site if you don't have it.

The special they are running on buenosaires.com is U$66 per night on a weekly basis. Your deal might be better per month.

Thanks for all the comments. B.A. was a blast and I would go back in a heartbeat. I hope their financial situation stabilizes, but I fear that it is going to degenerate in the coming weeks. Other than long lines at the cambios and federal banks, lots of beggars (including many children), long lines at all of the embassys for visas, and number of people selling homemade goods at the street fair on sunday, it is hard to tell that a crisis is ongoing. I could see how it could explode pretty quickly through.
Some other guys we met a few times ended up staying in a suite at the phoenix hotel across the street from cafe orleans for 63 pesos a night. They said it was a turn of the century, art deco style, three star hotel. The only downside was cockroaches!
For me 146 pesos including tax and breakfast for an executive suite at Etoile and staying in the Recoleta area made it the perfect location. Let us know if you find similar quality accomodations downtown.

Can you give more details on exchanging dinero?
Sounds like you had to go to specific cambios or banks and avoid certain times.
Also on chica prices, Sakebomb mentioned $200 for tln while short time quote is 150 pesos. That's a big difference imho. Most chicas quote $200 for tln?
By uwphoto on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 - 02:07 pm: Edit |
300 pesos for tln would work for most every chica, plus maybe 10 or 20 pesos for taxi fare. That is what I paid for veronica. 200 would have got her short time, no problem, but she also has a kid and had to make special arrangements.
150 pesos was typical price for short time if you stay with the club or cafe orleans girls. Escort girls are much more expensive and want dollars. 200 pesos for higher end girls. I believe that sakebomb usually got 200 pesos for tln (one special exception where he had good reason to give more to the girl).
As far as changing money goes, there are tons of banks downtown. If you walk a few blocks from recoleta there are some too, but you have to look for banelco signs with the right logos that match your card, star, plus, visa, etc. ATM was the best way to get cash in pesos at the best current exchange rate, but unreliable. However, if the banking rules change suddenly, the atms may not be able to dispense any cash.
Downtown about every 100 feet on florida avenue is someone saying cambio, cambio. These are unofficial and illegal. However, if you are comfortable checking out the notes you receive, you should be able to get at least the going rate of exchange. Watch out for signs taped up to the outside of windows of real cambios that are closed as these may or may not have good rates.
The black market place I used a couple of times is on Florida. Here are directions from Cafe Orleans:
1. Exit the cafe and head to your right. One long block down is Florida avenue which is closed to vehicle traffic.
2. There is a cambio on the opposite site of florida. There is a tout here that may offer to exchange. Ask the rate.
3. The tout led us a half-block down florida to the right and into a shopping area on the left. Pass a half-dozen leather goods and souvenir shops to a small area on your left.
4. There is a small room with a chair and one-way glass walls. There is a small slot. They speak english. Ask for Carlos. He will tell you the exchange rate and ask how much you want to exchange. I did $200US both times. Specify that you want federales notes not provincial. He will hand you the money. Compare it to a bill of your own if you like. If satisfied, give them your us dollars.
Pretty easy and had no problems with the bills provided. One day he did not have anything but 100 pesos notes ... no 50s.
Hope that helps.

300 pesos for tln sounds good enough, I misunderstood and thought it was in american dollars.
Hope one of your trip report will be forthcoming.
Thanks for all the info.

UW, you are confusing poor Athos. He can't decide whether to return to Rio for his next trip or go to Argentina or discover Cartegena or sample Thailand or...

Add me to that list also....BA always seems to have a draw but just not quite enough to seal the deal...
By uwphoto on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 - 07:12 am: Edit |
I like em both. Next time I take a trip to SA, I think I want to hit them both. It is only a 2 hour flight from Rio to BA.
BA has great food and is upscale, but unstable. Rio is slightly run down and has the termas, help, and barbarellas. Costs are in the same ballpark ... maybe a little cheaper at the moment in BA. Girls are much more european looking in BA and body types are different. Gotta love that Rio bunda.
It is like sushi and sashimi ... all fish, depends on the mood im in as to which I favor.
By Athos on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 - 09:17 am: Edit |
I am going to BA to complete South America in Nov unless country more unstable.
I set my over/ under at 24 for my upcoming rio trip.
Yes I am confused, sounds like short time is a great deal in BA while tln may or may not be a great deal. But sounds like chicas are like garotas or even better, less chance for an avg session like at Help in Rio.

Athos,
BA is an excellent choice and Nov. is an excellent time to go. I was there in late Nov. of last year...lots of chicas available, good weather, lots of chicas available, great food, lots of chicas available, ....you get the idea!
