This place is not a mongering destination but it is a nice side trip from Hermosillo. It takes about 1 & 1/2 hours to drive here one-way from Hermosillo. The road is pretty good (by Mexican standards) and they are repaving parts of it on a continual basis. It is not a toll road.
This would be a great place to take a chica for a GFE. And when I find the right chica, thats what I intend to do. There are bungalows that you can rent out pretty cheap. Last time I was there I found one right on the beach for $600 pesos/night and it sleeps 4-5 adults.

These are some photos taken at Jorge's Restaurant in Nuevo Kino. Great food. You can get a complete lobster tail dinner (with two big tails) for about $150 pesos.

This photo was taken in Kino Viejo. It shows a local woman preparing a fish called Lisa. My friend Carlos and I ate a complete meal (including drinks) for about $80 pesos + tip.

Here is another favorite photo of mine taken from Jorge's patio. Considering it is on the Sea of Cortez, the surf here is almost non-existent. I have seen much bigger waves on Lake Michigan when I lived in Milwaukee! I think the reason the sea is so calm is because the shore is protected by a huge island called Tiburon (shark). Tiburon is the largest island in Mexico.-My Image-

Made a trip to Kino Bay this past June with my girlfriend and her family. It was about 110 degrees in Hermosillo but the beach was a very comfortable. I would guess around 80 degrees with a nice cool breeze off the water. If it wasn't for that breeze off the water, it would have been miserable!

I spent the afternoon under a palapa sipping beer and snacking. You can rent a nice palapa there for about $50 pesos.

I did a little swimming. The surf was fairly strong but nothing like the Pacific. The water was warm until you swam out beyond the surf. It was a beautiful summer afternoon. I can't wait to go again.

I have sent Administrator some nice pics I took that afternoon. I hope you like them.

Recently went here with my Hermosillo buddy to party with his family during "Semana Santa". Directly translated that means: "Holy Week" and it is the week before Easter.

I did not enjoy myself. The weather was bad in that it was so windy here that if you walked on the beach your skin would sting from the constant spray of sand against it! Also, it really was too cool for swimming.

Traffic was HORRIBLE!

The drive from Hermosillo to the coast normally takes about an hour. Because of frequent alcohol check points by the cops, it took us about 1 1/2 hrs to get there. When we arrived we discovered that the two way road that runs along the beach (the only road there) was turned into a one way road by the local police to accomodate the high volumn of traffic due to the holiday. This meant, for example, to return to south side of New Kino, where my friend was staying, from the north side of New Kino I had to drive the entire length of the beach and then take a detour south on a dirt road through the desert! It was a big pain in the ass!

Luckily, I have a 4-wheel drive vehicle and was able to make my own detour accross the dunes that line the shore. Using my 4-wheel drive was the only fun I had on that trip!

In the future, I plan to avoid all beach resorts in Mexico during Holy Week.
