Don’t expect the spectacular cuisine that Thailand and Japan are famous for. Most of the local food caters to Americans, although all places have Filipino food for your honeyko as well. Filipino food is the most unimaginative and flavorless food in Asia and finding a competent cook is nearly impossible. There is a reason why you only see Filipino restaurants in areas inhabited by Filipinos. One of the biggest problems is that the transportation of fresh goods is horrible, making the fresh produce and meats of a lower quality. Needless to say, there are still plenty of places to eat in Angeles and the food can be extremely good at times. Here are some in the mongering area:
Kokomos: This is probably my favorite place to eat in Angeles for many reasons. The service by the waitress’ is solid. The outside patio is a perfect place to watch the girls on their way to the bar or their apartment. A lot of the expats congregate here and you can g advice from these bitter old sages. The pizza’s here are the best in Angeles and the crust is usually rolled dough rather than cracker bread. They have a good selection of various Asian dishes and their Filipino food is decent. They give you 20 piso refills on jars of soda or draft beer when ordering certain meals. They have specials every day of unique menu items. The prices here are dirt cheap. They have great ice teas that you can order in big masonry jars but they are too sweet for my taste. I recommend the seafood platter, the club sandwich, and Pad Thai. Located on Fields.
Margarita Station: I boycotted this place for a while due to the poor service and multiple bouts of mild food poisoning BUT this place finally got their shit together and has made drastic improvements. The menu is the most extensive and diverse in Angeles. The menu itself is colorful and has pictures of every item. Your honeyko will prefer this place as it has the most extensive menu of Filipino food. The breakfast menu here is huge. Every day there is a special which has everything from Mongolian Barbecue to Hoagie Day. Their Margaritas are great and they always have local beers around 25 pisos or so (50 cents). The waitress are all 4'7" tall or shorter. Some of the girls with attitude were finally fired. I guess most of the girls get tired of 60 year old guys asking if they can barfine them. My favorite waitress is a little spinner named April and she rules in the service department. When you find a waitress you like, stick with her every time you go. The Chicken Adobo here is outstanding as are most Pinoy dishes because the cooks are Filipino. The problem is that the prior cook had training in Thailand but no longer works there and the new cooks consistently fuck up the Thai dishes so I don’t recommend ordering Thai food here. Located on Fields Ave.
Krung Thai: Amazing that there is a full fledge Thai restaurant on Fields Ave but this restaurant is actually nice enough to take your honeyko and not be embarrassed. This is a sit down place with real plates and table cloths. The menu is pretty extensive and the prices are a little higher than most places in AC but cheap by world standards. The som tum (papaya salad) here is horrible but the spring rolls are good. Most of the curry and stir fry dishes are solid but nowhere near Thai quality. This place is pretty good and is a great place to take your girl
Orchid Inn: The pool area here has a café and open air dining area. The place hires very friendly wait staff. The breakfast buffet here is solid. They also have different buffets during the week and their Australian BBQ’s are outstanding. Very extensive menu and good desserts. There is a cantina bar in the same vicinity.
Molly Malones: For 250 pisos, your not likely to find a better deal for buffets in AC. The place has a nice rustic decor reminiscent of an old Irish Bar. The buffet includes different carver roasts, ham and beef. They also make a good shephards pie and they have pretty good desserts.
Chic N Ribs: The best food in Angeles IMHO. They have BBQ buffets on Wednesday and Friday. The buffet has great BBQ chicken, fish, beef and pork along with great salads and side dishes. The regular menu has different types of BBQ chicken, beef and seafood. Many of the dishes are done Filipino style are have more flavor than your average Filipino dish. They also make great fruit shakes here. They also have karaoke on the weekends. Highly recommended.
International Shwarma Center: This place is packed at all times in the night as it is open to the wee hours of the morning. The have great shwarma sandwiches and plates. The high turnover of product means that this place turns out good food quickly. The average plate will set you back 60 pisos ($1). You will see many cheap mongers splurging for their dates here.
Max’s Chicken: Located in Dau so you will have to take a trike here. This is a chain all over the PI but the only one close to Angeles is in Dau and it will take a 5 minute trike to get here with your ko. The place has solid chicken plates at cheap prices and normally has a lot of Filipino families. The best thing here are the fruit shakes and Halo halo desserts. Located across the street from the Bus Station.
Chow King: Located right next to Margarita Station. They have chains in the US and they are everywhere in the PI. Mostly Chinese food with a Filipino flair. Best is to order Ube or Mango shakes with tapioca balls heres or halo halo. Much cheaper than in the states and the place is loaded with bargirls....good place to set up later sessions. I have caught numerous girls with their Pinoy boyfriends here and they told me to promise not to tell certain people. Fuck them, bros before hos.....no secrets with me.
Jollibee/Mcdonalds: They are both located in Dau. They are both good for cheap fast food if your into that. The Jollibee is especially cheap....much cheaper than the ones in the US and they have good peach-mango pies and spaghetti. There is also a Jollibee at Savers Mall.
Ricks Café: Place is outdoors and can be a little hot at times but it is much shadier than the other outdoor cafes. Rick has a good menu of standard American food and the breakfasts are particularly good. Has a business office/internet café next door and there are always DVD movies being shown on the multiple televisions. The waitress’ here are very friendly and asked me if they could txt me later....one girl did and came over in a flash for free sex. Not sure if the girls are available here or not. On Fields Ave.
Ristorante Varona: Great Italian food place located right above Lancelot bar. They have an outdoor patio that gives you an excellent view of the girls walking to and from work and home. Come here around 5-7 and you will see hundreds of girls on their way to work. Great place to say hello to girls you know or future prospects. The Italian food here is good but the pizza is average. There is also an indoor restaurant with ac. The waitress’ here are hot.
Free Food: Another thing to do, especially if you are on a budget is to go to all the events that have free food. Once you make your morning stroll down Fields, you will always see a banner at a small bar advertising free food that night. This is not happy hour food, I’m talking full fledge BBQ’s, buffets, etc. Some are better than others but you will always know the best places to go by following the 350 pound expats who keep a schedule of where the best free food is.

