Whilst in pattaya Thailand,
Has eny one taken a trip to Hat Lek
The nearist Cambodian town to Pattaya,
Its not as lively as Pattaya but makes a change
if you are spending some time in pattaya,
It has a brothel village with the usual good service from the Vietnamese ladys,
It allso has a nice market
You can get to Hat Lek by taxi, or cheaper still
go into a tour shop in Pattaya and book a mini bus,
This will take you to the nearist Thai town for the Cambodian border,
The mini bus will be full of student packpackers, of to one of the Thai islands moon partys,
you will be dropped of to catch a local bus for the border whilst the mini bus carries on to its moon party,
[When you do get dropped of, the backpackers will give you a funny look, wondering why your not going with them]
You get your local bus to the border, and get your visa, [remember to take a passport size photo]
Once your in Cambodia take a taxi to Hat Lek,
Have a look for a Hotel, or the taxi driver will find you one [for a commission]and get settled in,The brothel village is easy to find, but maybe for the first time ask a taxi to take you, again he will drop you of to one he knows [commission]after this you can remember for yourself.
Summary of were the brothel village is,
so you will go a little out of town
Theres brothels on the way to the brothel village, Then a wheat or maze field,
Then the brothel village itself.
Going back to pattaya, you can get a taxi 1500B.
or cheaper, go to the Thai nearist town and get a bus, which is a longer journey and stops outside pattaya

Interesting but a few more details please !! What are the hotels like ? Which do you recommend ? How long is the Taxi to Hat Lek ?? Where do you tell taxi to go ? Obviously a Thai taxi cannot take you to Hat Lek-- where on the border do you travel to ?? I have never heard of this village and am very interested.
Thanks for info !!

Hat Lek is actually the town on the Thai side of the Cambodian Border. I believe he is referring to Koh Kong which is the Cambodian town immediatly across the border from Hat Lek.

Now that makes more sense. If I can get some time away from Da -- Koh Kong is definetly on my do not miss list !!! Thanks to Sancho for the info ! I thought Hat Lek sounded like a Thai name.

Khun mor,
The visual image I got of you on the back of a moto in the little village of Koh Kong got me to smile. From what I gather of your life style, supported by the places you like to stay and eat while in Bangkok (and even Pattaya),that image didn't quite fit in with Sancho's $3 guest house or even the deluxe digs that I enjoy for $15 at the "Koh Pic". But, then I remembered that one of the big influences behind the opening of the boarder crossing and the building of the bridge at Koh Kong was a group of investors who wanted to put in some Casino style Resorts and a golf course or two. I do believe one of them actually opened last fall, a true testament to the power of $$$$ and knowing a few of the right people. At any rate, should you ever make the journey into Cambodia via the Hat Lek / Koh Kong crossing you might consider staying at this place. That way in stead of riding up to the Chicken Ranch on the back of a moto you could go in the Hotel Limo!

Thanks for the link. NOW we're talking my kind of digs !! I wonder if the hotel's guest friendly ??
I do not share in Sancho's desire to experience 3rd world squalor.
I'll take their poo ying though !

The brothel scene was pretty third world too. Koh Kong is certainly not Bangkok. The whole experience is not even remotely the same. Koh Kong is very third world and the brothel scene is very hard core. I'm sure all of the hotels could care less about guests except perhaps maybe a guest house or two that may be ran by expats with some social agenda.
