Part of my Asia : "The point of no return" ultimate trip. Other countries visited includes Malaysia, Cambodia, China(Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen etc), Macau, Singapore, Taiwan etc. I was going through my notes doing chica count and at 2 minutes a day it took me 4 and a half hours. Versus say a ten day trip which will take 20 mins. So I doubt I'b be able to post everything but enjoy what's there.
Bangkok skyline view from Siam Square skytrain station. In the background is Thailand's tallest building. There are many other skyscrapers in Bangkok. In the foreground is Hotel Intercontinental's 4 storey lobby and one of it's wings.

DJ, did you know that the Intercontinental is gone? I watched it get demolished on my last trip there. It will soon be Bangkok's next luxury mega-mall.

Thanks Merlin.
Murasaki, I'm aware of that when I was there. It was sitting on a huge piece of land at the most expensive location in all of Thailand, Siam Square and in front of skytrain station. It was like a mini Central Park inside, peacocks roaming around, jogging tracks, tennis courts, little bridges and streams, golf driving range, gym etc. It was a shame that the land value got so expensive that it was more profitable for them to demolish a perfectly fine Bangkok landmark which has been there for 4 decades.

KM, I've submitted some pics a few weeks ago.

Hey, DJ, can you tell me if you need a VISA to go to China before the trip? Some sites indicate that I'll need a "sponsor's letter. Thanks.

Man, I miss that place and I was never even inside. It was just part of that amazing view from the station. <sigh>
Yes, Merlin, you need a VISA to go to China. You don't need a sponsor's letter if you're a tourist. It takes a few days to get a visa normatlly, but you can get one right away if you go in through Hong Kong.

Thanks Wombat for the info and also your previous referral to that great wesite that resurrected my erased digital photos. Worked like a charm. P.S. FYI, the photos that will be posted 12/11/03 are the resurrected ones.

Merlin, wombat answered it. If you get the visa you can speed it to 1 day up by paying extra(about$20 extra). Wombat, the place looks even bigger from the inside than outside.
I'm tied up all day these last two days and I will post more most likely tomorrow.

Thailand has so much more than the p4p scene that many people who have never been outside of their country unfairly judge Thailand. Outside of the p4p industry, it is actually a pretty religeous and conservative country.
