Tuesday Night, January 20
The Thai Air flight left on time from Manila and was about half full. The seat next to me was empty, so I raised up the armrest and got comfortable. I started sleeping before we even took off. My motto is when you're on the ground stay awake and when you're in the air, sleep. AC took a lot out of me in a good way, so it was important to refuel so I could hit the ground running in Bangkok.
My plan was to spend two nights in Bangkok and two nights in Pattaya before heading to Hong Kong, so I didn't want to waste any time, plus since I took a much later flight out of Manila than had planned - I wouldn't even hit Nana Plaza until midnight.
On my last trip, things took a bad turn with my then fav Nat, but on the last night I barfined Nueng out of Angel Witch and had a really good time with her. She hadn't worked in the bar for very long, and had a quiet innocence about her that really turned me on. I hadn't kept in touch with her since I was last in Bangkok, almost 5 months, although she had given me her cell number. I tried the number from the airport in Manila, but it didn't go through.
We landed in Bangkok at 10:30pm and in no time I had my bags and cleared immigration/customs. The hotel said to make a left once entering the Arrival Hall and look for a sign with my name on it. This was my 4th trip to Bangkok and the hotel airport pick-up managed to get screwed up the first 3 times, so I really wasn't expecting the driver to be there. But lo and behold, as soon as I turned left, I saw a guy in a suit holding a sign with my name on it. Beautiful! He grabbed the cart and headed towards the exit. It turns out he was a concierge, not the driver, so he had me wait inside while he got the driver to bring the car around. I took advantage of this time-out to hit the ATM machine and grab some Baht. I headed back towards the door and the concierge pushed the cart through the door and put the bags in the trunk of the waiting car. I then entered the car, sat back and got ready for the ride into town.
On the drive over, I tried to communicate to the driver that I'd like to use his cell phone to get in touch with Nueng. But he showed me his phone and the battery was dead. So I would have to wait until I got to the hotel to make the call. The trip into town was fast, only about 20 minutes 'til we hit Sukhumvit and traffic was surprisingly light on the way to Soi 11. We made the left on Soi 11 and took it all the way down, then a right and a quick left and we were at the President Solitaire driveway. No sooner did the car come to a halt, two doormen rushed out to grab the bags and usher me to the check-in desk. There are two desks and one was occupied with two guests checking out. It was about 11:30pm and I really wanted to get to the room, take a shower and hit Nana, so the check-in process probably seemed to take longer than it did. They had a trainee try to check me in, but he didn't even understand the concept of making an imprint of my credit card. I asked him if there was a phone I could use to make a local call and he said, albeit very politely, that I could make calls once in was in my suite! So 15 minutes later, everything was in order and I was led by the trainee up to the suite on the 12th floor. The President Solitaire has rooms up to the 12th floor and the Penthouse Suites are on 13.
He basically said here is your room and left! Not a big deal, but I didn't know where any of the switches were for the a/c or lights (as it turns out they are all on a master control box by the bed). So I quickly unpacked and hit the shower. The suite was as I expected - totally first class. The foyer had great closet space and opened onto the bedroom, replete with a four-poster bed and 42-inch plasma screen TV. The living room/study was equally well-appointed, with its own TV and work desk as well as a couch and a couple of chairs. The bathroom was superb, with a full-sized Jacuzzi and plenty of fluffy towels. There was also a small kitchenette, with a table and chairs and cookies laid out for my arrival. The suite was all I had hoped it would be, and at $90 a night, a great deal. If this suite was available in AC, I'd include AC on every trip to the South East Asia.
I tried calling Nueng from the phone in the suite, but they hadn't turned the phone on yet! I just was not going to be able to make that call.
I quickly showered and changed: while I wore nothing but shorts and a nice shirt in AC, I've always worn dress slacks, polished shoes and a nice shirt when going out for the evening in Bangkok - just a personal preference, though I'm hardly the only one dressed that way in the bars.
So I make my way over to the elevators, and here's my only complaint about the PS - they have 2 elevators and they are as small as they are slow. It's such a great place with such mediocre elevators! Reminds me of the FlatIron Building at 23rd & Fifth Avenue: beautiful building from the 1920s, with the slowest elevators I've ever been on (they're the original water-powered elevators from the 1920s, but I digress). I finally get down to the lobby and a doorman asks me where I'm going, then runs out to the street and gets me a cab, while giving the destination to the driver in Thai. I gave the doorman 20 baht and was on my way.
One of the nice things about the location of the PS is that there is a connecting street that runs from Soi 11 to Soi 3 - and there's never any traffic on it! This way you can avoid Sukhumvit if you're going to Nana. I remember on past trips when the traffic was really bad some drivers would actually turn off Sukhumvit and take this "shortcut" when the traffic towards Nana was really bad - so for my money, the PS is perfectly situated.
I jump out of the cab at Soi 3 and Sukhumvit and walk across the intersection. Even though it's my 4th trip, I still get excited walking up to Nana Plaza. There are tons of girls all over the place - plus all of the usual food stalls and rush of traffic. I hope this place always generates the same excitement for me.
In no time at all I'm walking up the left-side staircase towards the 2nd level and Angel Witch. I pass through the curtains and the place is jammed - I'm given a seat right in front of the stage, near the entrance. Before I can even order a drink and ask the waitress if Nueng is working, she appears out of nowhere and jumps in my lap. In August I told her I would be back this week as I planned to do the big 4-0 in style. Coincidentally, she turned the big 2-0 the following day.
She kept saying she knew that I was going to show up, that she had been watching the door for the past few nights waiting for me to come in.
The only problem was, she was in street clothes as an Austrian guy said he was going to BF her and another girl, but she wasn't sure because he comes in all the time then never actually goes through with the BF. She went to talk to him and he said if I paid him 1,000 baht I could have her and he would pay the BF out of the 1,000 (500 profit for him, probably his most exciting night in Bangkok, and the first time he actually "paid" a BF).
I said no problem and handed Nueng 1,000 baht - I never even got a look at the guy. I 'm feeling pretty good now, the search for the night is over, so I relax and look at the girls on stage. There really is a lot of talent at AW - many girls that I could have barfined had Nueng not been there. Nueng kept asking what would I have done if she wasn't there? I told her I would have had to barfine someone else, but I'm glad it worked out this way.
Nueng then introduces me to her younger sister (18) who just started worked at AW a couple of weeks ago. She is appropriately named Bang and is the total opposite of Nueng - this girl is just like Nat of Long Gun, bouncing around with tons of energy - you could tell she was trouble.
I ask if Bang wants to join us, and she readily agrees. I leave with the two sisters, realizing that I hadn't paid for Bang's BF, but she said she just wanted to leave, I didn't have to pay! It was about 1:00am at this point, so I don't know how kosher that was, but no one got in any trouble over it.
We caught a cab and I told the girls that I needed to grab some food. I told Nueng to choose the place - that I wanted some good Thai food. She says she knows a place and 15 minutes later we are at MY FAVORITE seafood place Ratchada! (I never mentioned this place to her - she was surprised I knew about it).
I didn't realize that this place serves food until 5:00am, so no problem getting served. I ordered too much food as always and apparently chose some very expensive dishes like lobster, which is no bargain in Bangkok. The price per pound is app. $13, in New York it ranges from $10 - $20 depending on the place. The total bill for 3 was 5,800 baht, which I thought was pretty expensive, considering I've eaten there before and paid half that for 5 people. But that's what you get when you choose from a menu with no prices. It was still a great meal.
Feeling sated, we got a cab back to the hotel, stopping at the 7-11 on Soi 11 for some beverages and snacks for the room. It's always a good idea to pick up Wine Coolers - these girls love the pink and blue "Spy" crap - of course I thought drinking Boone's Farm wine was cool when I was in high school.
We then walked the 250 yards to the hotel. The night security guard asked Nueng and Bang for their respective ID cards and then we made our way up to the suite.
We each took separate showers and then sat on the couch watching TV. I sort of wish the big plasma screen TV was in the living room instead of the bedroom, as I never really watched TV in the bedroom (I was busy making my own entertainment!)
As happened the last time, I had to initiate all of the action, Nueng is a very shy/inexperienced girl or a really good actress. Either way, I had to take the lead, which was fine with me. Bang was oblivious to the two of us - too busy watching TV and downing wine coolers, but Nueng felt a bit awkward, so we retired to the bedroom. That's the nice thing about a suite - everyone is comfortable and can do their own thing.
The session with Nueng was long and slow; she's a really small girl so I couldn't just jam it in there and get going. And Nueng isn't a "jam it in" type girl. The session was very passionate and lasted about 90 minutes, which for me is great, since my attention span for anything is usually 30 minutes tops. I lay back on the bed while Nueng took a shower, then about 15 minutes later I heard her talking to Bang so I made my way to the bathroom and cleaned up.
When I got out of the bathroom, Bang was alone on the couch - Nueng had retired to the bedroom. Not one to miss an opportunity, I sat down next to Bang, who was watching MTV. Thank God they play Linkin Park every 10 minutes - we quickly had something to talk about. She seemed skeptical that I would like Linkin Park, so I walked over to the desk where my iPod was recharging, brought it over and showed her that I had the Meteora album downloaded. She put the headphones on and I showed her how to crank it up. I opened up my robe and she took my cue to straddle me. Then it hit me. No condom. I had some in the bedroom and thankfully some in the bathroom. I ran to the bathroom, grabbed six and then headed back to the couch. We resumed the straddle position and it again took a while to get in as Bang is even smaller than Nueng. We then had a real nice rhythm going and I popped in about 3 minutes. Total opposite from my session an hour ago with her sister. I went back to the bathroom and cleaned up and when I returned, Bang will still bopping to Linkin Park. I said goodnight and joined Nueng, who was fast asleep, in the bedroom. It was about 5:00am and I was spent.

