FUCK!!!!!

That's what I feel like today because later this afternoon I will on my way to the airport to fly back home.

I head over to Alcazar and meet some hombres. After a somber lunch, Skull Jockey walks over to my apartment with me so I can give him my remaining Echinacea. He wants to see the apartment anyway. We say our good-byes and Don picks me up downstairs in a taxi around 3:00 and we head to 4X4 with my luggage.

Inside, I have a session with a girl and the only thing I can remember about her was that she had a tight body and dark hair. I had gone there to see Iris one last time before I left and she wasn't there yet, so I took this other girl up. After that was over, I come back down and sit with Don for a while. It's 5:00 now and I spot Iris and she comes over. I have to do this one again and I have just enough time before I head out at 6:00. I say my good-byes to Don and off I go upstairs.

In the room, I give her the last of my gifts and it is a good repeat performance. I will see this one again when I go back. Afterwards, in the shower, I realize it is 10 til 6:00 and the taxi that we have arranged is going to be waiting for me down there at 6:00. I jump out and tell her I have to go and kiss her good-bye and run to the locker room. Apparently in the rush to get dressed, I left my watch in my robe or something, and I never saw it again. (it was a cheap watch that I wore specifically for this trip so I didn't care) Outside of 4X4, I spot my taxi driver after about 10 minutes and off we go to GIG.

I have a Varig flight to Sao Paulo at 8:00 pm. When I get to the gate, the flight has been delayed by an hour. That sucks because it is a 50-minute flight and my plane for the States leaves at 10:10 pm. If I miss the 10:10 flight, the next DL flight is 10:10 tomorrow night. I knew it was going to be close and what I should have done was get in a taxi and go back to my apartment and try it again the next night. I almost did that. However, at 8:20, they called for boarding, so I get on the plane thinking that since we were delayed, they would get us out of there in 20 minutes or so. (foolish) We sit there at the gate and on the runway until 9:00 and I knew I was fucked. All the way to SP, I kept looking at the ETA and it was constantly 9:51 or 9:52. FUCK!!!!!

I get off the plane in SP at 10:00 and try to make my way to the DL counter, but it had already closed up. I have no idea where the gate is located. I wander around aimlessly for 15 or 20 minutes in a state of enormous depression. Here I am in a foreign airport at 10:30 at night, I don't know any Portuguese and the place is slowly shutting down. I finally make my way outside and spot a Mariott shuttle and they take me to the hotel about 2 miles away.

I woke up the next morning feeling as shitty as a human possibly can. I missed Rio, I missed the girls, and I missed my amigos. The idea of waiting around for over 12 hours in this state of depression is unbearable. My mind starts to work on me. I can sit here in this hotel room and later at the airport for over 12 hours holding my cock, or I can get my ass up and get on a plane back to Rio and be at Luomo by 4:00 with a cutie holding it. I know there are places to go to be entertained in Sao Paulo, but I have Rio on my mind and I'm in no mood to explore.

Since I have so long to wait before my flight, I start to call some airlines just to get an idea of flights out of SP to Rio. (stop laughing) The next one leaving GRU to GIG is less than an hour and I can't make it. The next one after that is at 4:40 pm. Although the hotel has granted me a late checkout of 5:00 pm, I decide to check out around 11:00 and go back to the GRU airport. The Mariott doesn't have a shuttle to the domestic airport (CGH), but they tell me I can catch one from GRU.

Here is a picture of the lobby of the Mariott in Sao Paulo. I was sitting there waiting for the shuttle to take me back to GRU and I thought I needed to capture this moment.

Back at GRU, I decide to go on a sightseeing tour of SP on the Airport Services bus to CGH. At only 21R, you can't beat it and it was a comfortable ride in a luxury coach liner. The ride was about an hour and now I am at CGH… technically just sightseeing and killing time. (stop laughing)

However, inside the airport, the TAM counter starts to call my name. I walk over and inquire about the flights to Rio. There is one leaving in less than 45 minutes. I walk away for awhile. Now is the moment of truth….

If I go back to Rio, I have to make it worth it. I can't just stay another day or so because that wouldn't be worth the extra expense of the round-trip plane ticket. I walk around for a few minutes. You only live once. The decision is made.

