I visited San Jose, capital city of Costa Rica, in Dec. 2003. One quality place to visit is the Blue Marlin Bar in Hotel Del Rey in downtown San Jose (Avenida 1, Calle (street) 9.) All the girls there are able to speak good enough English to converse with you. The girls there in my opinion are mostly on scales of 6 through 8 with a couple of 9's 0n a scale of 1 through 10. One thing that was surprising was that alot of Costa Rican people, called Ticos , men, and Ticas, women, have mostly European heredity. I say about 33% of the population are pretty much white. Thus, about half of the girls in Blue Marlin Bar look white. All of the girls will ask for $100, but depending on the quality of the girl, from my experience, the negotiated prices ranged for me, from $30, to $55, to $70. The $30 woman accepted this price I think because she is already 31 years old. She was a 6, with more Euro features. The $55 girl had more Latin-Mestiza features, and was a 7 , at 22 years old. The $70 girl was 23, an 8, and blonde, white. The blue marlin bar has the most expensive girls from my experience mainly because the girls had to work hard to get educated to speak English. You take them to your hotel to have fun. A thing to note though in San Jose, make sure you ask if your hotel charge you extra for visitors, even for an hour. Lots of hotels will charge you anywhere from $8 to $20 more if you take in a friend. All these girls require condoms for intercourse. The first girl blew me without condom.

The next place in my opinion is the best place. It's a bar called IDEM on calle 11 and avenida 10. All the girls there are as beautiful as blue marlin, from scales of 6 to 8s. The fixed price you pay to the cashier is $44 for any girl there. See, there's a bar downstairs, with anywhere from 6-12 girls there. Best time to visit from my experience is around 8 pm. You first observe the girls and pick the one you like. The price is cheaper here because the girls only speak Spanish. But hey, take a few hours to memorize and learn some basic chatty Spanish and you save yourself hundreds of dollars on your vacation if you come here and other places where the girls speak only Spanish. The girls do know some little English. Anyways, once you pick a girl, you pay the cashier, and go to the second floor. There are about 7 rooms here, and the girls first take a shower with you. This is important for me because I like clean girls. The rooms are also clean! So for an hour, you have good fun. One note, you can should bring your own condom cuz if you don't, the maid will ask you 500 colones (about a buck and 15 cents) to buy it from her. I came here 3 times, and girls I picked ranged from 7 to 8, from more white girl to more latin mestiza girl. All girls require condoms for intercourse. The first girl blew me without condom. The last girl agreed for me to give her anal sex. I tipped her $5 more. That was great.

Next are a couple of Spa or Jacuzzi places that charged $50. The first place was called New Fantasy Spa. It's located sround Avenida 9 or 11 and calle 7 or 5. It's around there. Sorry for the general area cuz a cab took me there. Anyways, the place is new and beautiful, clean, nice. You first go in, and there's a one way mirror for you to look at. On the other side are bunch of girls. You pick one, and then she'll go into a good sized, clean shower with you, and then you go in the spa. It's nice to be in a spa, sit her on your lap.......then you go into the room, nice and clean, with a good bed. She'll massage you, and then you party. A good place. When I went, the girl was about a 6. At that time, there weren't other pretty girls, but again, I went there around 6pm. The best place to visit places in san jose is aroung 8pm to 11pm and later.

The next place is a "jacuzzi" place, near avenida 7 and calle central. The madam asked for $65, and I told her New Fantasy charged $65, so she accepted $50. There were only a few girls availabe when I went, again at around 6pm (more girls will show later). But, this girl I picked was very very hot for me. I say a 9. Pettite, tight, little body girl, 20 years old mestiza. There was a shower, but she said she's already cleaned. The room was nice and clean. I had one of the best parties here.

Walk around this area and you will find other nightclubs and brothels catered to local Ticos, so the prices should be pretty low at these other places, I say around $15 to $20. I found this out cuz I went in these local brothels to find out. I didn't have sex cuz I just got done partying at the "jacuzzi" (the madame didn't turn on the jacuzzi by the way.)


Next place I definitely recommend is the Pink Panther Nightclub (the name will be Pink Panther in spanish on the sign.) It's at calle 9 and avenida 14 and 16, look for it.) I recommend it because you get in for about 2000 colones or about 5 bucks, and you get 3 drinks, alcohol or juices. Then you get to enjoy a strip show (it's like any other U.S. strip bar,) where one by one, a girl will go on stage and strip. The only difference here in costa rica is that if you like a stripper, go to the bartender and pay the fee and then you can have sex with that stripper in a private room. There were around 15 girls there when I went around 9pm on a weekend. Most girls ranged from 6 to 8's with a couple of 9's. And the fee is only $26. Why such a good price for a girl? Again, girls only speak spanish, and the room isn't too clean or big. I was stuck in a little room with only a couch. I heard from the girl though that there's a bigger room with a bed, so request that room if you go here. Well, my girl waa about a 7, and wshe pretty much looked like Katie Holmes of Dawson's Creek. Imagine having sex with Katie Holmes for only $26! I recommend this place cuz the price is really good, and lots of pretty girls are here.