Wednesday, January 21
We woke up around 10:00am - I could have slept more, but I really wanted to see Bangkok. In my first three trips I'm embarrassed to say that I hadn't been to one temple. Today, not only were we going to a temple, but Nueng said she would ask the monk to give me a special birthday blessing. Heck, I can use all the help I can get.
We cleaned up and got dressed and Bang eventually took a shower and got dressed as well. The three of us went to the mezzanine level, which houses one of the restaurants. (There is one on the main level, but I think it was being renovated)
The breakfast buffet is very good here: they have all types of Western and Eastern items laid out and they take requests for the kitchen - it's all included. The girls filled up their plates and really enjoyed the food. I was then presented with a bill for 600 baht - my breakfast was free. A bit pricey, but it is very good and convenient.
Downstairs, Bang went off to wherever she went off to and Nueng and I went to the MBK Mall. I was going to finally get a working Thai cell phone (or SIM card). We went to one of the many booths and Nueng explained what I was looking for. I had the phone I bought in AC with me and had the clerk put in the SIM card, which didn't work. She then tried another one and Bingo! I was in business. For those wanting to buy a cell phone that works in the PI and Thailand, I purchased a used Nokia 5110 (including new battery & charger + "Buddy" card with 150P load) at the Savers Mall in AC for 1,800 Pisos ($32). This works perfectly with a DTAC SIM card (600 baht ($15) including number and airtime) in Thailand. So the total cost for a phone with PI and Thai SIM cards was ($47) to me a great value.
We checked out the films that were showing upstairs, but nothing really appealed to me/or the timing wasn't right. There are some unreal cinemas in Bangkok - it's a real treat seeing a film there.
We then went downstairs and took a taxi to Wat Po. The place is really amazing, very spread out. You really can't describe it - it's something that needs to be seen in person. We made our way to one of the buildings (several are closed to the public) and bought some flowers to be offered on the way in. We walked into the temple and were greeted by a very friendly monk. Nueng knelt down and said her prayer and then introduced me to the monk who gave me a blessing. The whole thing took about 15 minutes, but left a really good impression.
We took another taxi and I'm not sure where we were going - I think to another temple or historical site. We were cruising along Sukhumvit with the Sois climbing into the 50s when traffic ground to a halt. Plus the only rain of the trip starting coming down. It took an hour to get from Soi 50 to Soi 70, so we decided to turn around. It was around 4:00pm and we hadn't had lunch, and Nueng had mentioned she wanted to get her hair cut, so I told the driver to go to Soi 16.
On my last trip to Bangkok, I stayed at the Somerset Lake Point on Soi 16. I found several nice spots there, including a nice restaurant, massage place and beauty salon. That's where we were headed to.
Traffic wasn't so bad coming the other way on Sukhumvit, so we made it to Soi 16 in about 15 minutes. The taxi pulled into the parking lot of Kuppa, this really good restaurant whose menu is all over the place, but it works. I had a roasted pork dish that I remembered one of my barfines ordering from the last trip and Nueng ordered noodles. The meal was quick and delicious.
We then went across the street to the Arena Beauty Salon (152 Soi 16). I got the full treatment here the last time, but since I had just gotten a haircut in AC, I opted for everything but that, while Nueng had her hair cut. I think this is a great place to hang out. It's not like one of those shops along Sukhumvit with the cute uniformed girls who work on you. This is strictly a place for Thai's. I've seen some incredible looking girls/women getting there hair done in this place - and I get the same reaction from each - they look at me and laugh. The girls working on me weren't the same as the last time and weren't as hot, but the owner, Mahuttida Boonyarut is this incredibly hot 30ish woman who just turns me on to no end. She was the one who cut Nueng's hair. We were there for a good 90 minutes, in which time I got a foot massage, facial, manicure, pedicure and shave. That, plus Nueng's haircut came to 1,250 baht ($32). You can get cheaper, but not better, IMHO.
We headed back to the hotel and fooled around, then rested up. The plan for the evening was to go to Chinatown for the first night of the Chinese New Year.
We stopped by Angel Witch to pay Nueng's barfine and on a whim I paid for Bang to join us as well. Of course then Nueng asked if I wouldn't mind barfining one of her friends, so as I like an entourage, I agreed. I can't remember her friend's name, but she was very quiet and pleasant.
We took a taxi over to the edge of Chinatown and the streets were a virtual mob scene. Everyone was out to celebrate the New Year. It was packed with people and vendors; everyone was spilling out into the streets.
We found a few vacant chairs at this one sidewalk vendor who was selling noodles and we placed an order but 30 minutes later we still hadn't been served. People who arrived after us, ordered, were served and left. So at my instigation, we took off down a side street and found this restaurant that turned out to be a gem. It was four levels, going up these rickety stairs and it was air-conditioned. We ordered from the extensive menu and they brought out one perfect dish after another. We sat and talked and ate for about an hour and a half, having a great time. When the check came, it was an amazing 1,200 baht, a quarter of what Ratchada had cost. I know these are two different places, but I may have seen the last of Ratchada.
We then walked around some more, taking in the sights. Eventually we hailed a taxi and we all went back to the hotel. I started to come down with a cough that I think I caught from Christy in AC. Anyway I wasn't feeling great so I welcomed the return back to the hotel, with my entourage in tow. All three girls left their IDs with the guard and we went upstairs.
While the girls sat on the couch watching TV, I took a shower and got ready to turn in. Nueng quickly joined me and I thought about initiating a session, but I was worn out and not feeling great. Better to get a good night's rest.

