Amazing guide. I glanced over it, expecting to find all the superficial tourist stuff, but I could not find any fault. Congratulations!!

Even a good description of brothels and Vila Mimosa. I could not say it better

(except there could be some addresses of the best brothels)

Bwana, did you ever stop by at my place? Please do so, I am just a block from Alcazar and Hotel Debret. Maybe in the future you can add Brazil Specialist as a resource in Rio too!?

3 packs of condoms only?
do you only stay for 3 days? One party with 4 girls takes up at least a dozen condoms (one per girl up the ass, another in front, and a few extras for frequent switching).

My rule is: imagine how much you might needin your wildest dreams and bring at least double or triple. Better waste US$ 20 on 50 useless condoms then needing to use a single Brazilian condom!!

Also don't buy standard Trojans. My favorite is Crown Skinless, 100 pack for US$ 25, I need to look up the url though. You need to be careful with them and lubricate them always, and better not for backdoor. Ultrathin and sensitive

By FLhobbyer on Tuesday, March 02, 2004 - 06:25 am:  Edit

Hmmm, I don't know what all the fuss is about Brasilian condoms... I don't mind them that much. I mean, I still bring a ton of US ones, but I use the others from time to time, say in a terma or when the girls whips one out, and I have little problem.

I mean, once you put one of those damn things one, IMO all sensitivity is lost. Whether it's ultra thin or any special brand, one is only splitting hairs at that point. Using it in the first places kills it for me (not that I ever don't use one when with a program girl).

By Bwana_dik on Tuesday, March 02, 2004 - 08:11 am:  Edit

You're right, BS. Three dozen will not do if you are doing festas and such. Last trip I brought a box of 96 and with just one private festa (me and three garotas) and an average of three sessions a day over a week, I had about a dozen left over. Just got my next shipment in today. I think I've been keeping Condom Country in business. Also, thanks for the kind comments on the guide.

FL- I do think there's a big difference between the high end condoms, like the Inspiral, and the Brazilian condoms, in terms of sensitivity. Several garotas have commented on how much more THEY like the Inspirals as well, since the shape produces a lot more friction and heat for them as well. I'll use the Brazilian ones (Prudence) in the termas during the preliminary rounds, but switch to one of mine for the final act.

Are these the same condoms? The width in each is different from the other.

Bwana your report was very helpful on my trip to Rio this past Feb.thank you! You are right the women are great in Centaurs, but the cabins are poor. Are the suites any better? It can be hard to choose because there are so many good ones. And for me it is very hard to leave without going for a second girl.I agree the terma girls are hot, but something about them spending time with five guys a day that does not sit well with me so try not to think about it.That is why I like the clubs. I think just maybe she has not be with anyone that day . If you or anyone can respond to what the suites are like in Centaurs It would be appreciated.

By Bwana_dik on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 08:10 am:  Edit

The suites are nicer, but compared to other termas, they are quite expensive. The other problem is there are only a few suites and the wait can be pretty long when the place is jumping.

The way I look at it, if I'm doing 3-4 girls a day, I'm not going to worry too much about how many guys they've done. And the termas garotas are pretty fastidious about hygiene; more so, in my experience, than the Help or club girls.

By Catocony on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 12:05 pm:  Edit

Half the club girls spend their day working at dive termas, message parlors or hooker beach anyways. Besides, the girls don't usually mind that your dick has been in more than a couple of twats that day either!

By Beachbum2 on Wednesday, March 10, 2004 - 11:26 am:  Edit

I found the suites at Centurus to be pretty lame. In fact I find just about everything at Centuras pretty lame. Granted they do seem to have the most woman, and they are all quite hot, but the place is a rip off the minute you walk through the door.

My personal opinion is that Monte Carlo has the best suites. But I have certainly not been in a suite at every terma.

Just over a week before my next trip, been having hard time staying focused on work.

By Daniel on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 - 12:45 pm:  Edit

Do the suites at Centuras at lest have full length mirrors? I'm suprised how run down that place is!

I was doing the research for this. Actually, in 1988 I was more likley to be found in Cuba as it was an easier trip, but I was making annual pilgrimmages to Rio by then.

Bwana, a comment

You say>
"The Arpoador Inn is one of only two hotels in Rio (the other being the Sheraton) located right
on the beach."

The Sheraton is in front of Vidigal Favela with (rare) gunfights and muggings in the back but frequently totally polluted favela runoff sewage water at their beach.

Arpoador Inn is at one of the nicest and cleanest beaches in Rio.

No comparison between the two, unless you care about better rooms and service in the Sheraton

=============
The Citibank in Ipanema is in front of Hotel Vermont, near Rua Vinicius de Moraes. No taxi driver knows where citibank is! I feel much better with cash in Ipanema then in copacabana, it is worth the cab ride.

By Bwana_dik on Friday, April 30, 2004 - 02:56 pm:  Edit

I'd agree. I would never stay at the Sheraton but usually stay at the Arpoador. Arpoador is my favorite beach...good surf (often) with a point break and a few beach breaks, clean water (by Rio standards), and a crowd of mainly locals who are friendly. Still, they are the only two truly oceanfront hotels.

