My taxi picked me up at about 5:45 for a 10:15 flight to Bangkok. What I did not know that day was that Friday's from Angeles to Manila are pure hell, especially during a holiday(Aquino's B-day) when everyone is going back and forth to see "relatibs". Would I miss my flight to my favorite country? Would they have available seats the next day? Would I lose the ticket as it was comped by FF miles? Would there be an available return flight a day later or would the trip be cut short? I was losing my fuckin' mind and we were not moving faster than 2 mph. We arrived in the city of Manila at 10:00(4 hours later) and I was hoping that my flight might be delayed. Didn't matter because it took another 2 hours to go 10 miles to the airport. The taxi ride took 6 hours. Went to the information counter and Philippine Airlines really took care of me. First they gave me a waiver ticket so that I would not have to pay the $100 fee for flight change. I then was directed to the PAL office and had to wait a little while before getting a flight the next day to BKK and a return flight one day later than planned. I was completely relieved but knew that I could not return to Angeles for one night so I would have to put a dent in my budget and stay in Manila. The average money spent in Manila for hotel and fun is a little more than Bangkok. I usually spend about $200-$250 if I do multiple sessions...which is the norm. In constrast, I usually spend about $100 in AC. I then had to deal with taxi drivers not wanting to use their meter but finally found an honest guy and was off to Century Citadel Inn.

WS:If your flight gets in at night, maybe you should consider staying in Manila one night after the exhausting flight. The car trip to AC at night is a bit shorter, but still about 2 hours.