Thursday, January 22
I woke up around 9:00am and immediately ran to the bathroom. I spent the next 15 minutes violently coughing up mucus and whatever else was in my lungs. I was coughing so violently that blood was coming up. Not the best start to the day. This frightened the girls who thought I was dying. Once I got everything out of my system, I felt ok, if not a little light-headed. I took a shower and got dressed.
Today was Nueng's 20th birthday and she was beaming with delight. I had been on the fence about going to Pattaya, where I had reserved a suite at the Sandy Springs Hotel. I was supposed to meet Sandman at 5:00pm at the airport and drive down with him to Pattaya, where we were to meet up with Epi and Blazers. My flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong was scheduled to leave at 8:25am on Saturday, so I would only have 36 hours in Pattaya. While that is certainly enough time to do damage, I wasn't looking forward to two long car rides in that short a period, plus not feeling great. Add to that Nueng really wanted me to go to her parents home for her birthday celebration and I decided to call downstairs to see if I could stay another 2 nights. "No problem, Mr. Wallstreet, stay as long as you wish." So that was that.
I told Nueng that I was staying until Saturday and she was thrilled. Regardless of the reason that she was thrilled (i.e. there would now be someone to foot her entire birthday celebration bill) it's nice to be wanted and made to feel special, something the Thai girls are very good at doing.
Nueng suggested I see a doctor, but I told her let's see what happens tomorrow morning.
So everyone got showered and dressed and by this time it was almost 10:30. We were all ready for breakfast and I suggested ordering room service as I wasn't sure how well received the four of us would be in the public and conservative dining room. I suggested this more for the girls than for me - if I get dirty looks from some 50-year-old cow it actually makes my day. But they really enjoyed the breakfast buffet the day before so we all went down to the dining room.
As soon as we walked in, all eyes were on the girls. You could feel the cold vibe in the room. We sat at a table away from the main dining room, towards the outdoor patio. One of the girls mentioned that people kept looking over at us, so we moved to a table outside on the patio. Thankfully it wasn't too hot outside, so we were able to enjoy the breakfast. My advice is one or two Thai girls will pass, but three is pushing the limit. Eat elsewhere or order room service. No one said anything directly to me, but the message was clear.
We then went downstairs and the birthday shopping spree began. We went to one of the supermarkets to buy some items, like whiskey and tequila, about 1,200 baht, not too bad.
We then went to a part of town that I had never been in, where there was a great food market. It was going towards the airport and there was not one westerner in sight. When I asked Nueng where all the farangs were, she just laughed and said - oh, they don't come here. We went to shops that had every type of food imaginable and the sights and smells were amazing. We bought plenty of calamari, noodles and I don't remember what else, but it was dirt cheap.
Finally, we put all of the bags into a taxi and made our way towards the airport, where Nueng's parents house is.
We pulled into the driveway and it wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting. It was a two-level home in a row of similar homes. There wasn't any air conditioning, but it wasn't terribly hot and the circulation throughout the house was great. Nueng introduced me to various relatives who kept coming and coming. The atmosphere was already festive and the first beer hadn't been opened. Well, that's because we hadn't bought any beer, so off we went with one of Nueng's brothers to the local Carrefour. I'm a food fanatic and the one thing I don't like about Manhattan is the small supermarkets. Well, this was one of the biggest supermarkets I've ever seen, just row after row of items. I could have spent the day in the place, checking out items and prices.
We stopped at the seafood department and picked up some shrimp and a few fish. Everything looked fresh and thought the prices were pretty reasonable. Then over to the beer aisle, where we picked up a couple of cases of Singha Gold.
Off to the check out counter and the damage wasn't too bad - this bill brought the entire days' total to about 5,000 baht, and Nueng was quick to point out that 5,000 baht with her buys food and drinks for 30 people, but I spent 5,800 baht for dinner for 3 at Ratchada, so today's spending was actually a very good deal. Well, you can't argue with that logic.
Back on the home front, many more people had arrived and the place was getting full. I was given a seat of honor on the couch, with my own personal desk for eating and drinking. The grilled calamari with hot sauce was awesome. The mother made a big batch of Som Tom, scooping out a spicy portion for me, before adding even more spice for everyone else.
The party was in full swing with kids running around and everyone eating and drinking. For a reason I didn't understand, Nueng's father was delayed elsewhere and would be home around 7:00pm.
It was coming up on 4:00pm and the plan was for me to go to the airport with one of Nueng's brothers, who was also a taxi driver, and meet Sandman. I wanted to tell him in person that I wasn't going to be able to make it, and I had struck a deal with the brother to drive Sandman to Pattaya for which I paid 1,000 baht, including tolls. I figured since I was backing out at the last minute, the least I could do was pay for the taxi.
Nueng and her friend insisted on accompanying me and her brother to the airport, even though I told her I didn't expect her to leave her own party. So off we went to the airport, only 2 miles and 45 minutes away. The traffic was so bad on one road, everyone was turning around. We pulled up to the arrival hall right at 5:00pm, and I made my way to the exit to the right of the entrance. Then I looked up at the board and saw the flight hadn't landed yet. As confirmed later by Sandman, the plane was put in a holding pattern for an hour and landed around 6:00pm. I waited until 7:30pm and then figured I had missed Sandman, so we headed back to Nueng's house (Sandman later told me it took him over two hours to clear customs - had I waited until 8:00pm, I would have met him - he still hadn't exited and I thought I had missed him).