Sorry I never made it by, BS. Work got too crazy. Next time. I would love to meet Michelle!

By Rexxx on Saturday, July 24, 2004 - 05:42 pm:  Edit

any idea what would be the "nicest" (in terms of services and amenities comparable to a solid 4 star plus hotel in the states...) hotel in rio that would allow discreet "hobbying"? I've been to rio a few times, done the budget hotels, and the apartment thing as well, but this time I kinda want to be spoiled a bit more and more relaxed than adventurous...not really that concerned about money...has anyone ever stayed at the copacabana palace for example? would it just be impossible to bring a working girl there? i know some of the girls would probably be intimidated, but i'd like to gauge some outside, veteran opinions...or what about the marriott? thx in advance...rexxx

By Brazil_Specialist on Monday, July 26, 2004 - 04:32 am:  Edit

I met a few guys that had girls in the Mariott, I think it is possible. In Copacabana palace, I am sure the arab sheiks get girls, but the average mortal might have trouble. You would probably have to settle for classy hookers, not the tatooed help variety.

If you have the money to spend, then do your whoring outside your hotel. I had people renting a 5 star hotel plus my room. Or go to VIPS, Bambina, Sinless motels. Yes, it is a hazzle. Or take a simple Copacabana motel, cheaper then the guest fee at your 5 star hotel.

By Bwana_dik on Monday, July 26, 2004 - 09:06 am:  Edit

Rexxx,

The Copacabana Palace will not stop you from bringing girls in, but they are definitely not welcomed in. Additionally, I think this hotel is dramatically overpriced and overrated. My one stay there was a real disappointment in that I expected much better service and a much nicer room for the price.

I think you might like the Princess Copacabana. Nice rooms, comfortable beds, etc. The suites are quite spacious and very reasonable. And the hotel staff will treat your guests respectfully.

The Marriott is, in my estimation, also overrated and overpriced. It is, without a doubt, the worst Marriott I've ever stayed in (and I like the Marriott chain). Rooms are small, beds are barely adequate...only the food deserves kudos. It was originally built not as a Marriott but as a Renaissance hotel, but the chain bailed out before the building was complete, and Marriott bought it. Unfortunately, the rooms are not very Marriott-like.

You could also check out some of the nicer apart-hotels (see www.promenade.com.br) in the Ipanema-Leblon area.

By Sweetmesquite on Monday, July 26, 2004 - 02:50 pm:  Edit

the promenade site is great for imformation [promenade is the management co.]but always higher on rates than using a travel agency to book the same room at the same property. the service at the princess is great. currently R216 mon to thur , R165 fri to sun, no girl charge off season.

By Kenmore on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 - 07:49 am:  Edit

Bwana,

I agree with your comments about the Copacaban Palace. The place sucks and I would not stay there even if it was cheaper.

Our views on the Marriott, however, could not be further apart. For the past 11 years, I have slept in a Marriott hotel more nights than my own personal bed. In 2003, I actually spent 73 nights at the JW Marriott hotel in Rio.

The Marriott hotel was originally designed and was built out for use by Hyatt Hotels. However, during the build out phase, Renaissance (which is 100% owned and operated by Marriott hotels) purchased the lease and now runs and operates the JW Marriott hotel.

I do agree that the regular hotel rooms are not particularly large, but I find them very comfortable. The beds are full king size and have the big fluffy comforters. Its funny, when I take girls out of Help or out of Termas and tell them I am staying at the Marriott, they usually get excited about the beds. Many garotas have told me the beds at the Marriott are "comfy".

Due to my status with the Marriott hotel chain, and as a regular guest at this particular hotel, I typically am provided with the best room available. This usually entails a suite with an extra room and a huge bathroom. I love these rooms and the views are awesome.

The best part about Marriott in Rio is the 24 hour room service. Nothing beats ordering room service after your first romp in the sack with the girl you drag home from help. I actually do not find the food to be all that great, but after drinking all night and a round of sex, damn near anything will hit the spot.

The pool on the top floor is also very nice as is the gym. In fact the gym is well above the Rio standard as far as gyms go.

I would rate the Rio Marriott as one of the Top 10 Marriott hotels I have ever stayed in. This in part is due to the exceptional personal service I now recieve because I know everyone who works there.

With regards to price....it is clearly more expensive than others. What really gets expensive is the telephone and food and other charges at this hotel.

I have also stayed at the Princess Copacabana. The one downside to the Princess is the girl charge during peak season. But it is a good value hotel.

Just my worthless opinion.

By Sabio on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 - 02:16 pm:  Edit

Kenmore:

Thanks for the detailed information about the Rio Marriott. Are all the top 10 Marriotts you stayed in JW's? Where does the Hong Kong JW Marriott figure in the comparison (assuming you stayed in it)?