The next place is called Miss Caribe at Calle 2 and about Avenida 8 or 10. It's a bar, and there were some girls there, about 5. The one I picked was around a 6, sweet looking mestiza. Only $20. The downside to these places is that the rooms are super gross and dirty, so it's a turn off. But if you like dirty sex and no showere, go for it. She freely blew me and for her, condom is not required if you don't want to strap it on. I liked her a lot and went back for her the next day. But I didn't like the dirty rooms.

Another place is a night club next to Best Western hotel at avenida 7 and calle 8. You pay 2000 colones to get in with one drink, and the girls cost $16. When I went, only 5 girls were there, with one girl decent at a 6. I picked her, (Euro brunette type), went upstairs for sex. The room was filthy, with a big wet spot on the bed from a leaky roof (I hope), the windows were broken, and cold breeze was blowing in. Dirty place, and I did not enjoy it, we did it, and it's like we are performing a sex show for the people walking the sidewalks outside down there cuz they could see us. Not a good party. Well, anyways, if you go to local brothels, bars, night clubs that cater to local men with very affordable price girls, expect dirty dirty dirty run down disgusting rooms.

The two other places I went to are super cheap, located at around avenida 9 and calle 3 (somewhere around there.) These 2 places are next door to each other. Names are called VIP ad aomething else. Anyways, you go in, and the girls there are about 4 to 5's. They look a bit older too, like in there 30's (The other places I mentioned by the way, the girls are early 20's.) Well, one lady I partied with only costed $14. Another day, I didn't want to spend too much money, so I came back here, went next door, and the price was $12.50. YOu have to party fast though, at 20 minutes here.

Overall, a great place to go if you want variety of women at great prices, and airplane only costed me $420 round trip from L.A., california in Dec.

As for girls on the street at night.....I stayed at an apartment around avenida 14 and calle 7, there's girls standing on corners near my apartment. I was curious and walked up to them a couple of nights, but I was wondering why are they working on streets and not in the numerous brothels, bars, and night clubs......guess what, they look like transvestites. Their voices are lower......For me, I don't like this, but for other guys this might be a rush. Be careful though, they might be robbers, so you should go to them in a group or with a buddy. Another place where "girl" or transvestites stand around corners is to the west of Hotel Del Rey, the first place I mentioned.

I lived in San Jose for seven months and you named a few places I never visited. Many of the street girls are transvestites and some try to pick pocket you. I was never tempted in the least.

If you don't have a place to stay cklose by, you take the Del Rey girls to Hotel Asia (less than 100 meters from the door) and rent a room for 3000 colones. So you do your $30 to $70 pricess in a dark, shabby but clean room.

My favorite Tico priced brotherals are 70E (Avenida 7, Calle 0/1), 747 and the pink house next to it on Calle 4, Avenida 7/9. I think the best mid range values are the IDEM, Lucy's acrposs the street from it) and Arte y Sauna when you get a massage and steam room for your $40.

Thanks for taking the time to post this updated information. I'm going there next week and it was nice to read. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn which I hear is the nicest hotel close to the action. Only thing that sucks is they charge $20 per chica. Oh well.

Authorities are using a heavy hand on night clubs and massage parlors,
raiding locations and shutting them down for licensing violations. The
Municipality of San José is being aggressive in it's commitment to the
prestigious and established community of Barrio Amon and surround areas.

Yesterday, in two separate, but related, incidents officials raided the New
Fantasy massage parlor in Barrio Amon and the newly opened Atlantis night
club in La Uruca.
Atlantis had opened it's doors for the first time on Thursday night. A visit
to the night spot was greeted by a sign on the front gate "Cerrado Hoy" and
when asked, the security guard told a story of electrical problems forcing
the club to close indefinetely.

The New Fantasy massage parlor is located in Barrio Amon and residents and
community leaders have been up in arms over the past year over the opening
of another massage parlor in the community and the transvestites who have
overtaken the streets at night
Johnny Araya, mayor or San José, has promised a clean up of the area and is
using licensing and other municipal code issues to close or at least
temporarily disrupt those businesses in the area.

In the case of New Fantasy, municipal officials claim that the locale was
using a license to host guests and not offer sexual services. In the case of
Atlantis, they fall 5 meters short of a law that pretends to move
establishments that offer the sale liquor to 400 meters from schools, parks
and churches.

Atlantis, according to municipal officials' calculations is only 395 meters
from the nearby sports park in La Uruca

Great report, I'm making my first trip to CR this November. Nice to hear about inexpensive places. I have one question for all of you experienced mongers, If I take a girl from one of these inexpensive bars will they go back to my hotel room? Or do the have to stay at their bar. Also with IDEM could I take one back to my hotel room. Thanks for any advice, i'm still a newbie to CR.