So we walked to the garage and Nueng's brother drove us back to the house. I gave him 500 baht for his trouble - he did wait with the car for almost three hours.
The party was in full swing by now. Nueng's father had arrived. I was impressed with the guy - he's 65 and has 10 kids ranging in age from 12 to 30, plus whatever bastards he has running around the streets of Bangkok. With his zero English and my zero Thai our conversation was brief.
There were about a dozen people playing cards on the floor - and everybody had their money out. After a few minutes they called me over to join in. So there I am sitting on the floor with a dozen Thais, betting 100 baht and I have no idea what game they're playing. I think it's blackjack and on the first hand I get dealt a 7 and a 4. So I spend the next 5 minutes asking if I can double down. Of course they're looking at me like I'm a nut and the conversation between them probably went something like this - "yeah, he's retarded for sure, but he paid for everything and we might have to make another beer run, so just humor him." Anyway, they gave me another card, a ten and I was really happy so now they were convinced I was retarded because we were playing baccarat and I had the second worse hand you could have. Down a hundred.
Well I had never played baccarat, but I knew the gist of it - actually, everything is predetermined - it's pure luck, no skill. I desperately wanted a picture of me playing with these guys - money and beer bottles all over the place. But they said no pictures allowed - they could get in trouble. Long story short, I played for about an hour and was up 2,000 baht. One of Nueng's uncles was backing every one of my plays @ 1,000 baht a shot - he must have been up 20,000 baht. That'll teach 'em to refuse me a photo opportunity!
We said our goodbyes and headed into town - me, Nueng, Nueng's friend, Bang and Bang's boyfriend. We needed to stop by the bar to pay the barfine, but Bang's boyfriend didn't know they worked at the bar, so everyone was dropped off on Sukhumvit and Soi 4 and Bang went with her boyfriend in one direction and the three of us went towards Nana Plaza.
The stop at Angel Witch was relatively painless - a couple of drinks, paid the barfines and then headed out the door. The plan was to go across town to Patpong, where Bang and her boyfriend would meet us. While we were in the bar, one of Bang's farang boyfriends, "Steve" called Nueng, desperate to speak to Bang, who wasn't returning his phone calls. Nueng relayed the whole conversation to me. Steve wanted badly to marry 18 year-old Bang. He came to that decision after barfining Bang. Twice. Bang didn't string him along - she basically laughed in his face and said you gotta be kidding, but Steve won't take no for an answer. Now Bang won't answer her cell, so he tries to get to her through Nueng. It would be funny if it wasn't pathetic. Steve: if by any chance you are reading this (how many Steve's could be going out with Bang's?): LET IT GO. Not only is this girl not interested, she HAS TWO THAI BOYFRIENDS (MORE ON THE 2ND ONE IN A LITTLE BIT). O.k. - enough about Steve; let's move on with the story.
30 minutes later we were in Patpong, an area of Bangkok I had never been in. There's a lot of tourists here shopping at the various stalls that make up the night market and quite a few bars, whose names I recognized from reading past reports on CH. We met up with Bang and her boyfriend and then walked down an alleyway with bars on either side. We went into a nondescript building and took the elevator up to the fourth floor. The elevator opened onto this big, dark space that housed a Karaoke bar. The place had a real laid back and hip vibe. Thankfully no one was singing yet, just enjoying the videos onscreen. They played only Thai videos, none of the foreign pop stuff you here in the go-gos.
I was introduced to the owner, an acquaintance of Nueng's. He gave her a free bottle of whiskey for her birthday, so glasses were brought out and the party was started. I guess somewhere along the line, the bottle ran out, but the drinks kept flowing. I was staying on iced teas because my throat was killing me at that time. We ordered some snacks and I asked Nueng to order something for me not spicy as my throat was very sore - the menu was in Thai only so I had no idea what they had. They brought out a nice assortment of food and put a bowl of fish soup in front of me. Of course it was one of the spiciest soups I've ever had - it tasted great, but did nothing to sooth my throat. At some point Bang's second boyfriend joined the party. Man, that girl gets a lot of attention! (Are you paying attention, Steve?)
We ate and drank and the girls sang some songs and then it was about 1:00am, time to head out. Nueng said there was going to be a cake for her at her bar so we had to get going. The bill came to about 4,000 baht, not as bad as I thought given the amount of time we spent there. So we split up again, Bang and her boyfriends went in one direction, Nueng's friend went in another and we headed over to Angel Witch.
It was almost 1:30 when we got there - they had a cake ready and everyone was in a festive mood. I probably didn't set a record or anything, but I bought 4,000 baht worth of lady drinks in 30 minutes. The checks were hitting the cup at record speed. I enjoy being a big spender and I was given ample opportunity to prove it on this day.
At 2:00am the lights came on and everyone bolted for the door. Bangkok's finest were on the prowl and they wanted everyone to hit the bricks. I was happy to lead the charge.
We headed back to the hotel and I remembered earlier Nueng remarking how she always wanted to go to the Q Bar, which is 200 yards from the President Solitaire, but she couldn't get in because she was only 19. So we hit the Q Bar for one last drink. The place is pretty amazing, really well-appointed and they have an incredible selection of drinks. It's pricy - like 300 baht a drink, but I spent less here than I did anywhere else that night. The music was great and the vibe was superb - lot's of fine Thai girls hanging out. It was about 3:00am when we left (I thought all bars closed at 2:00am?) and headed over to the hotel. I was exhausted and really not feeling well - I just went straight to bed. The last thing I remember was Nueng throwing up in the bathroom, all that alcohol going to waste.