I stroll back up to the TAM counter with a smile on my face this time. Today is July 8th. I ask for a round trip ticket to Rio for the next flight out. "When will you be returning Mr. Aldaron?" I'll be returning on July 15th. (with my buddy Sandman) The next day I would send my boss an email and tell him I missed my flight, so I'm staying another week.

Flying back into Rio was like being reborn. I hadn't eaten anything all day except a KitKat bar, so during the flight they gave me a small ham sandwich and it was the best sandwich I've had in a long time. The ticket agent had specifically placed me on the right side of the plane so I could see Christ coming into Santos-Dumont. (after my last week in Rio, I needed Christ) It was glorious and the smile on my face could not be wiped away.

I catch a taxi outside the airport and tell him Avenue Atlantica/Hotel Debret. That's about the extent of my Portuguese. I go inside and get a room for the night and call Don. I tell him what happened and he gets a good laugh and tells me I can have either one of two apartments for the week. I opt for one closer to the action this time on the side street next to Debret. I am essentially about to experience two trips in 2 weeks.

It's dark now and the only thing I can think about is Luomo, so I make a solo run. It works out great because today is "the first’s" day off, so I grab her friend Karen and we are off. After our session, we take a shower and somehow, the subject got on her bunda (doesn't it always with these girls) and she asks me in broken English if I like to do "that", and I reply, “sometimes”. At that point she informs me that she loves it and she can orgasm 1, 2, 3… times that way. (Now she tells me.) We play around a bit more and I promise to fuck her in the ass next time and she smiles. ( ahh…the sacrifices we have to make guys) I also get her phone number, but I never called her because this next week would belong almost exclusively to two women.

I leave Luomo and head to Terraco to find some amigos. I find some sitting at a table and by this time, some have heard of what happened to me. As I walk up, Skull Jockey starts laughing saying, "I'm not seeing this… you are not really here." I explain… or try to and everyone gets a good laugh because they understand. I wouldn't go into Help this night and opt for a night alone in my Debret room to relax and take it all in. It had been a turbulent 24 hours for me, but I was back in Rio for another week and life couldn't be better.

Marriott in SP? You must have spent a pretty penny. Glad you got another week out added to your vacation, you gotta have a real cool manager to allow you to take a whole week off.

You poor bastardo - that airport mess was a nightmare. Shows you just how lucky we are in the states to have many more options when a flight is missed. Staying another week isn't really an option for most of us but you made the best of it (lol.)

Got an airline employee discount at Mariott. It was only $54.00

DAMN!! 54/night. WOW! I need to meet a nice airline employee in Rio, that charge about 275/night at the Marriott in the Copa. Maybe one of them can hook me up with a discount too:-)

Thumper, the Rio Marriott costs more than the SP one, even with discounts.

Aldaron, too bad you didn't hobby in SP. My second time to hobby there was because of a aircraft mechanical delay. It was the start of my preference for SP over Rio! Do your SP research, and next time check out SP. I love it there:-)

You reports have been great! This one was the best thought. Admit it, you never wanted to leave Rio and were just looking for an excuse to stay. :-)

I actually had every intention of getting on that plane July 7th if I had gotten there in time. However, once I had a little time to spend alone in SP, there was little doubt where I would end up by mid-morning. I had the vacation time, so I went for it.

One more comment about Sampa. I realized when I got home that I had put Athos' "Guide to Sao Paulo for Dummies" on my laptop before I left. However, in the heat of the moment, I wasn't thinking about it. While in my hotel room in SP, I never even turned my laptop on. After refreshing my memory about SP, I am kind of sorry I didn't take advantage of my missed flight and visit some of the entertainment there. However, if I had done that, I would have been on the flight out that night back home, and I wouldn't have gotten to experience what I did in Rio the next week. I do want to spend some time in SP though.

Thanks for the great report. It is great to read a newbie's journey. I don't blame you for staying longer. I did the same thing a year and a half ago during my first trip to South America. I ended up staying another week too. The crappy thing is that I bought the ticket on hotwire.com so I couldn't pay a change fee. Had to pay $800 to buy a new ticket. You know what? It was worth it. Thanks again.

I was fortunate enough to have an "open" ticket on my Delta flight back home.