Re: prices, dinner plates at Kokomoz usually range from 100-180 pesos, and if you're staying at the hotel they comp you one meal per day. The food at Margarita Station and the restaurant at the Orchid is a little more expensive than that, but depends on what you order -- the portions at Margarita Station are generally HUGE and still an excellent value. 250 pesos or more borders on quasi-expensive, though Molly Malone's and Ristorante Verona are certainly worth it, if only for the pleasure of dining in air-conditioned comfort. At an exchange rate of 55-1, it's pretty easy to see that food is dirt cheap in Angeles. Like Blazers said, though re: quality: It ain't Thailand!
If I go a day without a shwarma in AC I truly miss them the next day.

I usually ate at least one meal a day at the hotel either I or Epi was staying at, and the atmosphere in places like Kokomoz, Margarita Station and La Cantina at the Orchid can be a lot of fun. There's just a buzz in the air at those places with people coming and going with their bargirls that you don't get at the inside places. Of course it can be hotter than hell there sometimes as they're open air.
A tip from another board, I haven't had a chance to try it, but a new restaurant on Santos called "Hole in the Wall" supposedly has awesome steak dinners for 300 pesos.

I would also like to add:
HOLE IN THE WALL: This place is at the base of Santos Ave.(Blow Row) but there is also a back entrance right across from Central Park Hotel. It has an old West feel to it and there is a lot of Motorcycle and airplane memorabilia. You can eat outside on the balcony during cool season and watch the spectacle of Blow Row...billboys and all. The food is pretty good IMHO. I thought the steaks were very good for Angeles standards...dont expect Ruth Chris. The wings were also very good. They have an Aussie breakfast but they dont open until 11am sometimes so it's probably better to go to Orchid for that. Service is solid and they have a good selection of drinks.

The glaring omission here is SubDelicious. The best food I've had in Angeles so far. I can highly recommends the burgers, the philly cheesesteak, and the onion rings are the best I've ever had anywhere in my life. Open 24 hours, and the upstairs area is super-comfortable and a great place to hang out.
If you stay at Kokomoz hotel you get 180 pesos per day worth of credit towards food purchased there, so generally one meal of the day for you is ibcluded free in the price of an already cheap room.

I second Porker's recommendation of SubDelicious. Great food by AC standards. Also I thought the breakfast buffet at Orchid sucked-- very few choices and poor quality. Perhaps they have changed cooks ? I ended up eating breakfast at Central Park every day.

Breakfast at Central Park is indeed pretty good, but the portion you get for the price is not. I often felt like I should order another breakfast after I finished. The now disappeared Atravel actually did that once at Margarita Station, where the price on the menu should tell you something about portion size -- if it's CHEAP, you probably want to order at least one side dish.
Unfortunately Kokomoz does NOT offer a free meal with the price of their rooms these days, something they neglected to tell me until I was checking out, which seemed pretty damned cheesy. I even got Mo involved, and he backed the staff and told me to pay up, which had me scratching my head a little bit, as normally he's all about being Mr. Customer service. He responded that I should have been getting a 15% discount on all meals and drinks and stuff at Kokomoz and Voodoo during my stay. Ooh Ahh. I even showed the girl in the office that the MO-tel was still advertising the free breakfast on their website. Mo's response 'that's a mistake'. Aah, the Philippines!
Mo DID offer to comp my upgrade from a small pizza to a 'meed-jum' as the waitresses like to say. Gee, just like it was pizza special day (normally Tuesday at Kokomoz, I think) on a Saturday!
Despite all of this, Mo is a super nice guy, and I'd hope all of you would introduce yourself to him when you're in AC, as he's a very public and visible frontman for his businesses.

MongerX and I had dinner at the Thai place across from DMZ that Blazers mentions, and it seemed pretty damned good to ME, though I'm not at ALL the Thai food conossieur that Blazers is.
But for ME, SubDelicious RULES. Air-conditioned, good, cheap food with amazingly generous portions. Can't wait to go back in a few weeks.