I woke up at about 9:00am and repeated the same 15 minute hacking routine as the morning before. Nueng was still passed out on the bed, so I didn't wake her when I decided to go to Bumrungrad Hospital, just to get checked out and be on the safe side. A taxi got me there in about 5 minutes and I went to the registration desk. I didn't bring my card from the last time I was there, but they had my name in the system and said a doctor would see me shortly. By shortly, they meant 7 minutes - I wish I could get that kind of service from my regular MD in New York.
He said my lungs were clear (which surprised me) and that I didn't have a fever, but he could tell my throat was very inflamed. He said don't worry, it's not SARS (or as they call it in Hong Kong "atypical pneumonia") and it's not Bird Flu, just some run-of-the-mill virus and that I was very dehydrated. He gave me antibiotics and directions and I was given the bill, just under 1,000 baht - that included everything - office visit and medication. Fellas, if you ever find yourself ill in Bangkok, DO NOT HESITATE to go to Bumrungrad Hospital. It'll make you wonder why we can't have this type of service in the U.S.
I went back to the hotel feeling a little better and I found that Nueng was still sleeping. I woke her up and told her I was going to run some errands and she was welcome to stay in bed. She went right back to sleep.
I took a taxi over to Soi 16, where my favorite Thai massage place was. The girl I liked from the last time wasn't available, but they gave me a girl that I had on my last trip and she was quite skilled as well. I went for the three hour massage, as I really didn't want to get up after two hours. I dozed in and out and when it was over, I felt like a new man. Total for the three hours was 500 baht + tip.
It was about 2:00pm and I went over to Asoke Plaza and logged on and took care of a few things. I then made my way through the beer bars and walked over to where Lólita's was, but the place wasn't open. (I later learned that Lólita's moved to where Alley Cats used to be, but I think a Lólita's sign is still at the Asoke location). Anyway, I decided to go back to the hotel and rest up. I was leaving for Hong Kong tomorrow and wanted to be as healthy as possible: I intended to do the town right, and I would have less than 24 hours to accomplish my mission.
I went up to the room and Nueng was awake, but laying on the couch. She had way too much to drink the night before, but I guess that's a right of passage when you're that age. She didn't want to eat anything and we just hung out on the couch until it was time to take another nap. The plan was to get up around 7:00pm, grab something to eat and then go bowling or see a movie.
At 7:00pm I dragged myself into the shower, not wanting my last night in Bangkok to be a bust. I got dressed while Nueng got ready, then we went downstairs and took a cab to Nana Plaza to pay Nueng's final bar fine of this trip. We were in an out of the bar in less than 30 minutes and then we were on our way.
Nueng told the driver to take us to the Major Mall, one I had not yet been too. It's fine as malls go; they have everything, including great movie theatres and a big bowling alley. We quickly ruled bowling out as being too physical, then made our way up to the Theatres. Paycheck and the Last Samurai were monopolizing the screens and we bought tickets to a late show. We then went to a restaurant opposite the theatres where we had great shabu-shabu.
Photo: Neung 37
It was almost time to head in and we both weren't feeling great and when I told Nueng that it was a 3 hour movie, we decided to rethink our strategy. We went back to the hotel, as my flight was leaving at 8:25am and I'd have to get up around 6:00am. I don't know who was happier to crawl into bed, Nueng or me. Talk about wimping out - my last night in Bangkok and I went out without a bang.
Saturday Morning, January 24
The alarm went off at 6:00am and I woke up feeling much better. Nueng got up and looked a lot better too. I guess we both needed some rest. While I took a shower, Nueng packed my suitcase. I gave the suite a last look around and made sure I had all my electronic equipment and all the various cables used to connect and charge them. Nueng stayed upstairs while I went down to get a bellhop and settle the bill. When reading the introduction packet from President Solitaire, they said that the hotel bill should be paid in cash "unless there were dire circumstances." I found this to be a bit odd from a luxury hotel, but the night before I withdrew 20,000 baht to settle up the bill. When I sat at the reception desk, they asked me if I'd like to pay with a credit card or cash. I asked them about the policy I had read and they told me that credit cards were ok, even American Express. But since I had the cash on me, I gave them cash. With tax and the airport ride in (I paid cash for everything else) the bill came to under 15,000 baht for the four nights.
Nueng, the bell hop and my luggage all caught up with me in the lobby and a taxi to the airport was called. I can't remember the price negotiated, something like 400 baht, but that included taking Nueng to her parent's house after the airport drop-off.
There was no traffic at that hour on a Saturday and we made in to the airport at 7:15am. It was a quick goodbye with no tears and then I made my way towards the packed Thai Air check-in counter. It took 30 minutes to check-in and pay the 500 baht exit fee and then I was headed towards the gate. I stopped and had some breakfast near the gate and waited until the last call for boarding. I was leaving Bangkok and heading towards my final destination: Hong Kong.

