Checked into City Garden Hotel for 2,000 pesos for the Superior Deluxe Room on the 20th floor. Place has a great view of downtown, decent bed, solid bathroom and a pretty good couch. The place was fairly small and was a bit musty for me. I was too tired to give a shit so I just slept till about noon.
At this point, I had the rest of my money in traveler's checks. I only averaged about $100 a day(including hotel) and half of my money was still left but it was all in TC's. I knew that Makati would be expensive, so i tried to cash in $400 in TC at the various banks. I was denied at three banks as they did not think my signature matched my passport. It wasn't exact but you could see the distinction. The money changers wanted to give me 49 to 1 rate when it was 53 to 1..fuck that. I finally gave up as the banks were closed and was ready to head to the airport but this really hot front desk girl told me that there was an American Express office in Makati. Taxi actually turned on the meter and I was pleased to find this place as they gave me better rates than I received for cash in AC. I was shocked at how nice the place was. I was a little freaked, as my shorts were bulging with over 21,000 pesos in denominations of 500. I went back to the hotel and put half of it back in the safe.
Nothing was open but Dimples. I reviewed all of these places individually in my guide to Manila but I must add that this place is open at noon and you will be swarmed with girls begging for 295 peso lady drinks. By 6pm, most of the places were open and I did spend about 2 hours sitting with an unreal chick at Papillon. I would not say that the talent here is superior to Angeles because the girls are a little older and have worked longer. I like them fresh off the farm but I liked that fact that I knew these girls were pros and did not have to worry about girls getting attached or teaching these girls how to fuck. There are the occasional newbie girls working but it is fairly rare. I would say my favorite bars were Bar Bandido, Bottoms Up and Papillon Bar. I was only there one night, so my opinion will probably change when I arrive in Makati on August 17th . I really would avoid Makati at the beginning of the trip for newbies as you could spend more in one night than 4 nights in AC. The places were really slow at 8pm, so I took a taxi to EDSA.
I really love how all of the bars are in a circle surrounding a mid-section. It's like spokes on a bicycle with each spoke having a completely different vibe and quality of girl.
