2003/08 Sandman - The Chocolate Wars of Cuba
Challenge was on. Bull Honkey (Winkle) was gonna bring his magic Mexican cocoa plant and I was going to bring my good old Hersheys with a few Kit Kats thrown in for good measure. We were heading to Cuba for the showdown.
It was like doing battle with an unarmed man. His first trip to the island and my third this year, Former Legend FL (former TB) and I were taking the newbie under our wing to show him the ropes and introduce him to the delights of Cuba.
Now, if you haven't figured it out yet, BW is one of the reigning brainiacs of our universe. His IQ is off the charts (even though he wouldn't admit what his actual score was) and Mensa to him is for kids. We were outgunned from a pure academic and intelligence quotient standpoint (probably Sandman and FL put together) but this little hobby is not about book smarts but street smarts. When we first met, he reminded me of the asshole that used to sit in the front row and destroy the curve for everyone else in the class. Turned out to be a pretty good guy and we did have a lot of fun…even though we set him up a few times with a few practical jokes…he emerged unscathed and now joins the ranks of Cuba veterans.