My intuition tells me that Bang and Neung were not sisters.....bar girls get close to others that are in the same predicament and might be from the same village but not sisters. They really dont resemble each other but I could definately be wrong. Not that it matters.
I also love the Q Bar and its very close to Soi 11 Grand President where I stayed last time. On some nights you will see some Thai movie/soap stars there and a nice mix of young Thais and farangs.
Many are going to read this and think that the girl milked you but I think she got the vibe that you are generous and are there a short time, so money is not really an issue. Be thankful she didnt ask for a new cell phone or gold chains. Looks like a very sweet girl and I do remember seeing her at AW when I was there last week.
One last thing. Did I read correctly that you barfined 3 girls on your birthday but didn't fuck any of them that night.......Only busting your balls a bit (as they say in New York).

Blazers,
Your intuition and attention to detail are right on the money.
1. Bang and Nueng are half-sisters (different mothers) but both live at home with Nueng's mother and their father. The only other sibling who still lives at home is Nueng's younger sister (same mother/father) who looked incredible when she walked in wearing her high school uniform. Can't wait til she starts working as a bar girl.
2. I naturally put out the vibe that I'm generous, because, well, I am generous. Just my nature. I attributed most of the expenses to her birthday - it'll be interesting to see what she does (or doesn't) ask for on my next trip, when it's nobody's birthday.
3. Unfortunately, you did read correctly that I BFed 3 girls and didn't fuck any of them on that night. That bothered me when I went over my notes, but it is what it is and I don't embellish my reports. Technically speaking, I did fuck Nueng and Bang after midnight on Tuesday - so I did bang two girls on my birthday. And I really was feeling like crap on Wednesday night.