By Catocony on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 - 07:23 pm:  Edit

I've been Marriott Platinum (75 nights or more per year) for six years, and I rate the Rio Marriott very high. The hassle-free guest policy is excellent (no charge, no sign-in) and the girls do love the place. The pool is excellent. Also, for US$10 per day, you do get broadband Internet in the room.

I would not pay the high price to stay there, but if you can get an airline rate or a freebie of some sort (I used points when I stayed there), or if money is no object, it's a great place to stay.

Oh yeah, the beds are incredibly comfortable.

By Kenmore on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 - 12:29 pm:  Edit

Sabio,

Hong Kong Marriott is damn nice. Certainly ranks up there in the top of all Marriott hotels. I also like the Marriott on the Champs Elysee in Paris (location is tough to beat). I do not keep track, but the Hong Kong Marriot is very nice and more plush than Rio. Very different though, the Rio marriott is a beach front hotel. I am comparing the Rio Marriott to other hotels in Rio.

One thing that I failed to mention was the excellent airconditioning. You can freeze your ass off at the Marriott if you want. I like to sleep in the cold and find the Marriott suits me like no other hotel in Rio.

Later..I have to run to the airport...flying to Rio tonight.

By Dave33 on Monday, August 16, 2004 - 09:04 pm:  Edit

Bwana,

Any updates on the Debret and the Rio Roiss allowing guests? In your 2004 guide, you mentioned that despite these hotels being in a magazine article about prostitution, local reports indicated that they still allow guests.

Anyone else stayed in the Debret or Rio Roiss anytime recently in 2004?

By Bwana_dik on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 - 07:57 am:  Edit

Both are allowing guests, and both charge for guests. No change in that respect. One hotel I didn't mention in this edition of the guide is the Atlantico Copacabana. There's more info on this site under Rio hotels, but it's priced right and is completely guest friendly. While a long walk from Help, it is just 2 blocks from Termas L'uomo and a block from the Siquiera Campos metro station.

By Dave33 on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 - 04:23 pm:  Edit

Long walk from help!?! Great! That means a guaranteed allniter from a garota. Someone inboxed me and told me that if you pick up the help chicks too early, they might go back to help and ask for more. Damn, thats where im gonna stay (Atlantico)

By Bwana_dik on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 - 04:54 pm:  Edit

The issue is not where you stay (they'll just take a cab for a few reais if they want to leave) but what you negotiate with them and what time you leave Help. So, negotiate "toda a noite" and leave Help at 2 a.m. if you want them to stay all night.

By Maverick on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 - 09:01 pm:  Edit

One thing about Atlantico Copa: please be respectful with the management and use some discretion/courtesy bringing in the garotas. I've stayed at this hotel 3 times in the past year without problems, except the first time: It seems that someone staying at the hotel complained about the rampant sex objects walking in, and it pissed management off so much that they cancelled the guest policy. First two nights I stayed there I could not bring in anyone (and I even tried giving Americo-the desk guy $100 US- he refused). On the thrid day he called me over and said that all the complaints from hombres had caused them to reconsider, and I've never had a problem since. But I do get the impression that they try to be an "upstanding" place, so I always try to be low-key with my guests. I love the hotel too much to change.

By Sabio on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 - 11:19 pm:  Edit

Why don't the Rio hotels just use the beach entrance for those who are bringing in garotas? It's better for the hobbyist, better for the straight guests, and the beach entrance is otherwise unused at night.

By Badseed on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 07:32 am:  Edit

Crime.... you're lucky they keep the FRONT entrance open at night (acutally, it's locked in most hotels, the doorman unlocks it when he sees a known guest walk up).

BS

By Catocony on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 10:12 am:  Edit

By 2:00 AM, the lobby at Atlantico Copa looks like the back room at Help. Putas and mongers going in and out, garotas waiting in line to have reception call up to rooms, etc. I stood there with Americo one night and we counted 14 hookers (not including mine) walk in or out in 10 minutes.

I would imagine you can cut some good deals with the outbound garotas, since they've already had one trick and thus another at the same location is pure gravy. Maybe I'll try that the next time I stay there.

By Bwana_dik on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - 12:27 pm:  Edit

An interesting idea, Cat. You might get some to go for a 50 real for 30 minutes special under those circumstances.

I once had a chica come up to me at the Blue Marlin Bar in SJ and tell me that she was on her way upstairs to session with some guy, and if I wanted, she'd stop by my room on the way out for a discount session, and I wouldn't have to pay the hotel fee. I took her up on the deal, but made sure she showered VERY WELL before diving in.

You should make this reort mandatory reading for anyone going to Rio. I could have avoided a lot of headaches not to mention dangerous situations but, then what would I have to write about. After 6 trips to Brazil I finally stumble upon your report only because other member suggested that it might be helpful. Many thanks for all the useful information.

Jaguar (or is it Morty),

Just read your report tonight (while in bed with the Brasilian flu--runs, fever), and it really lifted my spirits. The next edition of my guide will have to be dedicated to you. Man, what a trip!!!

Great writing, BTW. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Would love to meet you in Brasil some time, but not in a public place where we could be seen together by certain people...

Boa sorte,
Bwana
