After driving an hour or so out of the way, I picked up a detailed road map and found Atlantis. I arrived early afternoon and wasn't expecting much happening at this hour. Went back to FKK Sauna--no necklace as expected. While there, I decided to make the best of it and fit in two quickies to improve my spirits. Frankfurt is not an industrial city, never has been. Most major German industry is in very different regions. The Rhein/Ruhr area between Essen and Dortmund alwys was the industrial hub, being the area where mining and such was done. In Stuttgart and around Munich is where a lot of the Machinery Works and Car plants are. Frankfurt is a Banking Center and the transportation hub of Germany. It is also where the major stock markets in Germany are.. It is also the financial centre of continental europe and the home of the European Central Bank. It also has a good cultural scene with a number of theatres, opera houses and museums. It has areas which are as picturesque as anything else you will see in europe, and since it is in Germany, the highways are free, the trains run on time and everything is clean and efficient, completely unlike Paris. 400 year old buildings and cobblestone streets can easily be found in frankfurt too. Don't knock a city you know little about.

As Peter said, it is primarily a finance hub. It is a very clean city with a lot of restaurants and things to see if time allows (non mongering). Surprisingly, ATMs are not plastered about and are usually located only inside banks. My challenges were mostly language related. It's worth learning some German as the country is very picturesque and a fun place to visit. The only downside is the cost, which may or may not be prohibitive depending one ones' financial situation.

In my upcoming report/s, I'll compare/contrast the scene here with other places. For now, let me say it would never come close to replacing LoS and PI for me. I agree with Wallstreet in that if one has 3 days, some cash, and lives on the east coast of the USA or Europe, I highly recommend it.