It has long been my habit to barfine 3-4 friends of one of my long time girls and go out partying. You are right about the looks you get . Much less so from Thai people actually. Thais frequently go out in groups of 1 or 2 guys and 4-6 girls etc. They do not think twice about it. It does not mean the guy is banging all 5 girls-- he may not be doing any of them. It's just Thai poo ying like to hang out in numbers, with farang or Thai guys the same. They seem to be more comfortable and have a better time. When I was in an area of mostly farang, and I had my harem of 4-5 girls I got many long cold stares from the white bitches -- mostly looks of envy from their pussywhipped companions !! I loved getting both reactions. The girls thought it was a riot as well to shake up the farang cows.
Neung's B day party looks like a blast. Thai people know how to party big time. One of the most fun things I ever did was to go home with a BG friend from Rainbow II several years ago just to sleep on the floor for 2 hours with her and 8 of her friends and family, getting up at 4 AM to be in one of 5 pickup truck loads of Thais headed for an all day party at Bang Saen beach. What a blast-- everyone got wasted -- tons of beer and Black label. Music, dancing, bannana boat disasters etc. I have very fond memories of shit like that-- always a great break from hunting and scoring .
You are getting the real Thai experience. Now you gotta start learning to speak Thai my friend !!!
Great Report. Anxious to hear about HK. Hope you got a lot of pics of the girls there. When I was there -- just walking on the street -- my head was spinning constantly from one stunner to another. Perhaps more stunners per square foot than any place on earth IMHO .

Thanks for the kind words guys.
KM - I totally agree with you about the group thing. Hell, where else can I get a beautiful entourage like that at such a reasonable cost.
I'm putting the final touches on the Hong Kong report and I did take photos (limited) of 2 of the 3 girls I had. Not the greatest photos, but you'll get a good idea of the feel of the place. I should submit this final chapter to Hombre on Saturday.

Wallstreet, AWESOME report and extremely well-written, I loved your descriptions and will point some out when I re-read this a dozen times like I do with all the best reports on CH. My initial impression, though (and NO, I haven't been laid in several days!) was that the farang that wanted to marry Bang was a goddamned GENIUS! Next time you see her ask if she wants to marry some fat American guy and live the GOOD LIFE in Mexico?
Whatever virus you had, I think I caught the same thing in Angeles in July and had to end up hacking up some blood before I would listen to Epi's always great advice and go to the hospital in Pattaya where I found exactly the same thing you reported at Bumrungrad: Less than 10 minutes wait to see an actual MD and a bill of 900 baht or so for the doctor's visit and all medication. Fucking amazing, and big time evidence that the urbanized areas of Thailand are FAR from the tercer mundo.
Re: your spending habits, and now knowing that you are a card-carrying OLD MAN, any chance that you (or KM, for that manner!) could ADOPT ME???
Am also salivating over the Hong Kong report. For all the money I am planning to spend on travel costs alone this summer, an Asia Air Pass that might get me to double-digit destinations sounds like a definite plan, and China would probably end up on the list.
Of course if I got there it sounds like I'd have to end up staying at a youth hostel if your price on your hotel was any indication! I don't CARE how much the hotel would cost in NYC (where I once lived on the ultra-cheap for 1000+ days), 100 bucks a night sounds friggin' EXPENSIVE AS HELL TO ME!!!
Loved the pics. Wish you'd share the nude shots, but I understand why you might not want to.
Thanks for the great report.

Porker: Thanks so much for the compliments - glad you enjoyed reading my report as much as I enjoy reading (and rereading) your trip reports.
That Bang (what a GREAT name) is a real firecracker - she gets over on EVERYBODY. She's stringing along TWO Thai boyfriends who are young and good-looking, so fat Americans like US would have no shot.
She even gives the mamasans at AngelWitch a run for their money by not showing up and leaving early. But they all know she can get barfined AT WILL - she just has that "certain something" (in addition to being an 18-year old hottie).
That All-Asia pass sounds like a great idea - if you are planning to go this summer, let me know when - I think it would be fun to hang out for a couple of days.
The hotels in Hong Kong are expensive, but since I was only staying one night, I wanted something with a view of the harbor - that was important to me. There are definately cheaper options, though not as cheap as Thailand. And the sex is going to cost you more there for less time. You'll hate it if you compare it to AC or even Thailand. I love big cities and Hong Kong did not disappoint.
Also, I found my search for the 1-4-1s to be an adventure through these back alleys like out of a crime novel - it was a great time.
My Hong Kong trip report will be done by Saturday or Sunday. Believe it or not, I didn't take any nude photos on this trip (One of the Hong Kong girls is in lingerie). Opportunity just wasn't there and I don't like to push - otherwise I'd post them

