Within the first few days in Rio every on experiences HELP, the cafes, and the beach. Even if you are nor a sun worshiper a trip to the beach is called for. One visit is enough to make clear just why these beaches are among the best known in the world. In case their natural beauty were not enough these beaches are generally covered with Brazilian girls. The central area for finding beach girls on the program is a hundred meter wide stretch directly across from the Rio Othon. Many of the girls in this stretch are available and many of them go topless. The view is good and provides a nice introduction to the Rio beach, but a few words of caution may be needed. This area is jammed with touts who will offer to provide you with any thing you desire. Many of them fancy themselves as big time pimps and will bring you a steady stream of girls with the least amount of encouragement. Steer clear of these guys. Not only are they totally unnecessary but their main job is to separate you from the maximum amount of your cash by whatever means possible. Do not let them run a drink tab for you and, if you must rent something from them, Never pay more than half of what they ask. The girls are yours for a wink and a smile and no introductions are necessary. Sometimes it is hard to get used to the sexual openness of the Brazilaras and a good attitude may sometimes be confused with a comeon. However, in this strip of beach you are pretty safe. Eye contact and a little wave are usually all that is required. More of these girls have a little english than is the norm in Rio, so arrangements are easily made. Make sure the financial arrangements are clear in advance. Beach hook ups are usually short time and I have often gotten 100R hours even though they all want 150R. Remember…buyer’s market. On the beach, prices may be affected by how good YOU look in a bathing suit. So, bargain accordingly.
Here are a few beach pics to give you the flavor. Top two are from the top of the Rio Othon on a cloudy day. (Note: The water is usually pretty placid on Copa but during my trip in March it looked like Waimia Bay..8 to 12 ft waves. Seriously surfable.
Sometimes the girls get into posing mode and treat the beach like a photo shoot. This can be fun.
The beach can be a strange scene. Some of the girls are the most hardened pros and some are relative newcomers or downright amatuers. One can find vacationing girls just trying to make a few bucks for expenses and there are those that are here day in and day out. The attitude on this little strip can be a little aggressive, but it is no real problem to move down the beach a hundred meters and escape most of this vibe. I have rarely taken a girl from the beach, but when I have it had a charming , afternoon delight flavor which I remember form my younger days.

This photo reminds me of an interesting observation. The Brazilian girls frequently wear clothing which hides or minimizes the size of the breasts. Even bathing suit tops will often push the breasts down. I was surprised again and again by the size of the breasts when they were uncovered. This last girl (purple top) had quite large, natural breasts to go with her tight young body although it is hard to tell that from her picture.
If the crowd scene is not to your tastes there are far less populated beaches within fairly easy range (try Barra de Tijuca to the south), but I have no experience with these areas as far as the girls are concerned.
If you miss the girls on the beach…not to worry… they will simply move to the cafes. The best known of these is Meia Petaca located just south of the Hotel Rio Othon entrance.
Afternoons are particularly crowded here and it is a good place to people watch. All the beach girls show up here trying to hook up with some early action. The food is passable (try the chicken soup) and the atmosphere is congenial, if a bit aggressive. Eye contact and a crooked finger are all you should need here although the offer of a drink will be appreciated. Negociate in a friendly (but firm) manner since attendance at this café pegs you as a tourist and therefore a potential easy mark.
There is another café at the north end of the beach (Av. Princessa Isabella) in the Lido district which functions similarly to Meia Petaca, but which goes much later at night. This bistro goes by the name of Mabs and is popular with those frequenting that neighborhood.My experience here is limited so I will say no more.
If it is food you want after your beach visit (or just a more peaceful venue) I recommend the Alcazar two blocks to the south of HELP. Traditionally the beachfront cafes are among the worst choices for food in Rio (one comes for the view),but I have eaten frequently at the Alcazar and have always found it tasty and reliable. (They serve a killer fruit plate which has become my usual breakfast.)
As the evening wears on the crowd moves from Meia Petaca to the café outside of Help. As I have said this is the place to watch the crowd and possibly pick out a companion for the evening. This is the sign on the building just behind the café. I am not sure if the sign refers to the café or not, but you can use it for reference.
I have already discussed this café and Help but they are not where you really want to be in the late afternoon and early evening. There is a much better choice for these times and they are known as the Termas. The Terma is a Rio institution and the world would be a better place if they were everywhere. Part health club, part bar, part disco and part brothel…the terma goes far toward being the best of all worlds. For several reasons I believe the termas are the crown jewel of Rio’s action and I will go into several in some detail.
THE COPACABANA TERMAS
There are two main termas on Copacabana about 6 or 7 blocks apart. The first is Terma L’Uamo. Located on Rua Seguierro Campos on the second floor of a shopping mall devoted primarily to antique furniture stores this was the first terma I ever found and it enjoys a special place in my heart. The mall is located just west of the new( as yet unfinished) Metro station which will extend Metro service deeper into Copa. I remember thinking on my first visit, “Wow, a bordello in a shopping mall. Now THIS is a civilized country.”I make a point of visiting L’Uamo every trip and I have never been unhappy with the level of service they supply. Small by Rio standards, they usually have between 20 and 30 girls working, and, while some of these girls may not be the most beautiful in Rio they have some of the best attitudes. I have had some of the best sex in Rio when I “settled “ on a less than stellar looking girl at L’uamo.

Do not get the idea that L’Uamo is home to only “ordinary” looking girls. Until very recently two of the three sexiest and most beautiful girls in Rio called this club home. One of them, Bia, now works downtown at 65, but the other, Camilla, is still around. Unfortunately I have no pictures of Camilla. I’m not sure any exist. I think the camera melts when she looks at it. Having experienced her look I would not doubt it.
Pictures however are not necessary. Just look for the girl who fits the description of:

Camilla likes to bring another girl along sometimes and this is one of those girls. I had heard that they had had a spat but I never got a chance to confirm it. This is Giselle….Long limbed and slender, she can be very passionate. (Note: the heavy makeup you see in some of the pics is a sideaffect of the dim lighting in the bars of the termas. The makeup is an attempt to compensate. In context it looks quite nice.)

Now this is what Rio women are all about: young, confident, perfect skin, nice breasts and GREAT ASSES. I swear she said she was twenty. I know I didn’t know how to do all those things at 20.
A few more random notes on L’Uamo. The pricing is pretty standard. I do not remember specific numbers but, the entrance fee, a cabina for 40 minutes ,a girl and a few drinks is less than 200R. That’s less than $80 US. One pricing anomaly I did notice is that a suite for an hour with two girls is MORE expensive than two individual hours in suites with one girl at a time. Unless there is some kind of bi-sexual tax it should be less since you only use the suite for half as long.I don’t think other termas do this. Anyway, their prices are clearly stated on a card as you enter and you can make your own choices. L’Uamo is one of the only termas open on Sunday and they serve a free buffet of traditional fare on Sat. They have the best showers in the city and their masseuse is the best I have experienced in a terma. Lots of reasons to recommend it. I love this place.

This Camilla must be some hot ass vixen becuase you guys go on and on about her! Hopefully I will see for myself. I can't wait to hit the termas...sounds like heaven. I have already started to learn portuguese
