This whole thing started as a combo brainchild of UWPhoto and myself. He had already purchased a Brazil Airpass and was hitting other areas of northern Brazil. I figured that I would hit Recife, Salvador, and finish up in Sao Paulo. At this point, I had BELIEVED that I was tired of Rio and that I needed a break from my "home".
I agreed to handle living arrangements for me and UW because he had a lt of other things going. Besides, my job had begun their mission to destroy me and I needed something to distract (or deter) me from unleashing my full wrath upon them.
Finding an apartment for Salvador was pretty easy since I started looking in October 2003. Recife was a little more difficult. I was able to get in touch with one person with an apartment located a block in from the Beach at Boa Viagem.
Boa Viagem is one of the main locations for the Carnaval parades. I did not know this.
The owner of the apartment was a nice Brazilian lady of German descent named Sylvia Scheddin. I was one of her first clients....for APARTMENT RENTAL. You dirty minded bastards.
She was also nice enough to pick me up from the airport which, coincidentally, is VERY close. Like a 5 -10 minute ride.
The one-bedroom apartment I rented from her was actually hers. She had just moved into a new apartment. This apartment was very nice. Small TV, stereo, air conditioning in the bedroom and free maid service (I think). The building has a cafe and a medium sized pool on the top floor.
Now....since I was checked in and Sylvia and I had taken care of the rental business...it time for me to make a "Stand".
First, I checked my printouts and got my bearings. My apartment was across the street from what seemed like a Brazilian Evangelistic Church Hall. Hmm....canīt session with Brazilian Church hymns in the background. Besides, Sylvia didnīt seem to hip to the scene and, plus, she lived in the same building on the second floor. I figure my best and safest bet would be one of the multitude of short stays around Recife...and they have a LOT.
I left the apartment and started walking to Av. Cons. Aguiar (someone can correct my spelling). This Ave is where youīre going to find most of the popular action in Recife. It runs parallel to Boa Viagem and is 2 block over.
There were some SWīs pawning their wares. Not as many as I had read on my printouts. But, I did also read that the scene was deteriorating in Recife.
As I was doing a little window shopping, I just happened to notice that I was one block away from the Sampa Disco. I guess you call this Recifeīs verson of Help.
Only thinking of getting adequate info for you guys, I decided to suck it up and go in.
I wasnīt impressed. This was a Sat. night. Maybe 3 girls that I wouldīve done. Those 3 seemed to prefer the obviously tourist looking. Apparently, I can pass for a Brazilian until I open my mouth. And it seems to me the girls here preferred the lighter skinned foreigners to the dark-skinned Brazilians or those that look like them. One girl even told me she did. Her friend seemed okay with me once she found out I was American.
She was cute but a little heavier in the seat than I normally liked but her stomach was flat which I thought was kinda cool.
We negotiated to 100R for as long as I wanted. She started at 200R(thatīs an automatic quote there). She was okay.
The whole mental attitude toward me from the majority of the girls just because of my appearance turned me off on this place. I did return the next night but left with nothing. Two girls wanted 200 for an hour. Sheeeit. One even had to nerve to tell me "In Italy, itīs 200 Euros." I said as best I could in Portuguese " This ainīt Italy and I sure as hell ainīt Italian."
You have a good night, Sweetheart. See ya. Her ass left alone.
I had decided to try the street scene earlier. This was Sunday night and it was early. One girl was working. Why not? I thought, "itīs for the guys on the board". 50R for an hour.
You guys have been there. Got her in a room and she got undressed. I remember thinking "where did she hide all that?" I figured if she was good, I could deal. She wasnīt.
She was one of those "churn & burn" girls. Get ém out as fast as possible to get another one in. Sorry, Chunky, but I paid for an hour and youīre going to get pounded for an hour. Well....normally, that is. But, and I know it may surprise some of you, the Chocolate Wonder has limits. The combination of her fake ass moaning, whining "muito grande", and that "hidden" baggage totally put ol' One Eye in a bad mood. So, I left.
This episode and the "In Italy" bitch made me realize that I should cut my losses and start over the next day.

Damn Kickstand. Sorry to hear it. I'm glad to read a report from you amigo. I'm excited about our European/Prague adventures in May. I can't believe you'd get that kind of shitty experience in Brazil!
Hope you have fun in Rio.

I agree on Sampa (see my report from what, 2+ years back).
Odettes I hit too late, but it had hotties. And the disco about a mile from Sampa, towards downtown (can't remember the name) has a handful of hotties, but maybe that upscale snobby attitude (although I met some sweeties).
Hey, the food in Recife rocks! Much better than Rio...

GF - That's okay. You know how my trips go. As long as I have more good experiences than bad, I'm happy.
FLHobbyer - I agree. I spent most of my dining time at this little place called Oxente on Con. Aguiar. It was a by-the-kilo place. I enjoyed it there. The girl that worked there with her younger brother, I think, seemed to like me. Her brother would practice his English with me. Very nice people. I would go in there and load up on good Brazilian cuisine for like 15R max.

