It's countdown time around here as I am getting ready to leave AC for points south. I want to visit one of the beach areas (Puerto Galera) before I go so I can convince myself that I came here for more than just the sex.
Nothing is perfect as a sexual destination and AC is a great example of that. On the one hand you have what has to be thousands of available women, many of them very cute with the most awesome tight little butts and warm smiles. On the other hand the overall physical environment here is easily one of the most disgusting places I have ever visited. I can't believe how thankful I am that I choose the Oasis Hotel because it has given me a refugee from the filth and noise of the Field's area. I've had a variety of physical problems since I've arrived which has made it hard to feel 100% energized. Today it's a sore throat courtesy of the assholes who still think smoking is a smart idea. Great. Just as my stomach is finally settling down after some of the great, and probably not so clean, street food that I ate when I first got here.
Where I live there are many Filipinas so I had a good idea as to the general physical features. If you like the look, and I do, this place is 7th heaven for some very pretty women. I just can't get over how smooth and tight their skin is. Yes, there are a few bellies here and there but most of the bodies are slender, perky tits and lustrous black hair without the messy crap gyrating everywhere that is so popular with American women. In fact, while I am normally a major blonde freak, I actually have not felt any withdrawl symptons.
Another consistent find here are the smiles. Men and women both are always friendly and people just look approachable and open. I love sitting in one of the bars, maybe right at the stage, and watching the women "dance". The smiles are not devouring, usually, but almost shy. Combine that with the dark eyes, the dark hair and the flawless light brown skin and I probably look like some sort of low level IQ mental case drooling in my chair.
What has to be an attraction for the men who come here is the ease in which you can spend time with someone. And the unbelievable cheapness of it all. With your drink being 45-65 and the lady's drink between 100 and 125 you can get your jollies for a fraction of the cost of anywhere else that I have ever visited. And without the hassles of asshole waiters demanding that you buy more drinks and then trying to cheat you with the bill.
Some final thoughts about AC. Is it worth it?
It's a long ways to get here with a high flight cost although your living expenses shouldn't be much over $100 a day for everything once you finally arrive. If money is an issue then this place is hard to beat. My dislikes about AC are clear: The noise, the general seediness of everything, the overall lack of comfort. Match that against the huge number of willing partners who have little or no BS about what you can and cannot do with them. And don't forget the sheer number of cute women with great bodies.
I still give the Rio termas the first slot as the place I most want to visit again. Rio itself has many of the same issues of noise and smoking that gross me out but it is lightyears apart from AC in your ability to find a good meal and a nice area in which to chill out. I give the idea of GFE a toss up between the two places. My "favorita" here in AC could hold her own against her competitor in Solarium.
I strongly feel that both Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic are fantastic OVERALL destinations due to the ease in which you can get out of the cities with a private vehicle and enjoy some spectacular scenery. The sex may be more expensive and/or not up to what you would find in either AC or Rio but you only need one for things to click. If you find that, and combine it with two very nice places in terms to beaches, mountains, and the like, you have hit a jackpot.
Since so many people here are intimately familiar with TJ's Zona, here's a brief comparison. Both are dirty and noisy with lots of available women. Both have some pretty darn cute ones too and finding a GFE is not that hard. And both places come across, for me anyway, as something to visit for a very short time. Maybe just a few days and that's it. Right now, if I lived in San Diego I would probably stay in TJ and mark AC as one more spot that I had visited. However, there are some well known people who do live around San Diego and whom have pretty much dumped TJ for AC so maybe that would also happen to me in time. I know that if the travel time to AC and TJ were both measured in a few hours that I would infinitely prefer AC. (It's those smiles and the tight little asses)
And a word of thanks to the following people:
This trip would have never happened with the contributions of a number of nmaes. Bingo was the first author of an AC trip report that I can remember reading. The next name that I started noticing was Progman's. Then Blazer's. All three have given some great decriptions that covered not only the sex but the overall environment. Around these three have been a number of others who have each added a piece to the overall picture. But it was a one-two punch of EPI and Porker that convinced me I had to see this place for myself. Both are serious addicts and will probably someday need professional care. Finally, I want to thank Geoceltics. He emailed me prior to the trip out of the clear blue sky and invited me to get together with him after I arrived. The guy is a perfect example of your typical monger on these boards. GC is super friendly, very knowledgeable, easy going, sexually screwed up in a good way, and was a blast to hang out with. I would have never discovered the Perimeter bars without him and they turned out to be where I found what I was really looking for. And, of course, a final thanks to everyone on the board who takes the time to contribute their own experiences and thoughts. You still can't go to Borders and find a book about all this and your neighbors or coworkers probably don't know anything either.

Tight Fit,
Thank you for reminding me what I always loved about PI! I have not been to AC yet but have lived in Manila for 6 months and returned for 4 other short vacations that were truly fantastic. However your post has me wanting to return and go directly to AC and see what I can "get into" 10 to 12 days. I noticed your reference to the "Preimeter Bars"??? Could you expand on this for me just a little? How far? How much? What is offered there that is not readily available in the main areas? Either post here or feel free to email me larryc7394@hotmail.com

TF, You took a slightly different approach to describing the AC scene and it worked to perfection. Add your name to the "Hall of Fame" list above.

Interesting report amigo. Me he estado en Santo Domingo actulamente. Que te acuerdes de mi informe sobre Monalissa, he pasado mucho tiempo con esa chica. Voy a mandarte un correo con unas preguntas sobre las playas. Hasta pronto.

Larryc73, the Perimeter Bars are an entire group of mostly local (expat) bars down the street from the main area. I have Geoceltics to thanks for introducing me to this very valuable part of the AC scene.
There is a long street that begins at one end at McArthur Highway. Incidentely, this socalled highway is a heavily congested internal city street and not a rural road as the name inplies. The street of action is called Fields. In the first several blocks are all the mammoth bars where some very serious money has been spent in decorations and overall facilities. Then come maybe 4 blocks or so of a mismatch of smaller bars interminged with local retail businesses of every kind. These bars tend to be small and usually more "friendly" than the larger ones where the women seem more standoffish. Fields changes its name once it reaches a really crowded and filthy area marketed by a local open air market, a large minibus area, and massive crowds of people and noisy trykes and mongrel dogs and piles of garbage.
From this point on the street is now called Perimeter Road and it parallels a long fence which marks the end of the former US base called Clarke Field. The congestion lessens and businesses are often separated by garbage filled vacant lots and buildings in varying stages of abandonment. Or rehab depending on the moment. Along this stretch are a number of small bars that open in the early afternoon. Some have pool tables, all have dancers, and the overall atmosphere is extremely laid back. They are fantastic places just to hang out and maybe slum a bit in some of them. You would be surprised how many fairly cute dancers are to be found. I obviously like some of these bars. They don't have the flash of the Field's bars and the clientel is definitely different. I met several guys who are now living in the country and who like to kill time with a few cheap drinks, maybe a little pool, and lots of touchie feelie with the women. The places are clean even if they look somewhat abandoned on the outside. Definitely worth a check.
