Day 3/Getting Home
I woke up at 7:45am, looked outside and saw it was snowing pretty heavily. I hoped this wouldn’t affect the flight. I took a shower, got dressed and headed down to breakfast with my bag. Breakfast was very good again, same as yesterday.
I settled up the bill: 90 Euros for two nights. They asked me if I used the mini-bar or telephone – I had not and my word was good enough for them.
The snow had stopped and I was on the road at 8:30am and took 521 to A661 to A3 to the airport. I made it to the airport at 9:20am for an 11:10am flight, but I didn’t see one gas station. So I circled the airport and headed downtown, finding one a couple of miles away. I filled up (35 Euros) and headed back to the underground parking at Terminal 2. There are no signs for Rental Car Returns. Just follow the signs for Terminal 2 and you’ll see it on the right. Also, Continental is not listed on any sign – but they are out of Terminal 2 – something good to remember,
I pulled into Sixt and they did a quick inspection, and I was done. Check-in was a breeze, but they were being super cautious today, so after the regular security check, everyone on my flight was very thoroughly hand-searched just before entering the gate.
The flight boarded on time and left 10 minutes late. Again I lucked out in seat 19D – the middle seat was empty. The same tail wind that helped the plane hit 660mph and make the trip in 6.5 hours on the way over now slowed it down to 450 mph and made us take almost 9 hours to get home.
Clearing immigration took a long time and getting through customs even longer. I took a bus to Port Authority ($9.50 one way) and a cab home. My second Frankfurt trip was in the books. What a great weekend!

Wallstreet,
Great posts. The gas station in the airport only takes German cash cards. The closest station to the airport is in Kelsterbach, about 4 km away. You'll see it listed on the highway exit signs for the airport - just follow the signs and about 2 minutes into town there's a gas station on the right hand side. It opens at 6 A.M.