Continued....Odette's: Now this is more like it.
So, as I turned in from my suck night in Recife, I figure that this was my typical "Bad Day" of the trip. Once that was out of the way, it could only get better. And I was right.
I decided to take a chance on Odette's today. I goofed off for most of the day in the Shopping Recife Mall. I left for Odetteīs after having dinner at Oxente. I didn't know where it was but I had heard that it was local institution. My kinda place as long as it wasnīt a tourist institution. So I took a chance that the cabbie I stopped would know. He did.
Copacetic.
Odette's was located a little ways away from the beach. It was in a neighborhood that didn't have anything that looked remotely geared towards tourists. As a matter of fact, I think there was a military base nearby.
BTW -While I'm thinking of this, there were everywhere because of the Carnaval celebration. And I mean every 6 - 10 blocks. Funny thing is that every place of "entertainment", SW included, there were cops nearby on foot. Felt a little weird at first but they never did anything. Hell, there was a little police outpost right outside of Odette's. I had to laugh.
Odette's was a basically a huge house with a pool. There was a bar out by the pool that was basically the boatee to meet the ladies who were wearing somewhat normal clothes. Dressed more like girls at Help than in a termas. Pretty large area for the meet & greet. I saw only locals. I would say there were about 15 ladies there. On the average, much better looking than what I saw at Sampa Disco. And these ladies were checking me out with that familiar look that I'm so accustomed to in Brazil.
F**k Sampa.
A guy comes up and gives me the whole rundown at full speed before he realizes that I'm not Brazilian. He does it again slow enough for me to understand and shows me to a table. Very casual here. I like that.
I get a beer and start looking for my intended victim. At that point, there were 3 that I would have done. Number one on the list was sitting alone so invited her over and we started talking. Very friendly. Very fun. Very cute. Very nice legs and ass. VERY going to be getting plowed in the near future.
Now THIS is something else that I liked about Odette's: I asked the monetary question. She came back with 200R for 2 hours. I was used to that. I probably could have negotiated less but I had the urge to merge and Sir Stanley One Eye had taken over.
She went to get her bag and I'll be damn that's when the new Number One and Two walked in. Damn you and your rash impulsiveness, Stanley One Eye!!
Oh, well. We left for the nearby sex motel, Forum, which is actually very nice. Seeing as I have a pretty good record for picking great performers, my instincts told me that I would not be disappointed with my choice.
No, sir, I was not.
I may have paid a Rio/SP price but, by gum, I got a high caliber Rio/SP performance. It made it worth that crappy previous day.
Note of middle type room in Forum - I forgot what the name for the room is but it's the one with the hot tub on the entry floor and the bed at the top of the spiral staircase. That place is freakin' death trap. Why? Well, the bathroom and shower is on the entry level floor. The bed is on the second floor....at the TOP of the SPIRAL staircase. Ever try walking down a spiral stiarcase after 2 hours of marathon sex?
Damn near broke my neck.
After we finished and we moved the bed back into position, I asked her what time Odette's opened the next day. She said 4pm and that she started working at 6pm. Now, I had a goal for the next day.
I did return to Odette's. Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. That was my spot for the rest of my time in Recife. Both of the ladies I saw here were from other areas of Brazil. The Original number One, whom I saw before I left Recife, was from SP (figures, huh?). Number Two was a tall fair-skinned morena from the Curitiba area. 19 years old and funny. A little tame in the mattress olympics but still a good time.
I had only 5 nights in Recife and 3 of those were at Odette's. So, I think a good trip.
I DID get out and do some sight seeing. I visited Ondina. Beware the taxi drivers. This guy I had was such a freakin' rip-off.
First, he kept pulling over to answer his damn cell phone. Second, he had more eyes than teeth. I wonder how he could get so freakin' fat without the ability to chew solid food. Third, he actually hit this horse in the ass with his rear view mirror. Yes, I said horse and no, he did not detach the mirror from the car and hit the horse with it. You know, I firmly believe that every country has it's fair share of morons. I just happened to be in the vicinity of 2 of Brazil's finest at the same time.
The horse rider. For lack of a better name, let call him "Dumbass". Dumbass apparently decided to walk his horse down the thin elevated median of the busy four lane Brazilian road. And yes, there is traffic at the point.
The taxi driver. Let's call him "The Tooth". The Tooth sees Dumbass and his horse but doesn't slow down. The horse is doing it's best but kinda stumles off the median and has to turn sideways. The Tooth brakes swerves enough to avoid hitting the horse full on and swipes the horse rear flank with the driver's side review mirror.
Both innocent victims, the horse and myself, both went "Oh, sh**!" at the same time. I looked back and he seemed okay. I was hoping he had gotten pissed off and threw Dumbass into a pile of his crap or something. Oh, well...enough ranting.
Kick Stand's Summary for areas of action in Recife (remember this is the week before Carnaval):
SWs along Con. Aguiar: I only saw one and the experience so traumatized me that I never did it a again. 50R per.
Sampa Disco: To me, reminescent of Help but much smaller. Geared towards European tourists or the European looking, it seems to me. More speak German or Italian while none I talked to spoke English. Waste O' my time. Automatic quote is 200R per hour. Sheeit...not while I'm still black and beautiful.
Bamboo: This is a boatee owned by a German ex-Pat. Turns out the crap SW I saw previously works here sometime. Because of that fact, I knew the score, but I figured I'd check it out anyway.
Remember...I do this for you guys.
Located at the far end of Cons. Aguiar where Sauzo Leo (???) intersects. I didn't see a neon sign for it but I just happened to look down and it painted on the Sidewalk in front. As my boy GF would say, these girls were foul. At times like that, I forget ALL my Portuguese. I just chugged my drink and got the hell out of dodge.
Chakatak: Located near Bamboo. Locals place with the lowest prices. Bamboo was supposed to have better quality girls than this place. Um....yeah. I didn't even approach the place. I had just eaten.
Odette's: Oh yeah! My L'uomo in Recife. Only problem is you might want to keep a taxi driver's card with you. Transportation seems a little inconsistent. They have an on-site driver but he over charges. No meter.
Hope this helps.

Mangaman,
I went to www.bahia-online.net. I got an apartment through this guy, Daniel Blumenthal. I'll post my "experience" with the apartment I had (which wasn't good) but they have others which may be better.