Wallstreet, am making a decision on a hotel for an upcoming trip, is this the "Grand President Hotel" at 14, 16 Soi 11? Looks pretty sweet, were you in the Royal Suite? or a Grand Suite?
I will be in Bangkok for about four days and always like to stay in nice places, but also need to make sure that they are guest friendly.
By Wallstreet on Monday, February 23, 2004 - 06:17 am: Edit |
Whitty:
I stayed at the President Solitare which is owned by the same group as the Grand President Hotel, but a completely different property. And to make things more confusing, both properties are located within 200 yards of each other.
The Grand President is about half the price of the President Solitaire and there are many on this board who stay there. I've never stayed there so I can't comment on it other to say the location is great and everyone has always said it is guest friendly.
For more info, go to the left side menu on your screen and click on "Topics" - then "Asia", then "Thailand", then "Bangkok", then "Hotels" and you'll find reviews on these hotels (and many more).
I think you'll have a great time at either one.
The President Solitaire is also guest friendly.

WS, you're now my hero. I don't care if Bang was a half sister or what, but that scene you described was absolutely amazing. Doing two teenaged sisters (spinners and hot!) one room apart from each other! Plus, one is the wild type, the other innocent. Ahhh, and you did it so casually. Wish I had the chance to hang out with you more the last trip. I really like you style. Great food & drink, great clubs, beautiful women.
Also, big thanks for the detailed reporting. You've just convinced me to start journalizing my experiences so I can relive those great times in LOS. Cheers!

This is the first time I read your report. I missed it being in Asia at the time you were posting it. Too bad we didn't get a chance to hook up, but there's always your next trip East...
Done the Bumrungrad thing a number of times and am always amazed at how fast and effective their services are. When I was in Thailand my second trip I got sick and was finally DRAGGED to the hotel. After less then 30 minutes I was out the door. I even got to pay with Visa. My last trip I ended up with tonsilitis and I felt like a million bux just hours later (shots and GOOD drugs).
Those pics of MK Restaurant are making me HUNGRY. I miss that place, along with all streetcorner soup places.

I love Bumrungrad Hospital. I had a nasty skin abscess filled with puss removed at the hospital in 2002. Checked in, went to the dermatology department, and was called in after about a 10 minute wait. She diagnosed me there. She said about another 10 minute wait for the operating room so they could remove it.
Gave me a local anesthetic and it was gone in another 20 minutes or so. Got it bandaged up, got my antibiotics and was out of the hospital for a cost of about $60 US.
They told me to come back in the morning to have the bandage changed. Went back in the morning, was in and out in 10 minutes but it hurt like a motherfucker as they took out the pack, re-packed and then re-bandaged the wound. Cost: About $5-$10 US.
I then flew back to the US after they changed the bandage and started driving back to Arizona. Foolishly stopped into an emergency room hospital in San Clemente to have the bandage re-done. I waited two hours to see anyone. Finally saw a doctor, waited another hour for him to come back after he first saw me. I then finally got a tetanus shot, new antibiotics and a fresh bandage. The Thai bandage had lasted 24-36 hours and all my squirming on the flight back. The San Clemente Hospital bandage fell off as I was walking to my car.
The bill from the San Clemente Hospital came back at $1200 for what amounted to about 10 total minutes I was actually engaged in service with someone from their hospital. I asked how much it would cost beforehand and they refused to tell me any prices because it was against Federal law to do so and they had to accept me regardless of my ability to pay.
I had insurance, but still ended up forking over a $250 deductible. If I didn't have insurance and would have had to pay the entire $1200 for what essentially amounted to a tetanus shot and a five minute bandage change, it would have been cheaper for me to fly back to Thailand and get it done at Bumrungrad Hospital instead. And I may have even “saved time” in doing it.

I had 12 skin tags around my neck and another one on my back near my belt. I'd snagged a few of them, and bled like crazy when it happened.
I was at a dermatologists office for something else, and asked about removing the skin tags. It was $125 per each 5 I wanted removed WITH INSURANCE!!
Later, when in Pattaya and in the hospital for bronchitis, the doctor told me I needed to see a surgeon. 5 minutes later I was talking with the surgeon. 10 minutes later I was in surgery and could smell the "cooking" flesh.
I walked outta that hospital, after being treated for TWO conditions, WITH medicines (about 7 total) for $125US. Now that's a deal.

WS, it sounds like you had a great trip to Thailand. It seems like you didn't have much trouble finding people/girls/help/etc. who could manage English--am I right? (That is one thing I like about the P.R.)
For anyone who might be interested--I have been to St. Luke's Hospital (Medical Center?) in Quezon City (very near Manila), PR, several times--including heart catherization, if you can believe it. My reaction is the same as yours at Bumrungrad Hospital--a good job, clean and modern, but low-cost. I wouldn't hesitate a minute to go back to St. Luke's--probably will, in fact.
Have you (or anyone else) had any trouble with food poisoning in Thailand (i.e., Montezuma's Revenge, Thai style)--apart from the natural results of over-imbibing? I got that the first time I went to Japan, and the last time I went to Manila--and I am always very careful what I eat and drink.
It sounds like you eat pretty much what ever is put in front of you--I wonder . . . .
