Background:

This was not my first trip to Colombia, but it was the first time I had come prepared to enjoy the hobby and the first time flying through ATL directly into BOG. The official purpose of my visit was work, and it was the 4th time in 4 years that I traveled to Colombia. You'd have to be blind not to notice the beauty of the women and in particular the quantity of beautiful women. My travel preparations were taylored arround my work schedule, which left very little time for mongering, so I knew up front that the long days would have to be even longer if I wanted to explore the women of Colombia. I speak Spanish fluently and I found this to be extremely helpful, but even with good language skills I could never shake the gringo look, no matter how much I tried to blend in. Being a gringo in Colombia is a funny thing, everybody wants you for something, it's great with the women, but not so great with the guerrillas. Although I did not feel any danger at any point during my trip, it is important to mention that common sense and a bit of paranoia can keep you safe. My trip turned out to be an adventure both in mongering and work, but all in all an unforgetable experience. On the mongering side, I prepared by reading as much as I could on this site, I found a lot of advice that I followed and it proved to be very helpful.

Day 1 - Arrival

Flying into BOG at 8:30 PM I figured I would just get into my hotel late and try to get some sleep since I knew I would not do so the rest of the time in Colombia. Arriving at El Dorado is actually very welcoming, and within an hour and fifteen minutes I was unpacking my bags at the hotel. I noticed for the first time that the passport check in BOG does not have separate lines for citizens and non-citizens, other than the crew/diplomats line, all others are first come - first serve. I noticed this and went to the shortest line I saw while all the foreigners lined-up behind each other and were probably still in line when I was getting in my taxi. I decided to stay at the Suites Real 85 based on a posting I read here some time ago. I did this for two very good reasons; first, it is located on calle 85 with carrera 18 making it a very central while upscale location, and second, because it is located within walking distance to the nightlife of the city (both the zona rosa and the strip/cabaret joints along ave. 15).

So there I am, not even 10:00 PM yet, and even though I am tired from the flights (but mostly from the long wait in ATL), I decided to take the advice of the doorman at the hotel at let him bring me a girl. By the way, when I asked him if there was anything to do this late on a Sunday night he said not much but that he could hook me up with a girl if I wanted. Since I had not really planned on doing any mongering the first night, I considered it a bonus to get the offer and went with it. 30 minutes later Joana arrived at my door and things were looking good. Joana is 19, "blanca" (caucasian), about 5'7", probably 120 lbs, and with a great set of tits. This turned out the be the worst experience I had during my trip, not to say that it was a terrible experience, but compared to the other girls I met she was way too shy and inexperienced. I rate the experience a 5 on a 1-10 scale, but those of you who know Colombia may agree with me that this scale is a bit tougher that in other places. Anyway, Joana did not do BBBJ, and as it turns out none of the outcall services allow the girls to do it. Joana's demeanor could have been easily misconstrued for lack of interest, so I told her that if she wasn't into doing things right I would pay for her cab and send her back. She told me that she was new in town from the "llanos orientales" and she was still embarrassed and shy. Once we talked a little she loosened up and things improved. She had a great firm body and complied with most of my requests, but having to tell her what to do was not what I wanted. Like I said, sweet and pretty, but not the best. It cost me 80KCP, but I founf out that 20K went to the doorman (sneaky fellow), and even though it was not expenssive, I do not like overpaying. Unless you are in a hurry or lack the skills to communicate, I strongly recommend that you "go" and "pick" your girl. Once on site, negociations are more fruitful and you are likely to get exactly what you want rather than having to compromise.

I don't know, I think that an opertunity to break in a new girl could be fun and rewarding at the same time. But having the doorman take a 25% cut for "finding" a girl is way too much for any location.

Nice start to your report. I am waiting for more info. If you get cell phone numbers from these girls you can take out the middle man. I will be heading to Bogota in the new year and would appreciate any of these numbers.

Keep up the good work.

Great info on Bogota - so I'm curious, for teh first time I will eb flying directly into El Dorado airport on my way to Cali instead of a direct flight form Miami. Any advise on the arrival/immigration process you can give me for when I arrive? I heard this airport is very packed in comparison to some major US airports.

Did you happen to spot an ATM anywhere?

Thx,
Bat

Batman,

Clearance in BOG is not that bad. I carry on and am normally out inside of 15 minutes after exiting the plane. Take note Lanzan's comments that there is no national and foreigner line. The only restricted line is the one on the far right which is for crew and diplomats. You will see lots of "VIPs" get preferential treatment at immigration but this happens everywhere.

Customs is the usual press the button and go. Baggage claim tends to be Latin American slow. But, I travel light.

I never had need for an ATM but there are about 4 banks on the second level before you get to security. My guess is there will be something there. You will be exiting on the lower level from international. The main terminal is on the right and you need to take the escalator to the second level to get to both the domestic and international gates. On this second level, you will find restaurants (they are all over but the food court is to the far right), shopping (coffee and tourist trap stuff), a book store, and several banks/currency exchanges. If you want to eat, buy anything or bank, do it here. After security there is very little. The international side does have a fairly extensive Duty Free after immigration. The prices here are better than most duty free zones, which may be duty free but are seldom profit free. I normally just skip it because the only thing I buy duty free is booze and there isn't much of that offered here.

Have fun in Cali and with the Calenas.

Lanzan, I was checking for parts 2 - ?. Want to see where you found better action.

PKS2141 - FYI, Joana came from a place called Chicas Milenio, lacated on calle 71 # 15-22, tel. 249-2927. I had a taxi drive by the place the next day on my way to a meeting and was not impressed at all. From the look of the street and building, this place was a shit hole. I would not recommend guys with poor language skills to go there, besides, there are plenty of nicer (safer looking) places in BOG.

Batman - I think PKS2141 coverd the El Dorado quite well. My only contribution is that when flying out, the food court (near the natinal departure gates) offers great Colombian food. Try the Tamales, they are as good as you'd find out in the country.
