Leaving the Beach

Within easy reach of Copacabana is another fairly well known Terma know as Solarium.

Solarium is found in the Jardin do Botanico section, across the lake from Ipenema. Most cab drivers will know where it is and they have a website. Solarium is owned by the same people who own Monte Carlo, but they have different managers, and rumor has it that they do not get along. I can understand this as the manager at Monte Carlo bends over backwards to please his customers and the management of Solarium can be problematic. In an effort to be fair I will deal with the good points of the club before I detail my problems with them. Solarium is a nice club in a lovely neighborhood surrounded by charming cafes and good restaurants. The neighborhood is worth a visit if for no other reason than to take a walk by the lake. The view is wonderful and this strikes me as a nice area to have an apartment if one were spending an extended period in town. It is close to the Botanical gardens which are definitely worth a visit. The receptionist/manager of the club is quite beautiful and speaks good English. The locker room, showers, sauna, steam and massage are all on the first floor, with the bar on the second, and the cabinas above. The facilities are basic and there is only one hot shower for the entire club. Some might consider this petty, but I find this annoying...an unforgivable and unnecessary oversight in a club of this caliber. It becomes a problem whenever the club is busy at all or on Wed or Sun nights when they have "mixed sauna". These are evenings when men can bring their wives or girlfriends into the club to play. I assume that there is some group action or voyeurism going on, but I have never entered in and I do not know the details. What I do know is that these "wives" use the same shower facilities as the male customers and this further clogs the system. If I wanted to share a bathroom with women I wouldn't need to go to a brothel to do it.. I have also run into the situation in which a man thought it was a good idea to fuck his wife in the one available shower leaving a line of customers without facilities. Like I said, a minor point, but an annoyance.

The boite is somewhat better. The bar itself is small and it is difficult to get a drink when the club is busy, but the arrangement lends itself to good viewing of the girls. To be fair there is usually a good selection here and a good variety. The girls dance quite a bit and keep circulating. I have had some indifferent experiences here, but most of the girls are friendly and skilled. On past trips they seemed very camera unfriendly, but this seems to have changed. It's probably a matter of the individual girls at any rate. A few of the girls seemed very young this trip and I found that appealing. Actually, I was with a friend who had been in earlier in the week and he wanted to try a new girl. I took the bullet and stepped in for the first girl freeing him up for the newbie. Later I came back for the one he did second so it didn't really matter. Both these girls claimed to be over 20 but I had a hard time believing it. Enthusiastic but gentle, they both provided fuel for the persistent high school fantasy I keep rolling in the back of my mind. (I apologize for the quality of these first two photos. Sometimes I find myself attracted to girls who remind me of former lovers or to girls who "got away" at some earlier point in my life. It's almost as if I were trying to fix some error or lost opportunity in the past. There is probably some complicated psychological/karmic explanation for this...I just know I enjoy it.

I also ran into an old favorite of mine from an earlier trip and I was flattered that she remembered me even though I had not seen her in over a year. Unfortunately, she had indulged in a silicone breast enhancement in the interim, and she was surprised to find that I did not approve. I don't think that possibility had ever occurred to her. I found the whole breast enhancement question a little depressing. I hope this is not another example of a polluting trend inspired by Americans.

In her defense, she was a great worker and loads of fun. It's just another example of how high Rio raises your standards that I would refuse such a beautiful young girl on such grounds.

For those of you who like silicon I can highly recommend her skills.

However, the prize of the evening came as a surprise. She looked like the stereotypical Playboy girl. Not the usual type I go for. Perhaps a little older than I usually choose (28), for some reason she did not show up on my radar immediately. I had been sitting around for a while, trying to make up my mind, when she started a subtle flirtation. She got me when she started sucking my fingers and I decided to test that gag reflex.. Intuitively I knew 40 min. would not be enough so I requested a suite for an hour. No suite was available so I suggested an hour in a cabina. My girl indicated we could do this following a conversation (which I could not understand) with the attendant. I gathered that it had something to do with changing rooms at some point. I really didn't care as long as I had ample time to explore my young lovely. And explore I did. This girl was a ten in virtually every way. She had the softest, smoothest skin imaginable and her skills matched her beauty. No gag reflex and her anal was as enthusiastic as her vaginal. Highly orgasmic and loads of fun. The only problem came when we got a phone call at the 20 min mark and we hurriedly switched rooms. I must have appeared rather comical running through the halls with my robe in my hands and my erection swinging in the breeze. I'm glad we did the hour since it took that long to touch on all the things she wanted to do. Either she was a ten or so close to it that it makes no difference. Try this photo on for size. And remember...this is a terma I do not particularly like. The problem is not with the girls: the problem is with the management.

When I went to check out I found that I had been charged for three girls in three cabinas. I explained that I had only had two girls...one for an hour and one for 40 min. The management admitted that I was being overcharged but insisted that the problem came from something the girls had done. She explained that she could fix the problem but that it would result in the girls getting in trouble and probably being fired. This sounded like a bluff, but I had just had a great session and I did not want to cause difficulties for the girls. I did however resent the club using my warm feelings for the girls to back me down. The manager insisted that she did not have the power to help me. I offered what seemed to me a good compromise. I offered to pay the 50R which they had overcharged me without complaint in exchange for a complimentary entrance on my next visit.. That way they would be insured that I would return and spend more money. No dice. She still claimed she had no authority. To add insult to injury, this price problem had put me over the top with my available Real supply. When I tried to pay in dollars she informed me that they would only give me 1.8 R to the dollar... this on a day when I had gotten 2.4 at a cambio. Termas used to be one of the best places to change dollars. This is changing in general, but nothing like this outright gouge.This is just bad customer relations. There are simply too many good venues in Rio for me to patronize those that treat me badly. I'm not alone in this. I have heard reports form others to the effect that Solarium is not interested in our tourist money and they wish we would stay in Copa. Happy to oblige.

While I'm bitching I have to bring up the subject of Centaurus. For years, Centaurus has enjoyed the reputation of having the most beautiful girls of any terma in Rio. They are located in Ipenema and the club is very nice by all accounts. I have personally never been there since more friends than I can count have told me what a rip off the place is. They insist on a 250R payment when you enter the club and you pay this whether you have sex or not. Drinks are expensive and the prices are well above the other termas in every area. They have even been known to charge a "tourist tax" to non locals and commission payments to cab driver/ touts are added to ones bill. Understand that all this information is second hand, but, virtually everyone says the same thing ,and I do not feel like paying just to confirm the bad experiences of others .I would love it if someone could report that Centaurus had become friendly and reasonable, but, until that happens, I will avoid the place. Besides, there are better clubs downtown. Next stop...Rio Antigo.

good report! Who wants that hassle? You had a great session and then some manager ruins by try to work you for x-tra real. Looks like I might avoid this place...but the high school fantasy makes me want to go!!!
