Next time you find yourself on a bus to Thailand from Malaysia, stop over in Hatyai (near the border). It's one of the off-the-beaten-track sanuk venues (although frequented by Malays). It's a great way to break up the journey (and you'll find a LOT more massage places there).

Mmm ... I miss Phuket (and Hatyai).

Never thought much of Phuket as quality hobby site. On my last visit in April the quality and quantity of the poo ying was definitely at an all time low.

I must admit I have bever visited there without a tilac in tow but I did have opportunities to sample the local talent and was generally unimpressed. I'll take BKK any day-- Pattaya a close second. Phuket is way down on my list. The girls at Christies could not hold a candle to the girls of any soapie on Rachada or Petchaburi Rd .

I always favored phuket: (been there countless times, so maybe just familiar to me)

but, I have to admit, it seems like it was better a few years back. could be my perspective, or it actually has changed for the worse.

I plan to be in Thailand mid aug, but probably not make it to Phuket this time ( to do research of course)

Khun_mor: there are treasures to be found in Phuket, to be sure. They're not always in Patong and there are some real sweet bargins in places as close as Karon beach. I just love the surf and interesting places I can go on my motorbike.

Pasathai: The last time I walked under that overpass (one year ago), all signs indicated it was soi zero. I heard that it *used* to be called buckskin joes, but no more.

You are correct sir-- in the old days it was Buckskin Joes . Now still called Soi Zero. There are some really interesting beer bars here and some real beauties can be found on occasion. Not so many customers usually . The girls sometimes start out here before moving on to the busier bars or to the chrome poles.
As I said Wombat I have never been to Phuket without a tilac alongside. It just seems the southern Thai girls in general are far less attractive. There are far fewer stunners walking around than either BKK or Pattaya- not just the BG's but the poo ying in general.

Not to feel so bad. I do not remember the first time it was Soi Zero but you have to realize that for the first 10 years or so I almost never went to NEP so never saw what it was called. I only remember later driving past Buckskin Joes in a taxi and thinking it looked like nothing much. The past few years I have found some real sweeties there --now Soi Zero of course. One little Chinese-Thai spinner that was incredible and still makes me shiver when I think of her. After I left she was quickly snapped up by some ex pat. Gone on my next visit.
