Prologue
This trip report will document my second journey to the Land of the Cariocas. My first trip was a little less than one year ago, leaving me with a craving that could only be satisfied by my return.
Travel
So first I had to find a cheap way to get to Rio from the US. With the airlines in deep financial trouble and seat occupancy down, I thought finding a cheap ticket would be a breeze. Wrong. I really had to work to get the best deal, which I found on priceline. I ended up paying about $550 plus tax to go from the West Coast to Rio. Not bad, and significantly less than the $800 or so I was able to get through the various travel agencies I tried through internet searches and agencies listed on our CH board. In all, I saved about $250 (or 700 Reais), money that can be MUCH better spent when I’m on the ground in Rio.
The only anxiety with using Priceline is that you have no idea what you itinerary will be, but you can set limits. You can specify how many connections you’re willing to make for example, and they can’t book your ticket with more, unless they get you’re permission. I also found that you must arrive by 12 noon the day following your departure, unless you approve otherwise. So with a little nervousness, I pushed the buy button and I got a perfect schedule, 14 hour total travel time to Rio and 15 hours back.
Next, I sent an email to Kenn at EZ-rentals to see if he could line me up a ride from the airport. And I made reservations for a suite ($60/night) at the Atlantico Copacabana where I stayed last time. The AC has the benefit of being right across the street from L’uomo and a 5-minute walk to Monte Carlo.
Tackle
This is one of my favorite parts of the trip. Lining up the gear I will need. After reading the reports on Vi-gel I figured no trip would be complete without it. So I started online searches for adult novelty shops in the area that might carry it. No luck and it was too late to order it online. What to do? Well I decided to try the local drug store on the off chance they might carry something like that. Bingo! Thank you Long’s!
So I get a red basket and go on my scavenger hunt. Finding what I need I walk up to the check out, where a nice, smiling middle-aged women is waiting. “May I help you?” she says, “Did you find everything you need?” With a smile I say “Yes I did”

The Waiting
So now I’m all geared up with nothing to do but wait. So I do the usual, read trip reports from the board, print out pictures of the girls I like from the agencies, look for restaurant reviews, etc.
Rio in two days.
So my next installment will come after I’m on the ground in Rio.
Stay tuned!

Remember the old saying, "Do not count you chickens before they hatch."
Putting this in your frame of thinking, "Do not count your chicas before you have done them."

Can you describe the Vi-gel package? I may try and look for it next time I go to Long's. How much did it cost?

You need to post pics of the lady at Long's, your plane ticket, and the "gear" you bought

Hilarious! One of the best laughs in a long time! Inspires me to write up a pre-trip report, too - from Chula Vista to Tijuana (for those not familiar with the area, they are separated by the grand distance of about 15 kilometers).

At Long's, I found Vigel in the condom section. They have the package that has four small recappable tubes for ~$20. The box is yellow/orange with a clear window displaying the tubes.
